My 89 year old mother had been experiencing hoarseness for several months. Her PCP refused to refer her to an ENT so my mom self payed to see Dr. Requena. He seemed to realize that she needed to be scoped immediately, which he did right then and discovered a paralyzed vocal cord! There is follow up testing to be done, but we are finally on the right track! ????????

Maybe I missed something, but I feel like I’m reading about a different doctor in these reviews... I came in for a pretty routine procedure- removing some impacted earwax. In previous years at other ENTs, when I had this done, softener was put in my ear and then sucked out gently with a vacuum. The doctor came in, didn’t introduce his assistant, who stood there awkwardly, didn’t make any eye contact and asked me patronizingly when was the last time I had my ears cleaned. When I thought he was examining my ears first before cleaning them, he proceeded to just forcefully pull the wax out of my ears. It hurt terribly, and now a few days later, despite him saying my ear canals are completely clear, I’m fairly certain the insides of my ears are a bit swollen as they still feel full and my hearing is still muffled. He gave me an impromptu hearing test that day, so I know my hear was fine on that day. I would say proceed with caution when seeing him. He is an amazing and talented surgeon. He performed Balloon sinuplasty surgery for a chronic infection that cause one sinus to stop draining completely. I had no complaints or complications, not even swelling or bruises! I highly recommend him. Plus I love the fact that he has young people in training in his office and his educating the next generation of ENTs.

In 2012, Dr. Requena performed a partial glossectomy on me to remove a cancerous tumor in my tongue. I was understandably nervous about the procedure, but the Dr thoroughly advised me on how the procedure would be performed and what recovery would be like. During the surgery, he took great care and extra time to ensure that all of the suspicious tissue was located, tested and removed. His follow-up care was exceptional as well. My mouth has been cancer free and trouble free ever since. I highly recommend this doctor.

I had a great experience at the Pasadena office. They squeezed me in same day because of a hearing problem I was experiencing. The audiologist, Dr. Requeno and his support staff were all awesome!

Great Dr. and professional, he is very detail in his examination and questions, very attentive to all my questions and symptoms, excellent ability to explain what is happening in a simple and understanding manner. Dr. Requena is also an Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) specialist. I had seen several ENTs over the years because of a cyst on my larynx. Every one of them said we just need to watch it to see if it gets bigger. Dr. Requena was the first to diagnose and treat the problem. Consequently, I no longer have an irritating cyst on my larynx. I can't thank him enough. He is totally patient-centered and thorough, as well as being very personable. I give him my highest recommendation.

I had septoplasty done with Dr. Requena in August this year and I just wanted to say this has been an exceptional experience!! Dr. Requena is a wonderful doctor with equally professional and supportive team of nurses who all share excellent work ethics. Everyone on his team made me feel comfortable and safe. Although I heard many horror stories from people who had this procedure done in the past, I personally did not experience any difficulties at all. My surgery went off without a hitch. Dr. Requena was referred to me by a friend after a horrible experience with another Dr. That experience was a blessing...for it lead me to Dr. Requena. His bedside manner is awesome. I was a very heavy smoker diagnosed with polyps on my vocal cords. He was honest with me, showed me what he saw & encouraged me to take control of my own outcome, with patience. He was empathetic & never belittled me; honest, but talked to me like a human not another number. He has an amazing bedside manner. I am happy to tell the world that we no longer have to visit because I am 15 months smoke free & polyps healed. My first appointment with Dr. Requena was on 02nd December 2016. Although the issues involved with my hearing could not instantly be diagnosed, Dr. Requena patiently and comprehensively, in layman language, explained the processes, and the prospective procedures and testing which would be employed, enabling him to ultimately provide a diagnosis. Dr. Requena’s nurse was competent and assuring. The doctor of audiology, who also examined me, was comprehensively professional.
