Dr. Philip A Azordegan

In the nicest way, I was told I was a fat slob, and that my back issues could not be helped anywhere in the state of MS. A procedure was named that could help, but there were only vague references as to who and where. While grateful for the candor, and information share, I am no better off from my visit. At least I got some honesty.

I had been in three different hospitals with three groups of doctors trying to figure out what was wrong with my lower back. Phillip is a friend and client of mine so I called him. He saw me the next morning. He asked questions and asked me to lean forward so he could tap me on my back. I went ballistic when he did. He set up an MRI for me the next day and called me with the results which backed his prognosis up. He got me an appt. with a good doctor who could help me get well and I did. He spent 15 minutes with me a solved my problem. He’s a genius and a wonderful physician!

Dr Azordegan messed my daughter up. Gave us incorrect information about what she needed which caused her to have three operations. Don’t go to him if you’ve had a car accident. He doesn’t mind operating on you but then wants to have nothing to do with depositions etc. to help her in court. Would not recommend him for any spine surgery.

Dr. Azordegan is a wonderful neurosurgeon. His bed side manner is amazing. His staff are very friendly and very comforting. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

My husband David was referred here for neck issues. Extremely impressed with the specialist treatment recommendation, explanations, staff and concern for my husband. Would refer anyone here for care in the future. Very thankful for Dr Azordegan’s time and expertise.

Dr. Azordegan is truly a people. He was very informative on my diagnosis and show me an explanation of why he made his diagnosis. I felt comfortable and knew I was in good hands.

In June of 2000, Dr. Azordegan found an avm(arteriovenusmalformation) at the base of my brain. My family and I were going to Pensacola for vacation. He scheduled my brain surgery for July. What about my vacation? Go he told me. I said,"What"?? Then, he calmly asked me,"Do you trust me?". Yes. I went on my vacation. When July came, I was in surgery for 13 hours. I awoke to find my oldest daughter's head on my chest. I had staples all around the back of my head. In 2 weeks I returned to my job as a hospice social worker. In December, Dr. Azorgegan found an aneurysm in the center of my brain. That surgery was only 4 hours long. Today, Feb. 12, 2019 I am a healthy 60 year old woman. I have no loss of vision, paralysis, or any other disabilities from my surgeries. Philip Azordegan, along with God, saved my life. Twice. He prays over his hands before each surgery. I had been a patient for 2 years at NSNS for my lower back. In the spring of 2018, I started experiencing other symptoms in what I thought was my thoracic, but turned out to be a cervical herniation. After months of pain, undiagnosed issues by physical medicine that resulted in paying for an unnecessary thoracic MRI, I was finally diagnosed with cervical herniation. However, once I received that diagnosis, a nerve conduction study was ordered, only to be told by the surgeon I’d been seeing originally for my lumbar that he was unwilling to do anything about my neck pain and only refer me carpal tunnel surgery. Thankfully, I took the referral because I ended up with Dr. Azordegan. Dr. Azordegan read my cervical MRI, conducted a thorough exam and determined that not only did I have severe carpal tunnel in both hands, but was also likely suffering from nerve compression at my C6/C7 herniation that was glaring on my images, also known as double crush syndrome. He discussed all of my options with me, surgery was decided on then scheduled, and I have since not been in pain for the first time in almost a year. I am now almost a month post op with little to no numbness in either hand, and the pain in my upper back lower neck is finally gone. Dr. Azordegan is an incredible doctor, a very kind man and he has a sincere desire to help his patients. That’s a rare find these days. I highly recommend Dr. Azordegan. Dr. Azordegan took his time with me an went over all my questions I had about my ruptured disc in my neck. I couldn't have picked a better doctor. His staff was amazingly nice an friendly. I had a problem with my insurance company an they helped me with getting the surgery approved. The over all surgery went great. No more pain in my neck or arm. Hospital staff at River Oaks was very nice an friendly. I would recommend Dr. Azordegan an his staff to anyone I know. They are miracle workers at least for me. I can't thank them enough. I have been a patient of Dr. Azordegan since 2004. I have ongoing spinal issues. I would never consider going to a different neurosurgeon. He is thorough and kind. He gives you all options so you can make an informed decision. Sometimes there is no solution that eliminates pain. He is very patient and never pushes surgery even when it’s the only option. He is truly a professional and I am blessed to be his patient.

Great caring surgeon who gives you the facts and your options without pressuring you to have surgery. I decided to have surgery for Carpal tunnel on my hand with great results .Dr Azordegan and his nurse Clemmie are wonderful and caring professionals who I would strongly recommend.

Dr Azordegan is the best. He operated on my neck about 9 months ago. I was in pretty bad pain! He explained the procedure in a way that I could understand and he was very concerned after the surgery. I am now still pain free! thank you very much:)

Definitely one of the best. Dr. Azordegan is easy to talk to, shows true patient concern and compassion, and isn’t a “quick to cut” neurosurgeon. I have seen him several times over the years for various neuro-related issues. I highly recommend him.
