Pushkar Mehra

Very bad at communicating with their patients. They generally do not pick up a call and have no interest in patients' status and recovery.

I am currently a patient of Dr. Mehra referred by my orthodontist. He seems nice and knowledgable, but his (his team's) guidance to help patients prepare surgery is very limited. Things can be easily messed up if you are not proactively reaching out to them. They would not let you know when to schedule and detailed steps of the whole process. They would take a reactive approach and wait "customers" to walk in the "grocery" to check out at the cashier stand. They are not interested in reaching out to you and give you tips on what to prepare and how to recovery soon. So after a couple of months not hearing anything from them, your orthodontist asks you the status of the surgery or your teeth become more painful. Then you realize that they have not communicated with you since last year. And you haste to call their office, all you get is just "we will pass the message." Then after two weeks of calling them, you eventually get someone who can schedule an appointment. But you would be told "sorry, the next available appointment would be 6 months later." A family member had a rare resorption of the condyles the hold the jaw to the skull. Dr. Mehra worked with him and an orthodontist for two years in preparation for a 12 hour surgery with a team of 3 surgeons to perform bilateral temporomandibular joint replacement with 3-D printed parts made of titanium, cobalt and a NASA invented resin. His jaw had receded over a 10 year period. Dr. Mehra and his team put it back where is should be. The surgery was even more complex than it sounds. They cured his sleep apnea and constant fatigue. Their follow-up post-surgery was intensive and caring. Boston Medical Center has my family forever in their debt. I have read some comments here and would tell you to do whatever you can to have this kind and talented doctor in your corner. The best OMFS - couldn’t be happier that I chose Mehra to be my surgeon.

He’s an excellent oral surgeon. He cane highly recommended by my orthodontist, and I’m so glad I did. He did not try to push me to have more surgeries than I wanted but worked with me to give me the best results. He was honest, straightforward, and had a good sense of humor, but in the end, what really counts is that I was very pleased with the results after getting upper jaw surgery.

Appointment was at 10:30, and I was told to arrive 15 minutes early. I rate 1 star for arriving 10:15 but not being seen until 11:22. Place just doesn't run on time. As we were leaving another couple couldn't make their appt. because it was over an hour off and they had to leave.

For 2 years we have made a lengthy commute to Dr. Mehra's office searching for relief for my daughters severe TMJ. Dr. Mehra was our choice because of his success stories. In December we were told we had approval for a surgery. The excitement in my daughter was wonderful, she was finally getting help. Surgery was scheduled for June 11th. We got our new MRI and Xrays, preparations were made, time taken off. Many, many conversations with the office staff leading up to this. On June 7 I came home to a message from someone I have never had contact with before in all these months simply saying "there will be no surgery due to insurance". Click. Hang up. Multiple times I was told insurance was all set. I realize insurance could have reconsidered for whatever reason, but how unprofessional to offer no expanded explanation. I have called, left emails, no response back. Just dropped and ignored. The worst part was telling my daughter and seeing her face after being so ready and happy that someone could finally help her feel relief. A follow up to our experience.....I now have in writing from our insurance company that my daughter's surgery would have been covered! No inquiry made from this office at all! SO UNPROFFESIONAL!!! At 16, I was told I would need double jaw surgery by another doctor. At 21, Dr. Mehra and his team changed this plan to just a top jaw surgery and only that. The day of my surgery, I’m being asked to sign papers to have my one and only wisdom tooth removed from my bottom jaw (Never spoke to anyone about this before). They suggested they remove my one wisdom tooth at the same time so they WOULDN’T NEED TO DO ANOTHER SURGERY LATER. Fast forward a few months, I see Dr. Mehra again and now he’s talking about a second surgery????? To correct my bite AGAIN. My teeth don’t line up, almost wose than before. I had a mild underbite, now I have a huge gap between top and bottom. The healing process from the first surgery was awful and miserable, why would I want to put myself through that again when I was told only one surgery was needed to being with?????? I’m incredibly dissatisfied and wish I had never done the surgery. Secondly, I have a friend who went through the double jaw surgery. Her jaw no longer closes properly. DO NOT GO HERE! If I could give 0 stars I would. I called to make an appointment in November of 2016 for my jaw. It pops, locks and hurts on a regular basis. I called and got an appointment for February 17th. Not a big deal. Go in for my appointment, get x-rays. Told there is an issue with my jaw that they want me to get an MRI for. As I was leaving, we made another appointment for April and they told me they would call Milton Hospital for me (a hospital I suggested) get the MRI and they will call me once approved. No phone call. Gave it 2 weeks-nothing. I called the office 3 separate times and left messages on every single call-nothing back. Went online and emailed their "contact me" link and told them my frustration. Got a call at 7pm that night that they will call Milton Hospital for me and let me know when the appointment is. A few more days go by, no call. I call Milton Hospital and they have no record of me. I make the appointment myself, emailed that contact me link again and told them I had the appointment for March 17th. Go in for my follow-up appointment in April that I previously made in February to go over the MRI. No apology or anything for the frustration I have been going through with their service. All they said was "things fall through the cracks". My insurance changed starting June 1st so they suggested to email my new insurance information so we can go ahead and get approval to have a procedure done. I emailed 2 people that the Doctor told me to THREE times in a week. Only got a response on the last one on June 8th "I apologize for the delay, I have been working an emergency case. Give me no later than tomorrow, to give you an complete update" and it's June 21st now and have not heard a thing. I am beyond frustrated and don't want anyone else to go through this. Ive been calling for 3 weeks straight and the phone just rings and rings and u cant leave a voice mail its ridiculous does any1 work here ??? Answer the phone !!!! ????????

Best surgeon for obstructive sleep apnea!

Nothing but the BEST! World class surgeon and a great personality with an intoxicating sense of humor! He is honest, truthful and upfront--no promises--just delivery of results what he thinks are expected

Dr. Mehra is a miracle worker oh my gosh he got my upper and lower jaw in the best position i almost cried when my splint came out and all my teeth touched i am going to remember Dr. Mehra every time I look into the mirror and chew food I would highly recommend him, he gave me the confidence to show my side profile and to be able to chew thanks Dr Mehra.

I had upper and lower reconstructive jaw surgery at age 16 I was the youngest patient that he worked on and I'm happy I was given the opportunity to be the first he was amazing and I would not recommend anyone other than Dr.Mehra.The passion that he shows is so amazing and makes you feel comfortable. Dr.Mehra changed my life for the better. So If your looking to get the job done right and 110% perfect then he's the perfect fit for you.
