Dr. Ramesh Somayajula Ayyala

My family and I have never encountered a doctor such as Dr. Ayyala who is a true master of his craft, compassionate, transparent, and trustworthy. His team and him are the single reason that my sister who suffers from advanced stage Glaucoma has vision today. We came to him a little over two years ago when my sister had a potential catastrophic complication to her vision stemming from a procedure performed by her previous medical team. Dr. Ayyala took her in and moved swiftly and decisively and saved her from complete vision loss. His team and him are always available to us with any questions or concerns. They communicate very well with us at all appointments or via virtual communications (MyChart) and have never had anything but the best interest for the care of my sister in there hearts. My sister who only speaks Spanish feels such a level of trust and calm with Dr. Ayyala and his team, they provide her bi-lingual translation so that she can truly understand any procedures or next steps in her treatment plan. She says he is an absolute rockstar and that she is forever indebted to him for all he and his team have done and continue to do for her. I knew, from the moment I heard his comforting voice, I had found the right doctor for my very difficult case of Glaucoma. Not only is he completely thorough and responsive to my needs and questions, but he is also highly skilled and accurate. He has treated me for about two years now (after unsuccessful treatment from another doctor at another group). His expertise, facility with all appropriate treatment protocols, and knowledge of the disease, has enabled me to maintain my vision. This disease is a particular nasty one, as it can rob you of your vision at anytime. Dr. Ayyala has stabilized my condition and pursued all available options, to maintain and improve the health of my eyes. He is ready to answer the questions I bring to the visits with patience and understanding (I have many), and if I have any questions needing immediate attention after hours, he answers his texts succinctly and immediately. I keep asking him to make sure he maintains his health as he is (I honestly believe) the one person I can count on to make sure I keep my eyesight.

If your looking for a demeaning and condescending doctor then look no further. After two back to back concussions I had the unfortunate luck of needing to be seen by an eye doctor. Dr. Ayyala walked into the room and never introduced himself or the residents he was with but began putting drops in my eye. He never looked at my chart to even see the reason why the concussion program sent me to him. The whole appointment was so terrible that I asked to leave because he was verbally inappropriate.
