Richard Bernstein

Dr. Bernstein is incredibly knowledgeable and explained my condition in a straight-forward, easy to understand way. He was very patient and kind with answering my questions and concerns. I highly recommend him. Great nursing and front desk staff too.

My friend went to this doctor and had a bad experience. Well, to be exact the “experience” was about 3 minutes. He didn’t asked about his medical records whatsoever, and it almost feels like the doctor don’t want to see him. 100% NOT recommending him to anyone.

This doctor is very rude and has no medical ethics. He repeatedly emphasized that we are new patients. It is understandable, but he did not even ask any questions in order to understand our medical concerns. The experience was unpleasant.

He is an irresponsible doctor. He did not take any consideration in knowing his patients. The whole visiting process is not exceeding 5 minutes. I am so thankful for Dr. Bernstein. I have a complicated case due to recent stokes and needed a second opinion immediately. He reviewed my many scans and files in a timely manner. He was very knowledgeable, caring and thorough. Thanks to Dr. Bernstein I was spared having unnecessary brain surgery.

Dr. Bernstein took exceptional care of my mother, taking the time to really listen to us and explain her condition. Following a post-operative stroke, most of the physicians had given up on her, but not Dr. Bernstein. He stuck by us and she made a nearly full recovery. He’s smart, kind, and patient...exactly who you want in your corner.

Excellent experience. Impressed with Dr. Bernstein ‘s knowledge and expertise in his field. Thankful for the time he took allowing me to ask questions and making me feel like he was not rushed to do anything else but check on me.

In the 5 minutes he graced me with his presence, he determined I was okay. He's rude, arrogant and really disengaged with the patient or the problem. If I could rate in negative numbers, I would.

we recently went to his office after my father had a stroke, and he took none of our concerns into consideration. He does not know my fathers stubborn history nor his non compliance to regimens, which was voiced to the dr. directly and i felt it was dismissed totally. my father's vision was compromised from the stroke and the day of his discharge, he was already telling the world that he was back to normal just the way he was before the stroke and that he's perfectly fine. The dr was poor in his assessment and quick to dismiss our concerns and took my fathers word without even doing proper testing. I dont recommend this office to anyone or else you'll have a bigger problem at your hands. I'm truly dissapointed by this lack of concern and quick fluffy assessment probably to get to his next case/appointment at the clinic. Dr. Bernstein is a brilliant scientist and a meticulous physician. He is heavily involved in research and is not a physician who holds patients hands but he is clearly committed to their care. I am a former biomedical scientist with advanced degrees and can communicate with Dr, Bernstein at a level that demands little of his time. If your problem is potentially dangerous you may be willing to see someone on top of their game who is not a good hand holder.

K.. Breier - Dr. Bernstein has been my Dr. for 10 years @ NWestern knowledgeable, but has the worst Bedside Manner & that is what matters most to Patients. Lacks communication with his patients, shows no compassion, too opinionated needs to come down off of the high horse & relate to his patients, shows no empathy, no caring, Compassion for his patients. Been trying to contact him for 5 days & no call back that shows Unprofessionalism on his part, time to get a New Dr.

I traveled from 3 hours away for an expert opinion from a vascular neurologist on 2 possible cryptogenic strokes, but found Dr. Bernstein to be rather blunt, a tad offensive, and strongly opinionated but based little on medical research. He did take his time, but really was not what I had expected, but I admit my expectations were high based on his resume. The consult was not very helpful.

Good diagnostician, people skills are tremendously lacking. He showed a lack of caring, compassion and empathy after the initial diagnosis. Telling someone to get used to excruciating pain is unacceptable. This comment does not help a patient deal with a serious medical problem.
