Amazing Doctor

I am extremely disappointed. My 16 year old daughter's blood pressure and frequent weight gain are concerning. She has been eating less and exercising daily, and gained 11 pounds in 2 months. My child's blood work showed high testosterone levels. Her pediatrician referred us to Children's Hospital. We were informed that a medication would be prescribed. Dr. Gurtunca referred to my daughter as obese and told us that she needs a nutritionist and a behavioral therapist. Medication was not prescribed. I was told to bring my daughter back in 6 months. My daughter cried all the way home and is very sad. We expected to receive help and did not. Also, Dr. Gurtunca saw my daughter crying in the office and said nothing to comfort her. Dr. Gurtunca, you are the ice queen and the queen of mean. The way you treated my granddaughter is unacceptable and cruel. You need to know that she cried every day for a week after her appointment with you. My daughter brought my granddaughter to you seeking help. Instead, you body shamed her and made things much worse. You called my granddaughter obese and made her feel terrible. You did nothing to help my granddaughter and crushed her spirit. The advise that you had given us was incorrect. My granddaughter has seen another doctor and is doing much better without your lack of help. The advice you had originally given, would have made her gain more weight and continuously be unsatisfied. Run......don't walk away from Dr. Gurtunca. She is useless, mean, and cruel. I took my 16 year old daughter to her about 2 months ago. Dr. Gurtunca called her obese, treated her terrible, and did NOTHING TO HELP HER. It's been 2 months from our visit with Dr. Gurtunca. My daughter still talks to me about how poorly she was treated. My child is very kind. She told me that she hates Dr. Gurtunca. I have never heard my daughter say that she hates anyone. This miserable woman needs to retire. I hope that my daughter will recover from her experience with Dr. Gurtunca. RETIRE DR. GURTUNCA! YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO YOUR PROFESSION!

Verbally abusive, ZERO bedside manner, unprofessional and unnecessarily cruel. I have NO idea why this woman chose to work with people!

My son was in the 4th percentile for growth and she refused to even do a growth hormone stimulation test on him to make sure there wasn’t a problem and put my mind at ease. If your child has a growth problem, get a second opinion!
