Dr. Hanel has been amazing the last year that my Dad has seen him. He has communicated everything so that our family would understand what was happening with my father and explained our course of action to our satisfication. I was unable to go with my Father and Mother to most of the appointments due to work and Dr. Hanel was willing to talk with me and allow me to facetime my parents during my dads visit. I was able to go with my parents yesterday and Dr. Hanel and his Nurse Practioner were amazing as always. The medical asistant was not so great and it felt like we were inconvincing her. We also had an issue with an Employee at the Radiology sign in desk at Baptist and also with a staff member working the entrance. I will say the Patient Relations Rep and the Director of Lyerly were amazing in listening to our issues and trying to resolve everything for us since we live 3 hours North of Jacksonville. I would recommend Dr. Hanel to anyone needing Neurovascular surgery.

Dr. Hanel preformed emergency angioplasty on my 18 month old child. Saved his life and I will forever be indebted to him.

Listened to office manager Demetrius try to "shake down" patient to correct gross errors in medical records, when refused he threatened to make more!!!! Doctors who think they are above law are in for rude awakening!

so disappointing, 1st visit was forthcoming with info- said prior doctor messed up and he would do all he could to repair mess- said he told doctor off- after that he shut down, would not explain anything- just got my medical records and nothing is in there- was told he is so good, really???? wont answer any health questions, cancelled last three appts since office failed to get ins approval- to say disappointed is a gross understatement

My mother was having mini strokes and was transported by ambulance to Savannah Memorial where she received nothing! I called Dr. Hanel's office without ever having seen him or a referral. I was very emotional, and his receptionists were kind, caring, and assured me that they would get her in as soon as possible, and they did! He immediately did surgery and she is doing great! Dr. Hanel helped me through 2 different tumors in 2011 and 2013. He confirmed a diagnosis of a medullary cavernous malformation in my brain stem. He was very patient, and he said he would care for me as if I was a sister. He was someone who was informative and kind as we discussed the poor prognosis. I had a berry aneurysm in my brain stem leaking blood on nerve bundles causing so many deficits and pain, and I felt I couldn’t survive the next bleed. I made a difficult choice and decided to have the re-section done with his instructor that taught him when he did a fellowship at Barrow. Dr Hanel continued my MRI’s exams afterwards, and In 2013 he announced we had to get to remove the meningioma that was snaking its way from my temporal lobe and reaching for my optic nerve. He was amazing, and the tumor was more complicated than it appeared, but no problem for his expertise. He is the best in his field, as well as a real person that cares for his patients. Example being as his team prepared me for surgery I asked the nurse about shaving my head, and she told me Dr Hanel always does his patients himself, and is fabulous at it ! I agree since he had to cut from my ear around the edge of my hairline to the top of my head and and inch or so beyond that and peel my face down, yay:/ 45 stapes later and I look normal as ever. God saved my life by having Dr Hanel available 2 years 4 months ago. I had a massive brain bleed on the front right of my brain (I can't remember what they called it) About a week after that, I had a blood clot travel through my lungs (pulmonary embolism), where the physical theosophists from Brooks Rehab were walking me down the hallway.
