On my Initial office visit was I was met by a extremely friendly and professional office staff. After confirming Ultrasound results from previous doctors WE made a decision for surgery of a enlarged left thyroid that comprised my airway and a enlarged parathyroid. Prior to surgery I did due diligence on Dr. Tufano and found him to be the top Thyroid and Parathyroid surgeon in our area. I had no pain/discomfort after surgery. Dr. Tufano and his staffed continued to check on my process after surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Tufano, A true professional.

I saw Dr. Ralph Tufano for evaluation of my large goiter and am extremely grateful for his care and skill. He was very thorough, discussing in detail the risks, benefits, and alternatives to surgery, assisting me to make an informed decision to proceed. I was impressed with his background, experience and skill as well as the high volume of thyroid surgeries he performs per year, due to the fact that thyroid and parathyroid surgery are his only focus. I was also impressed that he is one of the pioneers of 'Scarless Transoral Thyroidectomy. Although I was not a candidate for that groundbreaking procedure, due to the large size of my thyroid, I couldn't be more pleased with my results. He paid meticulous attention to the identification and protection of my Parathyroids, vocal cords and the nerves that control them during the surgery in the state of the art OR at Sarasota Memorial and took great care to make sure that my incision is as small as possible and in a natural crease in my neck.

I was recently faced with having complex tracheal surgery due to cancer recurrence. He is one of the top three thyroid surgeons in the country and possesses the skills necessary to perform procedures not readily available in even large metropolitan centers. The oncology facilities at Sarasota Memorial Hospital are brand new and truly state-of-the-art. Any person with thyroid cancer should definitely contact Dr. Tufano for a consultation and, as appropriate, to have him perform the necessary procedures.

Dr. Tufano is very professional; he listened to my concerns about my problem. He examined the area in question very carefully, and then we had a discussion of the different treatment options. He respected my concerns and when I opted for a certain procedure, he agreed that was the best option at this time. He explained the procedure in detail and gave me a lot of confidence in his experience. I had the procedure done, and have recovered extremely well. If I should have another issue, I would definitely return to him for treatment.

Overall an excellent experience from initial consultation through post surgery follow up. Dr. Tufano provided a very clear explanation of my condition and treatment options. Courteous and professional clinical and administrative support team.

Dr R Tufano, MD and his staff have been amazing. I had a large goiter and decided to have it removed. He took his time explaining my different options. I decided to have the scarless surgery. This being my first surgery ever. The entire process was seamless from getting scheduled to having the procedure. The entire staff at SMH was wonderful and put me at ease. I was referred to Dr Tufano by my endocrinologist for high blood calcium. He explained the entire process of what would happen before, durring and after surgery, and even if surgery was my best option. The scar is minimal, and improving, he also informed me of ways to reduce scarring further. All my questions and concerns were addressed. The office staff was also very helpful, even when I needed help late at night on a weekend. (allergic reaction). I would definitely recommend him for thyroid or parathyroid issues.

I met Dr. Tufano after learning I had hyperparathyroidism. I had been feeling awful for months, with no energy and body aches. Dr. Tufano spent a good deal of time explaining what the medical issue was and how he could surgically fix the situation. He was kind, caring and very compassionate. We scheduled surgery. Within a few days of surgery, I was back to feeling like myself - - before the hyperparathyroidism. I had energy I had been missing for a long time! My surgery was relatively easy, not at all painful and my scar is near non-existent. He is truly skilled. I cannot thank Dr. Tufano for giving me my life back.

Recently I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and was referred to Dr. Tufano. Dr. Tufano clearly explained my options and the pros and cons of each approach. He answered all my questions and and affirmed the surgical approach I selected. His staff was very friendly and helpful. I had my surgery at the new Sarasota Memorial Hospital Cancer Tower which has all the newest facilities. We are so fortunate to have such a great facility here in Sarasota.

Dr Tufano was very patient and did not rush through the visit. Was easy to ask questions and get immediate answers that you would understand. I’m very happy my PCP recommended Dr Tufano. Surgery went well, hardly any pain except a sore throat from the intubation tube for a day. Can hardly see the incision either. I definitely would recommend Dr Tufano for a thyroidectomy!

Dr. Tufano is one of the most skilled, professional, compassionate doctors I have ever been treated by. My endocrinologist in Naples referred me to Dr. Tufano for a parathyroid problem. It was a two hour drive but worth it. Dr. Tufano is very knowledgeable and a great communicator. He listened closely to what I had to say and responded in clear, simple terms I could understand. His PA, Michael, was available throughout the experience and was fantastic. In the past I’ve had surgeries at the Mayo Clinic, and I can say the surgical experience at Sarasota Memorial Hospital was the best ever! Patient care, and even the attention given to my husband who was waiting for me, were wonderful. This experience was definite 10!

I recently had the procedure done for a partial thyroidectomy, due to cancer cells being present. My procedure was done by Dr. Tufano at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The process and procedure was quick and efficient - same day discharge. I greatly appreciate the attentiveness and kindness of Dr. Tufano and his staff. My procedure was completed so that I would end up with no visible scar - a less common procedure than the usual removal of the thyroid. Dr. Tufano was very thorough in explaining how the procedure would be done and answering all the questions that I had. I had a quick recovery time afterwards - minimal level of post surgery pain - no visible scar - and I have healed very nicely in the following weeks. I would highly recommend Dr. Tufano and his team!!!

My experience was extremely positive in all respects. My benign nodule was 8 cm. large and after six weeks, has already reduced in size by almost 65%. Dr Tufano did a good job of explaining options, including regular surgery, in the lead-up to the Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) that I chose, and also managed my expectations about recovery times, etc. The procedure was surprisingly pain free, with the application of the lidocaine being the most uncomfortable. The recovery was quick, and I am glad I chose the RFA option. No scar, no damage to nerves or blood vessels, and my thyroid hormone levels continue to be normal. Dr Tufano is a consummate professional with a great bedside manner. He is so good he actually trains other doctors around the world in RFA techniques. I heartily recommend him and his team.

Dr Tufano performed surgery on my Thyroid and the process went really well. The staff is helpful and courteous and the facility is very nice. Dr Tufano is very patient oriented and communicates well to insure that you are prepared for what to expect from your surgery and recovery. I am Firefighter living in Sarasota, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and was recommended to Dr Tufano by medical professionals I’m close to. Their office staff is beyond courteous and helpful. The Dr and his team, explained the entire procedure down to the details, he called to follow up with me , and displayed a level of compassion that is rare to find these days. I have had 8 various surgeries in several different hospitals/outpatient facilities over the years and not one can compare to the positive experience I had in January with Dr. Tufano and SMH. Dymond greeted us and took me everywhere I needed to go prior to surgery and then checked on me in the pre-op room. She is so kind and compassionate. I chose Dr. Tufano to perform RFA on my benign thyroid nodules. The results speak for themselves... they have greatly reduced in size and are barely noticeable now. I can swallow much better and best of all, RFA has allowed me to avoid surgery! I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Tufano and RFA as a tremendous alternative to surgery.

I traveled to Sarasota from Punta Gorda for my lobectomy. Best experience ever. Dr. Tufano explained every step of my procedure in great detail. The surgery went extremely well with no complications. Do not hesitate to use Dr. Tufano if you have a need for his services. He is a world class surgeon that really cares about his patients.

When I learned that I would likely need thyroid surgery and needed to see a surgeon, I was really thrown off. I didn’t know of any good thyroid surgeons, or even ENT’s. Incredibly, my thyroid specialist told me that a world-renowned thyroid surgeon had just moved from Johns Hopkins to Sarasota and was taking new patients. Talk about timing! I saw Dr Tufano the following week. He took time to explain my options and answer all my questions. By the time I left his office most of my anxiety was gone. The surgery, a thyroid lobectomy, went very well. Having a surgeon that specializes in thyroid surgery is a huge advantage, compared to having a general ENT that may do lots of tonsillectomies and ear tubes, but only a few thyroids per month. I cannot recommend Dr Tufano highly enough. His clinical expertise, surgical skill and bedside manner all exceeded my expectations.

Dr. Tufano saved my life. I had a thyroid cancer that was quite invasive and his delicate surgery skills was able to remove the cancer and literally save me.

He is an amazing surgeon and his staff is just as wonderful as he is. After a botched surgery by another surgeon, Dr. Tufano along with Dr. Russell put my health and my life back on track. They are extremely talented and reassuring. They are easy to talk too and although I had a 7 hour surgery where my life or quality of life was in question, I entered into that surgery very relaxed and confident in their abilities. If you have Dr. Tufano as a surgeon, you are blessed.
