Dr. Radhakrishna K. Rao

I saw Dr Rao for the first time over 10 years ago. He ran test after test and finally found what multiple other doctors couldn't. I recently started seeing him again and he is always so helpful and tries to get to the root of the problem instead of just prescribing medicine and sending me on my way. & not sure what is up with some of these reviews, I've never had any problems with the front desk workers or Dr Rao! I definitely recommend this nuerologists office ????

Dr Rao is an exceptional doctor. He spent time doing a very thorough examination on my son, he spoke to me about his condition, he offered us some solutions. I appreciate his outside of the box approach, his attention to details, and the quality of care he provided.

He is an excellent and caring doctor. It's hard to find a doctor like Dr. Rao. He genuinely cares about his patients. Dr. Rao has been taking care of my son for years, and we are very grateful for what he has done.

Dr. Rao has been my sons Dr since he was 2.5-3 years of age. he is now going on 23.

Please don’t even consider attending this doctor’s office. I’ve never left any negative reviews, this is my first one, but I felt like we had to let other parents know to stay away. What a horrible experience we had. 1. What some reviewers consider “meticulous “ is really a doctor who is trying to bill you the highest possible dollar amount from your insurance and you. He drags each appointment out as long as possible so he can charge the highest CPT code. We had a 4pm appointment, we were stuck til 7pm…. He tries to keep the conservation going for hours…first hour he was lecturing us about the electronic devices and how bad they are (we don’t let our kids use any), then he talked for about 20-25 minutes about our child, and for another 1.5 hours we were trying to leave his office! He started talking to my husband about my husband’s health, his work and other topics unrelated to our kid’s appointment. 2. Another crazy thing!!!! The next day he called our child’s pediatrician and tried to cancel the MRI that our pediatrician had already ordered and gotten approved, just so he could order it HIMSELF. My child’s pediatrician office informed us about it and asked us what was going on, and why Dr. Rao called them repeatedly to cancel an MRI. 3. Of course the bill we got was for the highest CPT code (the most hours and the most complicated diagnosis, which our kid doesn’t have). We paid the bill and decided to forget about our truly weird experience with Dr.Rao’s office. If only it was that easy!!!!! Next week we got the receipt for the paid amount. Two weeks after that we started receiving letters from Dr.Rao asking us to pay a bill (that we ALREADY paid). We called the office several times and left several voicemails asking them to correct the billing error on their end, indicating that we have a receipt, bank statement and let them know the date the transaction was posted. After several weeks, while we kept getting the same letters every two weeks, Dr.Rao called us himself (at 9pm!!), we told him personally the bill was paid back in May, and questioned why they keep sending us letters to pay the bill, which was already paid. Dr.Rao himself said that we won’t be getting any letters and the issue is resolved, without apologizing for their error. Silly us for thinking that would be the end of it. We just got another letter in the mail saying we have not paid the bill, we have not contacted them and THREATENING to turn us to collections if we don’t pay. Honestly, speechless. I am warning all of you. Please stay away from this office unless you enjoy paying to listen to a man talk about anything but the reason you came for 3 hrs and then harass you for bills you’ve already handled. Dr. Rao is amazing. He spoke directly to my child making him a part of his treatment. This was such a refreshing change from doctors that ignore children. He asked my son how the medication made him feel and if he had issues. He talked to me too to get my input on my son's progress. My neighbor took her son to him and he helped get him off half a dozen medications that were making him a zombie and on track with a legit diagnosis. He was extremely responsive. First this doctor has a line for every child. He then said he is going to do test on the child most of them gene test and other test at his office. Well it sound good so far the gene test is just something he saids ro get you to come in to do test at his office with his outdated eeg that looks like a stone age equipment that i doubt it works. Then he wants sleep study in his office he dont tell parents they have to sleep in a sofa very uncomfortable sitting up. Well then they tell you to sleep with your child in the bed so guess what the machine will record you moving because that was my case. My child sleeps in one side wakes up in the dame side the one that tosses alot its me so waist of a horrible night. The gene test will never ever get done because they just do it to get you to do the other test in there office to get you to comply because you want to get to the bottom of your child issue is baite and switch. I have called a million time and they will tell you the doctor will call you and he never does. If we all make a complaint against his license is the only way we all going to get justice for his deceptive fraudulent scheme is making a complaint at florida board of medicine. Clear your day out. This apt will take all day. And forget calling to ask for any results. It's been 9 months .... still no results . I call and the lady on the phone is rude af and says it's not her responsibility it's the Dr's and hangs up. The man is a genious

A blessing to find such an amazing man and doctor!! What is time when you get the level of care and attention you get?? Highly recommended!!❤

Dr Rao is an extremely knowledgeable Dr. He has wonderful bedside manners and talks directly to my child, treating him with the utmost respect. I appreciate the fact that he is not quick to just throw a label on my child and will actually do the necessary work to figure out what is going on not just emotionally, psychologically and mentally, but biologically and genetically with him. He’s also not one to just throw a bunch of medications upon your child. Which to me is very important! So many doctors today want to simply medicate, not problem solve. As for his office staff, if you find the front desk to be “rude” consider the fact that she may be shy until she gets to know you. She’s not rude at all. I thought so too at first, until she got to know us. Now she’s very friendly. If you can take into account that not everyone is talkative immediately, and give her a chance, you may just find she’s very pleasant. It’s rare to find a gem of a Dr who truly has your child’s beat interest at heart and will go above and beyond to do ANYTHING to make not only their life better but yours as well. Plan on being there for a bit, as he loves to spend quality time with each patient and ensure you know everything about your child. He WILL get to the bottom of what’s going on, and he WILL help. The receptionist Maria was very rude. I asked her if she could repeat what time my son's appt was and she said "I already told you 4pm!" She seemed in a hurry to get me off the phone. I was to upset to the point of cancelling the appointment. Very rude and different compared to the first person I had talked to a month ago.

Dr. Rao is one of the best dr's I've known. He is so caring and so knowledgeable and intelligent. Totally amazing and I am so glad we found him.

Dr. Rao misdiagnosed my child. He made it seem like oh your child is fine theres nothing wrong with him. So he just picked a disorder and sent us on our way. Never really got down and seen my childs behavior problems and my concerns as a mother that my child was constantly putting himself in danger. I would not recommend this place. Does not care about your child. He cared more about getting my childs tonsils removed then my childs actual behavior condition. Dr. Rao misdiagnosed my child. He has done so much to help my little girl since birth. He is amazing and very involved in her care. Love him.

The front desk woman is very unprofessional. After sending a fax to their office, I called to check to make sure they received it, and she was unnecessarily rude to me. I told her I got a confirmation on Friday (today is Wednesday) to better assist her in finding the fax, but she didn't want to look and started yelling at me about how she "ALREADY TOLD ME TO CALL BACK ANOTHER TIME." I asked her if she was like this to every patient and she hung up. Such a shame, considering how much I respect Dr. Rao. But his choice in hiring is subpar to say the least. Women like her shouldn't handle patients in a delicate situation, which is why we are switching neurologists and finding someone who is both educated with a professional office staff. EDIT (1 week after initial review): His office staff is withholding my son's paperwork because "THEY READ MY GOOGLE REVIEW". I have asked my new neurologists' staff to send a request, and they told me that they already did, two times. They sent a 3rd request this morning, and I was advised to call the Dr. Rao's office again to make sure they received it. Same woman picked up, told me she "READ MY GOOGLE REVIEW AND DR. RAO WILL CHECK ON IT WHEN HE HAS TIME." and hung up. We are working on 3 weeks to send 1 fax. I cannot make an appointment without this paperwork and we are getting held up over someone's childish antics. I wish I were making this up, but I'm not going to get bullied into changing my review because she threw a tantrum and doesn't know how to keep up with the paperwork. Dr. Rao is great. Nothing bad to say about him at all. But his staff. The one that answers phones and stuff is very rude. She shouldn't treat patients or callers the way she does. Dr. Rao is absolutely wonderful. However his staff is extremely lazy and rude. It is very sad that my child will not continue their care with such a great doctor. I have never been more upset in dealing with a doctors office, as what I have been dealing with his staff.

2 Stars given as I have been with a dear friend of mine and though I was not a patient I was merely there as moral support. Though I will say Dr. Rao is an extremely polite and professional person, the same can not be said for his receptionist truly a belligerent woman who lacks the capacity of any human emotions I can not stress enough how rude she is and should not be in a role dealing with such delicate situations. Though some may not read these reviews I believe it is imperative to leave feedback so that others can if they wish use the information given to make a formal decision on whether to use services. Dr Rao is thorough and will spend a lot of time with you and your kids. He has been such a patient resource. Another reviewer said "meticulous" and I completely agree. He's a little old fashioned, strict and can sometimes take the conversation topic on a tangent, but otherwise he is very knowledgeable and will invest that knowledge into you and your kids. This Doctor is very slow and meticulous with the patient. He was so interested in explaining and getting to know my child. He was so educated in so many areas and spoke in a manner that was understandable. He was a great find in Tampa. We are looking forward to working with him. Would recommend Dr. Rao to anyone. He has always been extremely kind and patient with my little one and has helped her throughout the years.

He will talk to you forever , because he dont have patient's. He will keep giving you appointments . I paid more money for him than surgeon . Dont believe his sugar coated words . I would consider our experience with Dr Rao average when compared to other doctors we have consulted with but not his office coordinator; She was extremely rude and only added more stress to a stressful situation. I hope she never gets treated the way she treated us.
