I am super pleased with the wrist surgery and care I received from Dr Abrams and his team. The staff was professional and answered all my questions. The post op hand therapy by Amanda, Lisa and Margaret was great too. My hand continues to get stronger every day and I am pleased that I am back to my former activities.

So about 7 months back I went to Dr. Abrams because of an elbow injury I had that refused to heal to 100%. I went to Dr. Abrams for a consultation on whether or not I should get a surgery. This was after I had done 3 months of PT to be able to use my arm in everyday movements, but I never was able to do any extraneous activities such as weightlifting, surfing, even pushups. Before my consultation I had gotten an MRI so that Dr. Abrams would be able to get a full understanding of my elbow. Abrams came in, looked at my extremely atrophied arm, and said yeah you should be fine with PT. I immediately said, “well my physical therapist disagrees because this is the strongest my arm is gonna get with PT.” Abrams then goes on to tell me that the MRI showed that there was nothing wrong with me, and moved me on too another one of the doctors in the office who would just shoot up my elbow with lidocaine to make pain go away TEMPORARILY. Both doctors told me that my MRI showed I was fine so both refused to even consider a surgery. When I went back to school this fall in alabama, I got in contact with another orthopaedic surgeon and brought the same MRI that I had shown Dr. Abrams. Not even five minutes later, the new surgeon came back in after looking at my MRI and goes “yeah I have no idea what those doctors were looking at but you have a big clump of scar tissue very visible on this MRI. Two weeks later I got surgery and now I’m on a path to full recovery... That being said, Dr. Abrams, due to either his lack of expertise, or just lazy behavior, is the soul reason my elbow injury has been prolomged for almost a full year compared to just 3 months. Do yourself a favor and don’t give this man any of your money because he does not have your best interest in mind and only cares about what he thinks is right, when clearly he was completely wrong and laughed at by other doctors in the same field. I came to Dr Abrams with a botched carpel tunnel surgery from a different surgeon located here in San Diego. The prior surgeon ruined my mobility, my feeling, and left me in excruciating pain anytime I moved my wrist or thumb on my DOMINANT HAND! I was depressed having just had two brand new children that I needed to care for. I was unable to feel the tabs of their diapers to change them. No less being unable to pick them up correctly I felt is if my whole life was ruined. I came to Dr Abrams with little hope considering what happened in my prior two surgeries with a different surgeon, I had been seeing at the San Diego Hand Specialists! By the way that place is a chop shop joke! Them using the word specialists in the title is so misleading. It seems like they come in straight from school and practice on their clients. That aside. I gave Dr Abrams a chance and my whole life and my whole family are extremely happy I did!!! His experience and expertise was unmeasurable! He’s one of the most committed doctors I’ve ever met! He is really there for you in the short term and the long run depending on what you’re experiencing! He makes you feel welcome and he wants to help! He eager to take on extremely difficult tasks (surgery) -even if he is unsure of the outcome. He didn’t have to try and help me. He could have left me and said there’s nothing else he can do for me. It was a risk my surgery! He took on someone else’s mess up to the best of his ability for one reason to actually HELP ME! I had my surgery done and even though I’m very far from the person I once was. He made my mobility a bit better. My numbness hasn’t approved. But none of my issues are from him. He tried his best to help me even if it was just a bit. Anything is better than what I was experiencing prior to surgery with him! For that I thank him!!!! I would recommend him to anyone I know having upper extremity issues! I came to Dr Abrams with a botched carpel tunnel surgery from a different surgeon located here in San Diego. He needs to retire. Dr Abrams is set in his ways and doesn't listen to patients. I went in for a broken metacarpal which is now malaligned and still hurts months later yet i can't move it. I would have been better off amputating my finger instead. AVOID

I only met Dr. Abrams three times! First appointment, surgery and post op. He has the best amazing bedside manners and one of the most nicest doctors I’ve ever met. My biggest regret was not getting my carpal tunnel surgery done sooner and waiting over one year to see this amazing ortho surgeon. The numbness and pain is gone and I’m slowly getting feeling back into my right hand! I was really nervous going into my surgery, but he did a great job and the wound healed perfectly! Staff and Dr Abrams treat patients like inanimate objects. They do not respond to communication from patient and patient request's. Dr Abrams and his staff are only concerned with their schedules and what is convenient for them. It is too bad because skills possessed are top notch. They just possess very little regard for patient comfort.

I was sent to this doctor in an emergency situation, not knowing who Dr. Abrams was or just how excellent he actually is - I cannot speak highly enough of this doctor's knowledge, professionalism and ability to put his patients at ease, even in the most difficult of diagnosis' and surgery. When he's speaking with you, he takes whatever time is needed, and he's a VERY BUSY man. His patients come first. This man literally gave me back my peace of mind, helped me get back to a better place in my every day life and made it is his goal to give me the ability to use my hand in a better, more improved functioning manner. I will not see another orthopedic hand doctor as this is the only doctor I or anyone requiring his services will ever need. Can't say enough about him. Go see him if you need his services. You'll be very thankful you did. I have had 2 surgeries one on my left hand and one on my left arm with Dr. Abrams. He did outstanding work, very efficient and gives you a good idea of what is involved. His team of anesthesiologists were also outstanding. You are in good hands with him

Dr. Abrams is the best! He operated on my right hand 2 years ago. Now I will need surgery on my left hand. He diagnoses the problem, explains the surgery and the healing process, and fixes the problem! I highly recommend him.

Excellent surgeon. Couldn't have asked for better work to have been done on my hand. I had completely ruined my first 3 metacarpals and he restored used and function 100% by installing some new hardware on me.
