I called and they said they accepted Medicaid and I went thru a lot of hassel and time trying to get the referral to then be told they didn't take Medicaid.

I have been seeing Dr. Houk since early 2019 and have found him to be very understanding of the pain that I experience with PMR. He has taken the conservative path in my treatment and I thoroughly appreciate his approach. I totally respect Dr. Houk and follow his advice and the treatment plan he gives me.

My experience with Dr. Houk has been outstanding and very helpful to me.

Dr Houk is a caring highly capable rheumatologist. Definitely the best doctor in this area.

Dr. Houk & his staff are exceptional! I have been seeing him for over 3 years and he has always been compassionate & caring. He is very detail oriented, wholistic in his approach, and always takes the opportunity to teach & offer suggestions. He is one of the most intelligent physicians I have ever gone to see. I did not see Dr. Houk, who I hear is amazing, I saw his partner, I feel that I was dismissed not listened to and made fun of by this doctor and her nurse.

Dr. Houk and his staff are awesome. I have seen many doctors and been fighting with pain for a long time. In one visit he switched some things up and diagnosed some new things. I felt better right away! His staff is very friendly and willing to help!

I would not recommend this clinic. The staff is cold and uncaring of patients! They never answer the phone and it’s impossible to get an appointment let alone try to get help with medical needs .

I was diagnosed with Celiac disease a year ago. Around the same time my eye doctor expressed concerns over damage to my eyes due to severe dryness. And I am suffering from tooth decay due to severe dryness in my mouth. Sjogrens is an autoimmune disorder characterized by these symptoms often accompanied by Celiac disease and has to be diagnosed by a rheumatologist. I initially called to see if I needed a referral (you do) and told the lady up front my concerns. She said I'd need to bring any papers with my sjogrens diagnosis. I informed her I hadn't been diagnosed it was just suspected and I needed to see the doctor to be tested. I told her I could bring paperwork from my eye doc about the eye damage and she suggested I do so. My PCP then referred me to see Dr. Houk. After waiting weeks to hear about an appointment so I could be tested to see if I have this issue, his nurse told my PCPs office that my file was still sitting in a pile on his desk. A week later my PCPs nurse called again and was told that Dr. Houk "wasn't taking cases like this anymore." And that was the end of it. My doctor was baffled and offered to refer me to a different rheumatologist but I confess I am very discouraged. The problem continues to worsen and it feels pointless when the doctors that are supposed to be the best won't even see you. I can't fathom it. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease a year ago. Great physician. I have known Dr. Houk for over 15 years. Great character, great person, great physician.

Been with him since 2012. He is very compassionate and calm and understanding. He always explains everything so that I understand where I am on my health journey. The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. Love them all dearly! ~~kelly stout

As a young and active woman, my symptoms were ignored by 8 other physicians. Dr. Houk was the only physician to look at my history, symptoms, and do a physical exam to diagnose my lupus. His staff, including himself, have all been extremely accommodating. Dr. Houk is amazing!! He completely took his time with me and explained in amazing detail what he thought my treatment and lifestyle changes needed to look like. He didn’t make me feel crazy for asking questions. He was wonderful! I can’t wait to keep working with him! Great nurse too! And sweet lady at the front desk

Would not answer phone calls nor return calls after leaving a message. Ordered an infusion but never gave it because insurance compensation wasn't enough but never called to say he wouldn't. Waited 5 months for an infusion that he never intended to give! Poor patient care, based on money rather than patient outcomes. Patient is Phillip Jones and infusion was krystexxa and it wouldn't be on this forum if your staff would answer the phone or return calls. My first visit was today. Dr. Houk was very knowledgeable, pleasant and thorough. I was very impressed.

I've been seeing Dr. Houck for over twenty years. He is the doctor that I trust. If I have anything going on outside of my RA situation, I always ask Dr. Houck what I should do and I should see. Dr. Houk and his staff were very nice. He took a great deal of time to discuss my illness and treatment. I was very nervous going in but his disposition put me at ease. Thank you to Dr. Houk and staff.

I met Dr. Houk when I was 29 years old and diagnosed with RA. I am now 55 and I truly credit this man with saving my life. I have moderate RA and have had a surgery or two and a few strange infections and shots here and there but I have been able to work and live an extremely productive life. He truly loves his patients and he CARES about them. He has listened to me cry, laugh, discuss all my issues with care and concern. He returns calls, he is an amazing doctor and I have recommended him to so many people that he has helped. I am not the type of person to complain or even write a review. I hope this will help with someone trying to get some real answers and real help. From the moment he walked in he was reading the paperwork that they mailed to me. He said hello I'm Dr. Houk. And you are an addict, and if you are here for me to sign your disability papers then you came to the wrong Dr. I just looked at him in shock, because if a Dr can read some paperwork and think that is the right way to talk to a new patient. Wow!. And in the middle of the visit he took a personal call, 15 mins long. At the end of a visit well if you call it that. Bc no test were done, just him telling me to quit my job,cook like he told me too, eat only what he is saying to eat a real Dr appointment then wow. Oh and the fat ass women he seen yesterday happened to have the same rare autoimmune disease that I have and she was just an addict too looking for disability wow. He got up and walked out. His nurse was in tears and we all sat in silence waiting for him to come back. 20mins later she went looking for him to see if he was done. And she came back and said he is finished I could leave. If this is how you want to be treated and helped. Then go see this guy. His staff first told my neurosurgeon office that the Dr didn't want to take my Medicare Advantage plan with United Healthcare and that I had seen a Rheumatologist within the last year then faxed a page to my PCP that said they called twice and I never returned a call so he refused to see me. When calling from my PCP's office and speaking with Gal, she couldn't tell me what number they called or when but said messages where left and I never called so he will not see me. Now I only showed two dates on my phone from these numbers and it was April 30th when I called to see if they took my insurance which they said they did and this day I was speaking with Gal. She said well we tried but He won't see you. I asked if the Office Manager could please call me and she told me there was no need because she already informed me he wouldn't see me. Now this Dr sees patients off of referrals and this is two Doctors whom they have given two different answers on the same patient and was very rude to me while my PCP listened to the conversation and the way she spoke to me. If Dr.Houk wants more referrals, he may want to check with his front staff if they feel like it. Clearly there at least needs to be documentation inorder to have the same excuse when discussing the same patient. It makes since to keep records to show accountability instead of just say whatever comes to their mind when it comes to dismissing a person.Just be nice, obviously the person callings something going on, your in the medical field, show compassion and understanding, It's not that hard. I went with my husband and have never had a physician spend as much time with us. He was very knowledgeable and gave us comfort with how he planned to manage his gout. He is really a fantastic doctor.

Dr. Houk has listened to me when I felt like no one understood or cared to listen fully. He has helped me manage my Lupus symptoms and remain active in my busy life. I’m grateful for him and his staff.

Dr. Houk saved my life over 10 years ago and has been helping me ever since. He is more than a Doctor. He listens and understands what you are saying and knows how to fix the problem. Even if it is sending you to another doctor that can better understand and help you. I feel like he truly cares for me. He doesn't rush. He is very thorough. I will recommend him to everyone.

Dr. Houk has taken care of me for over 20 years, and I was on a stable prescription to balance my fibromyalgia, arthritis, and gout. I was not informed that he was no longer at the clinic until I called to have lyrica refilled. Then I was told by the nurse that "he is no longer here and you need to see your primary care physician" So I went to my PCP and got the prescription and the pharmacy is not filling it because they want to reach Dr, Houk. I wish I knew where to find him.

Dr Houk is a gentle and kind doctor. He has treated me for 20 years and has brought me from the onset of my RA to the top of the ladder medication wise. All with the goal of keeping me from being in extreme pain and to minimize damage to my joints. He shares his life and yours. He is family. My husband and I both cried when told dr Houk had left. My husband has never met dr Houk but he knew how much he had done for me. I have only best wishes and warm thoughts for Dr. Houk BarbaraA
