Dr. Paul Stephen Saenz

I injured my knee and came to my clinic appointment in severe pain and unable to bear weight. Dr. Saenz ordered an xray, and since the xray was normal, he dismissed my pain level and told me to rest it. My pain persisted and I returned to see him 3 more times. In the first 2 follow up visits, he offered me no diagnosis and said an MRI was not necessary. He again told me to just rest it and clearly did not take my pain level seriously. On the 3rd followup visit, I insisted on an MRI. The MRI showed a definite problem that was causing my severe pain. Only then did he take my pain seriously. I went to another doctor for treatment. I was in pain for 6 weeks before the MRI was done, and Dr. Saenz dismissed my pain level during those 6 weeks. My experience with him was terrible. Doctor Saenz is a stand up guy. One of the best... But his coordinator Daniella was soo rude on the phone and extremely unhelpful. She did not make me want to continue being a patient at the office with how unprofessional she behaved over a phone call. Very passive aggressive. I absolutely love the care Dr.Saenz and his staff have given me before and after my surgery .

Highly Recommend...He has been my Sports Doctor since 2008 and his diagnosis and treatments for every issue I have had has been spot on.

- 30+ min wait before getting a room - Office refuses to see you for more than one problem per visit ("doctors don't have enough time"). My back, shoulder, and knee all hurt but I chose back b/c it hurt the most. - He x-rayed my back, and diagnosed "slight bulging disk". He was "not impressed", and many people get bulges without ever knowing. Did not realize my bulges had to be impressive for you to want to tell me more, and I am pretty sure I would not want to spend hundreds of dollars of hard-earned money PER VISIT if *I* wasn't in pain. - I came back for my shoulder. He tugged on it, and told me I am a "long-ligamented person" (i.e. I am more flexible). That taught me nothing and treated nothing. Assigned me PT - Came back for knee. Did not provide any conclusions. Assigned PT. He keeps trying to run out of the room before I can ask more questions. Many hundreds of dollars wasted, still experience these issues after months of PT.

Cannot speakly highly enough about Dr. Saenz and the entire team at SMASA. Their combined knowledge and broad level of expertise make them a go to for sports related injuries... Truly pioneers in Sports Medicine in San Antonio.

Outstanding! I have being seeing him for more than 20 yrs. He has always been spot on. During my life I have seen more than ten doctors for my knees and he has been the best.

I am a senior citizen, old beat up jock. This man has kept me going for years, including the Senior Games, and he will attempt knowledgeable physical therapy before surgery. This man has kept me out of pain for a long time, I can't say enough good things about this young man.

Was his patient 3 years ago for a left PCL knee tear due to a football injury. He did a great job and I recovered through PT in 6 months. I don't have any problems anymore.

Don't waste your time. His office staff referred me to a radiology group that had previously misdiagnosed me (they said I had a cyst, when I had tumors). When I told them this, and asked for a different radiology group, they argued with me. I went to Dr. Saenz for a sports injury that I've seen several other health care professionals for, and he made a comment that perhaps my sports injury was because I'm crazy. Tomorrow I'll see my pcp for a referral for physical therapy. Find a different doc
