Highly recommend Dr. Ortiz and his amazing staff. I was an emergent case. The receptionist Madeleine was compassionate, patient and made sure that I was able to see Dr. Ortiz as soon as possible. Tristan, my surgical assistant was professional and caring. Her calm demeanor was comforting during a scary situation. Dr. Ortiz was fantastic. He made sure to explain every step in my treatment plan and answered Every question. After my procedure Tristan called to check in on me. Dr. Ortiz made it clear that as a patient I always had full access to him for any questions or concerns and he meant it. I had a post surgical question and Dr. Ortiz promptly responded to my text. Again, I highly recommend Dr. Ortiz and his team.

Reception was great, everything was clean. The dentist who took my tooth out made me very uncomfortable. Attempted to talk me into pulling a healthy tooth because "I have a tiny extra tooth on one side in back and therefore it's unsymmetrical". Even after saying no thank you he still tried and tried. Then it was "oh it's better to do it now because your insurance is covering it now." No. Thank. You. Don't pull my healthy teeth that are causing no discomfort whatsoever. My stitches seemed possibly too tight because very soon after the surgery I was left with a ball of stitches and not connected to my gums except by 1 tiny part. I'm glad others had good experiences, but I'm sad I wasn't able to feel trust for the person _putting me under_. Thanks for reading. Edit: Hi Ortiz, I'm a little confused about your reply here since we had a lengthy text conversation over your practice, the date I was there, as well as sending me pictures of my own x ray images. Also, you absolutely attempted to talk me into a second extraction moments before putting me under. My guess, in an attempt to get me to reschedule to do them both together, I'm not sure but I was very uneasy. Since you like gaslighting people, I'm changing my review to 1 star. Thanks so much. Truly unexpected experience for me.

Add a modern, clean, well equipped facility to genuinely caring and competent staff and you get Dr. Ortiz's office. As a first experience with his team, all aspects of the visit were well done - from the admin staff and scheduling, to the nurse prep, to the consult and procedure. Dr. Ortiz went above and beyond - scheduling my procedure the next day _before_ the office even officially opened due to his full schedule and after considering my pain and other extenuating circumstances. Who does that? That's class and service you rarely see. 10 out of 10 stars! Thank you!

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. I have terrible dental anxiety, Dr. Ortiz and his staff made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Everyone was so patient and sweet. The process didn't take long and and I have little pain. My surgery was only a few hours ago. Thank you Dr. Ortiz and staff❤️❤️

I was so impressed with Dr. Ortiz and his staff. I was extremely nervous about my daughter surgery especially without being able to be in the room with her. Dr. Ortiz seen how stress I was and was super considered and allowed me to sit in a room nearby. He came out on occasions to give me the thumbs up as in she's doing great. Nurse eric was so kind he made my daughter comfortable; she even taught him her signature handshake lol. Dr. Ortiz and his staff checked on my daughter recovery process a couple hours after her procedure and today as well. I must say I have found a new dental office. I appreciate the professionalism and consideration.

We are very happy with the nicest staff and doctors . Dr. Ortiz and his staff are amazing. My daughter had all 4 wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Ortiz 2 days ago, since the moment of the extraction she feels like no surgery has happened. The next day she was very surprised to wake up with little swelling and no pain. As a mother I am very happy with the result of my daughters surgery. I recommended Dr. Ortiz

You know you're having a bad day when your dentist sends you for an immediate appointment across town with an oral surgeon. Turned out a cyst around an impacted wisdom tooth had grown rapidly and was dissolving the bone. I could tell that Dr. Ortiz was very concerned about extracting the tooth (which had an extensive root) without fracturing my jaw. Thankfully, he was able to remove it and keep my jaw intact. I'm sure it wasn't easy, and I appreciate what he accomplished. ..... Things have been fine since surgery. Luckily the cyst that Dr. Ortiz removed was benign. I understand that if it had been an ameloblastoma I would have needed extensive reconstruction. So get those wisdom teeth out when you're young, and if you have a cyst get it removed immediately. Best not to mess around. Thank you Dr. Ortiz!

I went in for 3 wisdom teeth extractions and off the bat the staff was extremely helpful & friendly. Joshua R. was very knowledgeable and professional in helping me with the pre-op, answering my every question any time of the day, making sure I was very comfortable with the procedure. Dr. Ortiz was also very professional and outgoing making me feel at ease and willing to break everything down for me aswell as keeping up and reaching out post-Op making sure I was healing properly. Overall, the entire staff at Tallahassee Oral & Maxillofacial surgery clinic was a 10/10 experience. I will highly recommend Dr. Ortiz and his friendly staff to not only my close friends and family but anyone looking into oral surgery in the surrounding area. Dr. Ortiz and his staff were wonderful throughout the entire process of having my wisdom teeth extracted. I felt comfortable and calm the entire time I was there, and they did an excellent job at fitting me in last minute due to a tight schedule. The ladies at the front are very friendly and kept in touch to check on me post-op, and Dr. Ortiz made himself available even while he was away in case of any questions or concerns. Could not recommend this office enough!

Dr.Ortiz and the staff I encountered were awesome! Dr. Ortiz performed a surgical procedure reopening my wisdom tooth socket taking out broken bone where infection had begun. Outstanding Office staff and top notch medical care. Dr Ortiz removed wisdom teeth for my 2 teenagers. His bedside manner is so gentle and kind. He personally called to checked on them several times after the surgery. I would highly recommend and would definitely come back again.

9/14/22 Worst oral surgery experience Ever. First I had xrays from my dentist done before I went to see him and he would not accept causing me to pay for a new set of panoramic x-rays which had been done by my dentist. Horrific pain during extractions No pain in mouth when came that's why I had trouble with believing the infection story No time to really plan before I came. Pressured me to do next day surgery by saying there was infection. Very uncaring about pain. He injured eye tooth on right which sent nerve pain up into my eye. Looked like I'd been in a fight with black eyes Before surgery NO PAIN in MOUTH only in right shoulder. *Suture strings hanging inside mouth at least 2 inches long on each side. Sedation Dentistry is supposed to be almost painless. Never had such horrific pain before with an oral surgeon using Sedation. I feel nothing normally because I'm under. His propital is weak because I felt everything. He does not offer nitrous. He doesn't fix any damage he causes. His statement, "I extract teeth, I don't repair them." Nitrous puts me under better than this. Plus they would have me lift finger to indicate pain, give citanest and wait for it to numb up a few minutes. Check for numbness and then precede. It was like I had no numbing at all on both sides. Left side horrific pain. At previous oral surgeons can't walk out. They help get me on seated walker and roll me out. I was able to walk out so I wasn't sedated. Yet paid for it. BP after surgery 224/97 bottom number up is concern, that is TIA or stroke levels yet sent home. Excruciating pain, Pain in left hand shoulder, it was swollen up. Went down next day but shoulder on left then hurts. Bled for many days. Feet black line cross top and veins popping up, severe neuropathy in toes on left. Bottom of both feet was painful walking out, more painful by time I got home [strapped my feet down knowing I'm diabetic] The black haired guy removed the stap. The surgeon knew I had a rebuilt ankle, this made no sense. Oral surgeon said eye tooth broke because there was decay. My Dentist checked x-rays before surgeon worked on my mouth and said there was NO decay. He hit the tooth and knocked the filling out. Then had me get it fixed and pay for it. Had to pay to see orthopedic who said the oral surgeon hindered circulation in my feet by strapping them down. I would NEVER use this surgeon again. Also his prices were high.

I had an infection in my wisdom tooth and no one would take me as a new patient. These guys did though and saw my condition and helped me the very next day after the consult. The staff are all very nice and professional. I truly felt like I was in good hands! Thank you guys!

I recently had surgery preformed by Dr. Ortiz and it was flawless. I am terrified of anything dentist related and Dr. Ortiz along with his wonderful staff were very aware of my phobia and made me feel as comfortable as I could be. They have checked on me twice since the surgery which is unheard of these days.I’m in day 2 of recovery with no pain and minimal swelling. The office and equipment is top notch and so is are the people. I am extremely pleased!!! I highly recommend this team of highly skilled and caring people for all your dental needs!! I was referred to Dr. Ortiz and I am so glad I was! From the first day I walked into his office, until the last, my experience with Dr. Ortiz, and his entire staff exceeded my expectation! I don't consider myself a very good patient due to several bad experiences with other medical professionals and/or the staff, so I was somewhat apprehensive. Not so with this office. He and his team explained the procedures and what I could expect over time including the best outcome to potential concerns. I had the best results. Dr. Ortiz provided his number as well as reached out to me to make sure I was doing well and if I had any questions or concerns. I also to wish to express my appreciation for the care and consideration I received from Eric and Joshua! They were assuring, patient, and really listened to my fears and concerns. I could not have asked for a better team! While I don't know if I will ever need his services again, I won't hesitate to reach out to this office.

It’s been exactly one week since I had my severely impacted wisdom tooth removed by Dr. Ortiz. I had barely any swelling and experienced very little pain during the past week. The procedure itself went very smoothly and everyone at this office was absolutely wonderful!

My son got into a fight while I was not able to see what exactly happened and concern to see the XR’s he got transported to se Dr. Ortiz and immediately he took charge of the situation. Communicating with him was easy and he explain in detail what exactly was going to happen during my sons surgery , he showed me the X-rays , we know that was a delicate situation but he made it seem so easy and putting my trust in him he did a wonderful job . As soon as the surgery was done my son look good , not inflamación and couple hours later he was smiling . The recovery it’s been great too . We were concern because we thought due to the impact that he was going to loose one of his tooth since it shifted at the impact and after the surgery the tooth has been moved back to place . My son hasn’t experienced any pain and I can thank enough the talent and care he has receive from Dr. Ortiz and his office . A real answer to out prayers . Thank you so so much . I had cellulitis in my face going across my throat and they got me in the next day for surgery! The entire team is amazing! I went in scared of course but came out feeling so much better! This is the best oral surgeon office to go to! You will not get better care at any other office. I won't be going to any other oral surgeon ever again! They call you after surgery to see how you are, you can text or call the Dr if you have any questions, and they gave me 2 follow up appointments just to make sure everything was healing well. I got my wisdom teeth removed here and had absolutely no problems after the surgery. My recovery was very quick and easy. Dr. Ortiz and the staff were very helpful and informative. My nurses were super caring, very friendly and definitely made a huge impact on my experience at this location!

They prepare you so well for everything, I had everything I needed to recover swiftly. You can literally go in anytime for a follow up and they will see you which makes it so easy to plan. This place is amazing, friendly staff makes you feel relaxed and at-home. Dr. Ortiz and his staff are miracle workers, no after procedure pain and limited soreness. By far the best dental experience of my life. The personal treatment is great, they called to check up on me twice after the procedure.

I had a terrible toothache which turned into a swollen abscess. My pain level was a constant 10 out of 10. With it being the week of Christmas and to have this happening was very scary. I was in such terrible pain. Dr. Ortiz and his staff were truly amazing! I thank God for them all. They were able to see me and do a consultation, jump through hoops to get my insurance approved quickly so that I could have the surgery that same evening. On the day that I am writing this, I received wisdom tooth extraction surgery from Dr. Ortiz. Four hours after my surgery, I am experiencing no major discomfort. I expected to be incoherent and in pain for an extended amount of time, but Dr. Ortiz has surpassed all my expectations. In addition to this, the office is extremely clean, comfortable, and has some of the friendliest staff I have met. As the patient, I was the main focus. I never felt neglected, and I was constantly being checked on by the wonderful team of nurses, staff, and Dr. Ortiz. I was even given the option of music-choice while I waited for the team to be ready for my surgery. This helped assuage much of my pre-surgery anxiety. I went to see Dr. Ortiz for a consultation for a dentigerous cyst that was visualized by X-ray done by my dentist. I am so happy with the treatment I received from the clinic staff all the way. The staff was very helpful, sweet, and knowledgeable. Dr. Ortiz explained in detail everything about the cyst and the next steps. I had done the surgery with Dr. Ortiz, and I can express how great of an experience I had. The facility is well equipped, new, clean, and modern. These folks made me comfortable as I could; when I was chilly, they gave me a blanket or when I was wondering what was in the IV, before I could even ask the nurse explained everything to me. After a less than positive experience with another oral surgeon for a procedure with my teenage son, we were extremely nervous. Had a 2:15pm appointment. Arrived at 2:30. It is now 4:07pm as I type and I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN SEEN. Mind you, they close at 4:30pm. I was referred to this place through my insurance/dentist and thank God I will be changing insurance soon because I definitely don’t plan on coming back. And kicker …. After waiting all that time The dentist Dr. Ortiz is extremely RUDE! Talked all over me. Dr Ricardo Ortiz and team were professional and efficient. They talked me through step by step which helped reduce my anxiety in a scary and painful situation. In addition, their new facility is inviting, easy to find, and plenty of parking.

My husband had three extractions on an emergency basis. Dr. Ortiz explained the procedure to both of us and put us at ease. Following the procedure there was very little pain and no swelling or discoloration. It's almost like a miracle. We can only say positive things about the experience.

Extremely positive experience. Dr. Ortiz is clearly highly trained as are his staff. Despite my hesitation about the twilight sedation, I’m completely glad that it was done. I’m pretty bad about getting my blood drawn and it was painless, and I could immediately bend my arm. The staff was extremely attentive and it felt like a 5 minute experience. I am fortunate to have had no swelling and also no bleeding. I had all my wisdom teeth removed and within about 4 hours after a nap it was as if I never underwent surgery. My husband and I both recently had tooth extractions with Dr. Ortiz. From our first visit to a recent follow up we have been extremely impressed. He spent time with us going over our care plan, asking and answering our many questions and alleviating our fears. His entire staff are friendly, kind, professional and patient. It is obvious they are a team and work well together under his leadership. It would be an understatement to say that dental visits and surgeries are not my favorite. I had the most amazing experience with Dr Ortiz, Eric, and Tristen. I have extreme anxiety: so much so that I had a huge hole in my molar where a filling fell out for over two years. When the pain was too much I finally made an appointment. Firstly, in this age of covid, where getting an appointment is as easy as striking gold, I was in for the consultation and then surgery within a week. Secondly, anxiety kicked in before I even walked in the door, but Tristen and Eric made me feel as comfortable as possible by keeping up a conversation and they had music playing in the background. And thirdly the suites were beautiful and comfortable and clean. And lastly, Dr Ortiz is personable, gentle, and very comforting. Plus he's quite handsome, but that was just a bonus. I think they had problems with their telephone system for a little while, but once I was able to get through to them and let them know of that problem, each person we worked with was wonderful. They helped us navigate through some insurance issues, worked with the special health needs of my daughter, and work to get her into their schedule quickly so that she could get her wisdom teeth removed before she starts college. And Dr. Ortiz gives out his personal cell phone number and tells you to feel free to text or call him if you experience any problems. I had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Ortiz in April this year- and it was an amazingly smooth and quick process. I had a gum infection causing me severe pain and Dr. Ortiz and his staff were able to get me scheduled for surgery within days of my initial appointment. I was terrified of complications but Dr. Ortiz was confident and comforting. When I presented for surgery Eric and Josh were amazing. They were incredibly kind and warm which made me feel at ease. My 11-year old son suffered several terrible injuries as a result of a bad bicycle accident he had on a Friday evening last month. Among them: a broken jaw. We were referred to Dr. Ortiz by the emergency room staff. Due to the seriousness of his injury, he scheduled us for 8am on Monday morning. By Wednesday he was getting his jaw wired shut. This was obviously a very traumatic experience for my son, my wife, and me. Twice during the last few weeks we had a need to have Dr. Ortiz examine our son's situation. Both times we were able to get in quickly and easily. Dr. Ortiz even made sure that we had his cell phone number so that we could reach him any time. He was responsive by phone or text, and even responded late into the evening on one occasion. This morning my son had the hardware removed and his jaw released. Everything went very well, and my son is making great progress so far. We expect a complete recovery.
