Seen him at another location for Reoccurring ear infections, gave me some ear drops and said there was white stuff in my ear drum then told me to come to his kc location to clean out my ears so we could figure out what was going on…showed up to that appointment and was just told my ears are dry…I asked him why they could be causing pain into my jaw and cheek and he said he didn’t know because they are clean, he then decided to write me another script, so I asked if he was going to still clean them out and he said he didn’t need to because they were dry…literally paid my copay and I’m sure I’ll be getting a bill and drove an hr for him to write me a script and tell me absolutely nothing! He does not care about his patients and is just there to get paid, terrible excuse for a dr! Needless to say I do NOT recommend him at all! I met Dr Shapiro in 1999 when my 7 yr old was sick. He removed his tonsils and adenoids. In 2002 fixed my septum. In 2015 removed my other sons tonsils and adenoids. I’m 2017 he rushed me to surgery and saved my life. I had an infection that was almost to my brain stem. I would had died if he didn’t do this right. The review on here about bad bedside is so far from the truth. I’m on the medical Field myself. He’s quiet. Not rude! Dr. Schapiro has amazing bedside manners! When my son had his traumatic surgery he was so comforting to me and my family. When he would pull the fire moucus and blood from me for weeks to follow when it hurt he would stop, ask me if I’m ok he’s VERY comforting and has AMAZING professional qualities. He would even hand me a tissue and say ate you ok. Do you need more time. He has the energy of a father figure. Again that review is way off. I’m wondering if they thought they were seeing Peter Shapiro and had another Dr. None of that is his style at all. He even gave my family my pics of my surgery and spent 30 minutes explaining to them what he did. When I had my surgery which was almost 5 hours he made sure my mom and my fiancé were OK in the waiting room. I go back and see him this week for my sons thyroid he’s already had surgery on at once. Dr. Shapiro is the only person who I would trust is my ENT or anybody that I love I would trust this man with my life this man saved my life definitely 100 stars if they had it. Dr. Shapiro was very informative, and listened to my situation entirely. He is a mature doctor who knows what he is doing. Not like some younger doc's who hand you a print out ., and tell you to have a good day.

This Dr. has absolutely no bed side manner. Took a family member in for an appt. as they are getting older and are having a hard time hearing. Family member said their ears felt compacted. Dr. did not explain what he was going to do or have any sympathy towards her. He just tilted her head to the side and proceeded to examine her ears and started using instruments to pull ear wax out. She was in obvious pain and Dr. had no empathy towards her what so ever. No explaination of what was wrong or why she was having problems hearing, no suggestions to get her hearing tested for hearing aids as she is getting older. Dr just wrote her a prescription for drops without explaining to her why she needed to use them or what they were for and walked out. Felt like a classic Doctor patient moment... Just write a prescription ,get out and give me your money. Staff/nurses were very friendly and helpful though. Will not be taking her back for a "follow-up". Exceptional experience. Dr. Shapiro was a wonderful surgeon, and the staff was always helpful and kind. They ensured I had a smooth prep, surgery, and follow-up. I couldn’t be happier with my decision and would highly recommend to anyone.

I was recommended to Dr. Shapiro from a fellow vocalist 20+ years ago. I have seen him on-and-off since; every time the diagnosis and treatments are flawless and smart. I have gone in from everything from a vocal scope, to sinus -itis, to a bumped head - where my sinus cavity was affected! Dr. Shapiro is incredibly smart, knowledgeable, friendly, AND easy to talk to. If you get a vocal scope, ask to watch on the machine that has the monitor where you can see what’s going on, it’s amazing. I was recommended to Dr. Shapiro from a fellow vocalist 20+ years ago. Dr. Shapiro is fantastic. I had reoccurring ear infections and my eustachian tube didn't work properly. Dr. Shapiro put tubes in my ears and it worked great. I was in and out of the office in less than 30mins. A great no-nonsense doctor.

I have never felt so gaslit or dismissed in my entire life. I came in with debilitating symptoms of 6+ years and he told me it was just light headed ness and that he couldn’t help me, within 5 minutes of meeting me. He tried to write off my symptoms with various excuses and when I asked questions I was met with shrugs. He asked if I had allergies, I said no, and he blamed it on allergies anyway. All three of my kids have had tubes implanted by Dr. Shapiro at a very young age, they are now 27, 22 and 19!! Dr. Shapiro is a GREAT ENT doc and surgeon. I highly recommend him. I'm now a patient of his, too and have seen him regularly for a decade, and he did a septoplasty on me that was very successful. Thank you for your caring and thorough medical care over the years!!! Dr. Shapiro has been outstanding from diagnosis through surgery and follow up. He is an expert in his field and also a compassionate person, which is hard to find in medicine these days. His staff has been accommodating in answering questions and calling back promptly, and they got me in same-day (twice) despite a busy schedule for an immediate need. He is the most careless and rude doctor I have encountered. He doesn’t pay attention to what your concerns are and quickly will advise some testing that usually are not paid by the insurance. After two experiences with this doctor I DO NOT recommend him at all in any situation.

On my second visit with Edward Schapiro he told me that he had no idea what was wrong with me and he couldn't help me when I went in there for an ear appointment. I had told him I had just had surgery on my nose and when he found nothing wrong with my ears, even though they've hurt for months, he goes and lift up my head with my nose! This was right after I told him I just had surgery on my nose!!! Then you seem so surprised when I told him not hurt. I then went out to my car and cried because of the pain from my nose! Why are you looking at my nose when I'm here for an ear pain?! Both times I have gone to see him have been a complete waste. You told me that nothing was wrong with my ears and I said there is something wrong if they've been hurting! How can there be nothing wrong but I'm in pain?! He was very nice and considerate of how I felt and even complimented my dress and told my husband he should take me out for dinner since I looked so nice today!!!

Dr.Shapiro is a straight forward doctor. He might not hold you and sing to you as he is talking to you but he will do a great job with your health. I don't need hugs and customer service. I need a great Dr. Thank you Dr. Shapiro.

Dr Shapiro did my sons surgery 15 years ago and my daughters surgery 20 years ago and now my 2 month old granddaughter is going to see him. I have NEVER had any issues with him, he is very straight forward but he does wonderful work and after all that’s what’s most important.

I've seen Dr. Shapiro 3 times now. 1st appointment I went, I had a tumor on my tongue. He refused to do surgery, I was not happy. Went back a month later because tumor starting becoming more painful. He mentioned we could do surgery but it will be extremely painful for me. He put me on an antibiotic to see if it would help. 10 days later o seen him again because the antibiotic didn't help. We scheduled surgery for January 26th. I have to say that he did a fantastic job! He's not a very talkative doctor, he's very straight forward about what's going on. It's been 4 days since surgery, and I completely understand why he didn't want to do surgery, because the pain I would be in. But he did a really great job. I had to call his office yesterday regarding more pain medication because I had ran out and I was still in severe pain. He said it wasn't a problem and wrote a script for more. If your looking for a ENT specialist, he's the one! He knows what he's doing and he's not going to beet around the Bush about what's going on! Great job Dr. Shapiro! Extremely unlikely. He overlooked an enlarged thyroid with multiple, large nodules. Rudely walked out during my time with him, and lectured about the structure of the inner ear and told me to work through the vertigo. Very uncomfortable and frustrating healthcare experience.

Dr. Shapiro operated on my sinuses in 2010 when my passageways needed some enlarging and again in 2017 when I had a fungal sinus infection that was not completely responding to in-office cleanings. He is very capable and thorough, clearly explaining the diagnosis, treatment, and post-op care. He is always on time with appointments, and it is simple to schedule appointments. I love that a person always answers the phone (during office hours) and that his capable staff is professional yet person

Doctor spent 3 minutes with me and determined nothing was wrong even though I still have symptoms months later. Office Staff were cordial. No problems with their Accounts Receivables Department. Just got my post insurance bill for $144. I'm going to promptly pay the bill so tee times aren't effected.

I enjoyed my visits with Dr. Shapiro. I wish my new insurance had him in network. Its nice to see an independent doctor still exists too. He does use the Saint Lukes office space when he's out in Lee's Summit, but still is his own independent practice.

his staff got me in that day. dr shapiro is caring and smart and compassionate. when my primary would not help me help me I was upset. but he listened to me and knew there was a problem and treated me. I praise God that I got to see him as a patient. so grateful.
