Dr. Paul F Gleason

The first ultrasound was not thorough & he continuously repeated I needed to get my gestational diabetes test; although he concluded all was normal with our baby. The day before I was scheduled for the gestational diabetes test; I received an email with his negative remarks. In those remarks he labeled me obese & as if I already had gestational diabetes. At that moment I was heartbroken, shamed, & embarrassed in additional to all the turmoil, stress, & worry he had placed us through by saying if I didn't do the test there could be harm to the baby. On our next appointment my husband came with me & he kept pushing the test even before he did the ultrasound. He also went further by saying our baby maybe struggling to swallow and I had too much fluids. During labor because of his notes we were pricked both our baby and I several times all to conclude neither of us had diabetes. Our child was born gorgeous and completely healthy. Shameful fear mongering practice & a money making scam!

Dr. Gleason is honest, direct, and extremely knowledgeable. If you go in acting like a child you will be treated as one. You are an adult, I know this because you are having a baby. So act like one, do your research and be prepared and ask questions. Dr. Gleason was articulate, could answer every one of my questions with stats and made me feel well cared for. He could not guarantee he could perform a procedure quickly so he referred us out (so, those people saying he is a money-grabber, wrong). He very much cares about the rights of the unborn but is also very compassionate about maternal and paternal well-being. He spent over an hour speaking to us. You are lucky to be referred to him.

If you are diagnosed with GD immediately switch from Gleason. When I asked what would happen if I couldn't get my sugar levels in control with diet his response was that the baby could die!!! Yup straight up told me my child could DIE - as if we are all not afraid of all the bad things happening as you are carrying a child for the first time. The correct response would have been we will assess your condition after you try and control it with diet alone and if need be you may have to go on insulin. DO NOT MENTION DEATH TO A MOTHER WHO WAS JUST DIAGNOSED WITH A CONDITION. I moved doctors immediately after his comment and followed a very strict diet but still could not regulate my resting sugars which is basically from the time I fall asleep until I wake up. There was no way for me to control that unless I went on insulin. Baby was born healthy & I had a huge support system from the new docs.

A wonderful, thorough and caring high risk on specialist! Some have said they do not like his bedside manner because he is direct. I appreciate frankness. I am an older mom and he saved my twins. Thank God for his great care!

My wife and I are having our first child. Dr. Gleason is very educated but lacks bedside manners. Coming from results with some red flags and taking the proper follow-ups as recommended, he likes to compare apples with oranges as examples. Poor bedside manners. He explains the situation with a sense of undermining your intelligence. I doubt Dr. Gleason knew our background as RN's with MSN, he is unclear and lacks going to the point. Second opinions won't hurt..

I recently was referred to Dr Gleason, due to a preterm labor risk. I have been seeing Dr. Gleason almost weekly for nearly 2 months and couldn't be happier with him. He is always very polite and caring when I meet with him, and really goes out of his way to spend time explaining everything to me. He is always willing to answer any questions I have, and has been very honest and upfront about concerns that I might have. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Gleason to others!!
