I have a HMO insurance. Just came for my first visit and cleaning.. Gave me X-rays first, told me I had 2 cavities and then check my teeth very quickly and said I needed a deep cleaning and the cost was $200 out of pocket. I've been going to another dentist regularly and never has he even suggested that but had to find another because my insurance changed. Ultimately I did not go back for the deep cleaning because I found out that the HMO doctors seem to pad their charges so they can make more money from you since they hardly make anything from the HMO insurance.
