Dr. Randall Robert Starkey

I saw Dr. Starkey on two different occasions. Each time when I was driving there was a question of whether I had fallen asleep or blacked out. When I saw him about the second episode he had no notes about the first occurrence. At the end of the second session he told me that it was equally been probable that I fell asleep or that I blacked out. But to cover himself he submitted a report to the DMV which caused them to suspend my drivers license. Given the circumstances, there was absolutely no reason he should have done this. He is medically and ethically unfit to practice medicine. Not only did he make a questionable ethical judgment, he provided absolutely no help in helping me determine if any issues I had with these episodes. In his office his head bobs around like a bobblehead which makes me seriously wonder about his ability to continue to practice medicine. I wound up turning to my primary care physician and my cardiologist to get the help that I really needed. I certainly will never see him again. Not only would I not recommend him, I would advise anyone considering a neurologist to avoid him completely. Due to all of my medical conditions, I see a number of doctors and all of them are good. He is without a doubt one of the worst doctors I have ever seen.

I have been going to Dr. Starkey for many years. I was referred to him when my previous neurologist almost killed me due to Negligence . He was able to get my seizures completely controlled with the right dosages of newer medications than my prior dr had me on. I suffer far less side affects and can drive again. He is always thorough, personable & answers every question I have. I have & will continue to refer people to him. Dr. Starkey has given me back my quality of life. When I was young I had a neck stain and could not drive, read, or look up and down. I saw Dr. Starkey for a second opinion. He was surprised that I was not in traction. I got a new P.T. who knew about home traction. He did an MRI which only showed normal wear and tear. This was 30 years ago and I was impressed that Dr. Starkey was typing in everything I said into his computer. Friendly and smart he deliberates as he speaks. With my new P.T. I recovered completely.

Professional, friendly, empathetic, thorough. He established a high level of trust on the first appointment. Very satisfied, happy to have him as a trusted provider.

I regret making an appointment for my mother with this doctor. He is rude and jumps to conclusions prior to having all the facts, his staff is rude and has a god complex. I kick myself for putting my mother through it. After the appointment my mother came back crying, she was scared and horrified. The reason she had to go see him was because due to heat exhaustion while at a BBQ she lost consciousness. The Hospital where she was taken gave her a clean bill of health, her primary physician gave her a clean bill of health but sent her to Dr. Starkey for a check up just as a precautionary measure. During her first appointment Dr. Starkey told her he will report her to the DMV and her license might be taken away. He had not run any tests, he had not examined her, yet at the end of the appointment he sent out a report to the DMV. My mother is in her early 50's and not sick nor has any conditions that might cause her to pass out. My mother spoke to her primary physician about Dr. Starkey and he was confused and upset as he had never heard of anyone being reported to the DMV for my mother's case and he has seen many of them. My mother got all her results back and they are all good, she is perfectly fine and she has the results to prove it yet Dr. Starkey didn't bother to wait for the results, he sent off the report and now my mother has to go through the headache of dealing with the DMV to make sure she doesn't get her license taken away. I checked with the DMV about what doctors suppose to report and what they are not. Doctors have to definitely report only when someone looses consciousness while behind the wheel of a car or has prior conditions that can cause the loss of consciousness. My mother was nowhere near a car nor has any conditions. I regret making an appointment for my mother with this doctor. Dr Starkey is a good doctor but his receptionist is rude and obnoxius. We channged doctors because of the way we were treated by his receptionist. It's amazing that the doctor allows her to get away with mistreating patients.

Dr. Starkey was easy to talk to, took the time to explain his diagnosis, supportive, knowledgeable, professional, encouraging. I strongly recommend him.
