Dr McAfee is an amazing surgeon and wonderful guy. Dr McAfee operated on me twice-once on my cervical spine and once on my lumbar spine. Prior to both surgeries I was in excruciating pain. Immediately after both surgeries I was pain free. I could not walk prior to the lumbar surgery. Seven weeks post surgery I was playing pickle ball. I could barely breathe without pain prior to the cervical spine surgery-immediately post surgery I was pain free. Dr McAfee gave me my life back. Pull McAfee operated on me nearly 20 years ago. TO this it still like a miracle. I SUFFERED with so much pain till I was referred to him. I would recommend him to anyone . An thank you again.

Dr.Mcafee did my lower decompression spinal fusion,after half my life of pain and once the numbness started I got it done,did a great job no more pain,his staff is professional as well,always their to answer calls.

Dr McAfee operated on my lower back in 2008. I had been told by two other orthopedic surgeons that I should have the surgery because of pain, but that I would probably never walk again. Since the surgery I have had no pain and am walking just fine. I am sincerely grateful to Dr. McAfee.

Dr. Paul McAfee was my best researched Spinal Surgeon back in 1999, as an expert in Spinal Scoliosis Surgeries & based on word of mouth, as there was no way on earth that I would trust my back to any Community Hospital Surgeon, when my final of 9 Epidurals no longer worked after 2 years. My story below of 4 Surgeries by Dr. McAfee over a 19 year period & the expected result that I should not have been able to work anymore after my 1st Surgery, but he has kept me going! At age 33, my problems began after playing Softball, with lack of Leg strength & pain in my hips and sides of my legs. MRI showed I had Spinal Stenosis & everyone I saw said "You're too Young for this Issue". I got tired of hearing it and decided to research myself and found that this Issue typically starts at age 55. Finally, in 2000, I had my 1st of 4 needed De-Compressive Laminectomies, w/ Fusion (Back to work in 6 Months), 2nd in 2007, 3rd in 2012 (6 weeks off) & 2019 w/ major Fusion Revision. Dr McAfee changed my life. I could not shop, I could not work, and my right arm hung by my side and was almost useless. The pain was constant. I couldn't even get comfortable to sleep. I replaced a disc at C7-T1 and I have my life back. I would recommend him to ANYONE from ANYWHERE.

3 years with a herinahed disc more pain then I can discribe here. That was before the surgery. After. No pain I was able to stop taking the pain meds as little as 1 week after the surgery. Wish I had gone eariler would have saved me so much grife pain and money. It is nice to be able to use the computer and drive again with out pain. And as a software developer being able to use the computer is a must for me. I can once again work without pain. My issue was with c5 to c7. You can not even see the surgical scare now and it has not even been 2 months since the surgery. I would recommend if you have unbearable pain from a heritaged/extrude disc. Dr. Paul McAfee performed a 60 degree scoliosis corrective surgery on me when I was 15 years old. He did an absolutely incredible job and kept me as calm as possible throughout the process. My recovery was extremely fast, given the extent of the surgery, and my scar is now barely visible. Dr. McAfee has allowed me to live a normal, pain-free adult life and I'm extremely grateful! Performed VATS in November 1996. He was ranked as one of the best Neuro-Thoracic Surgeons at that time. Complications resulting in development of a career ending spinal cord Syrinx. Key Resident at the time (Lee), described in personal interview that McAfee disregarded patient selection protocol to complete a last minute presentation of “Study Results”. Dr. McAfee refused to see me after discovery of of post-surgery complication. Is this the kind of professional responsibility you want?

He worked on c-3 through c-7. I was experiencing bad pain ,numbness and loss of strenghth. Within days the pain and numbness were gone and were working on the strength. Great job doctor. Nice bedside manner and talented. He invented some of the devices he implanted. Dont go to anyone else.thankyou doctor.

I've had 2 surgeries with Dr. McAfee. He has done an amazing job. Love him. The only regrets I have, that I hadn't done them early enough and had to spend many years in misery and sufferings.

Dr. McAfee and his staff have been nothing less than stellar in all aspects. I had surgery in August of 2017 and can tell it was done extremely well. His staff is responsive to communication and they really do care.

I spent an entire year being bounced back and forth between doctors and pain management doctors, 3 injections, traction 3 times a week for 6 months nothing helped, depression set in, this was an injury received at work. Finally It was determined I had reached my maximum potential forever stuck to a desk job. Thank God workers comp decided that a 4th opinion was needed sending me to two different people to analyze all my test and MRIs and Nerve conduction study and they said they absolutely couldn't understand why I was told nothing could be done. By some strange fate both of the surgeons could not see me till a much later date so one referred me to Dr. Mcafee and from my first visit I was amazed at how professional they were. I met with his Nurse Practitioner who's name I can not recall but oh my God she was amazing she listened was polite and said she believed me based on a 7 month old MRI so off I went for a 4th MRI. Next appointment was with the Doc himself. The man is very calming laid back he took the time to explain in GREAT detail what was needed to correct my issue explaining the process of the L4,L5,S1 fusion and the outcome would be very good for my quality of life.... My surgery staff and after was completely Amazing, late night kinda sucked because it's late night but the staff was attentive and came upon calling. I am now 5 weeks in and after 4 days I got rid of my walker and am using my cane... PLEASE remember if u have this type of surgery it is absolutely imperative that you get up and walk ASAP when finally home... even if u do laps in your house the first few days.. seriously best advice I can give, I know everyone's different but this man and his staff are Great people and they project confidence in you that they carry as well. I thank them all whomever they all were for all their help from the front desk ladies to the post surgery team!! Highly recommend!!! Do not go to anyone else if you can help it. Dr McAfee is truly a great surgeon. He is skillful, precise, brilliant & competent, & even has a sense of humor he uses when needed to get you through the ordeal of surgery & recovery. His entire team is wonderful too (Heather, the CRNP's, each & every one of them). He fixed my lumbar spinal stenosis amongst other lumbar disc problems and I am most grateful to him. He gave me my life back. If you have to have surgery, trust that you have made the correct choice with Dr. McAfee. I was lucky to have found him. St. Joseph's works in tandem with Dr. McAfee as they work to meet his high standards. When the hospital staff speak highly of your surgeon, that adds to the patient's sense of comfort. Dr. McAfee has operated on my wife twice in the past 6 years. In 2010, my wife suffered a collapsed cervical disk with a splintered piece of bone lodging in a nerve. He fit us into his schedule and operated within a week of our first visit doing two cervical fusions with tremendous results. Six months ago, we sought his opinion on her Lumbar discs as she had nerve pain down her leg. Dr. McAfee recommended surgery and performed a two disc fusion again with great results.

Best spine surgeon anywhere! I had cervical fusion at 2 levels and feel great!

I ended up having cervical spine surgery in Feb. 2014 and a three level lumbar spine fusion in July 2014. Dr McAfee is amazing, his entire staff knowledgable, helpful, kind and caring. Heather, Kendra, Liana...all amazing. The Dr himself is incredible without a doubt!

Dr. McAfee did back surgery on my husband a few years ago and it was the worst experience we ever have had. He was always in a hurry, did not have time to answer our questions and was not available to handle follow up care. He did not ever check on him during his stay In the hospital, always send his associates, and when he needed to come back for a second surgery due to a staff infection choose not to even attend the surgery. Would definitely not recommend.
