Dr. Shakir is very kind and personable. It is clear he cares deeply for patient comfort and safety. He was extremely accommodating in performing my surgery within a tight time frame and made sure that I was comfortable with the details of the procedure before he began. Dr. Shakir also took the time to update my family personally during my time in the hospital, which I really appreciated. From the initial office consultation to the hospital procedure, I had a great experience with Dr. Shakir and his staff.

Very helpful staff, the doctor is very friendly, walked me thru the whole process, and made it as comfortable as possible. I would definitely go back.

I was seen promptly and the receptionist was very professional. Dr. Shakir was friendly and explained everything clearly.

Great doctor, my surgery went really well, the office called the next day to follow up and made sure I was doing ok, my follow up visit went well also, Dr Shakir is well skilled and very friendly, I would highly recommend him to anyone needing this type of surgery

Dr Shakir is an Excellent surgean, personable, takes time and listens, and answers all your questions.

I recieved excellent service from Dr. Shaki Murtaza and his entire staff. We ran into a challenge with my insurance and his office staff and his accounting/bookkeeping department went above and beyond to get the insurance approved. With their assistances they were able to get the approval completed and the surgery went on with no problem. I would highly recommend Dr Murtaza and his staff. They receive the highest ratings 5. Dr Shakir is giving us the best attention we may have. As a human being and also as a professional he is fantastic. He really care about the patient.

I had severe gallbladder problems, I can say it’s a dead a gallbladder, and my pcp sent me to the the emergency Memorial Herman hospital. Dr. Shakir meet me at the reception and facilitate the process to get the surgery in less than 30 minutes. He had everything prepared, anesthesiologist, the nurses, the room, and the explanation of the procedure. He was and artist in his field not only a surgeon. After the surgery, I felt much better and didn’t spare any to give to his patients. Bid sergeant with big heart. Dr. Shakir has been my doctor since 2019. I was referred to him after an ER visit, and I am glad to have been directed to Dr. Shakir. His bedside manner is awesome, which is very rare these days. I was very relaxed the day of my surgery because Dr Shakir answered every question I had and explained in detail my procedure and recovery. I returned to Dr. Shakir in 2020 and 2022 for additional procedures, and his wonderful bedside manner never changed. You may have to wait a few minutes before he sees you, but rest assured he gives each patient the personalized attention she deserves. I highly recommended Dr. Shakir for your surgical procedures. An Angel and a Magician Dr. Shakir is a Prince of a Man. He is an incredibly skilled surgeon. But what separates him from all the rest is his Huge heart and true care for his patients. Dr. Shakir turned the whole world upside down to schedule an emergency surgery for my father. He himself called the hospital scheduling during our initial (!) appointment to work my father into the hospital’s schedule the next day. His staff worked a miracle to get everything approved in time for the surgery. He was with my father for 7 hours straight, and I have been getting ongoing status updates from the OR staff about the progress. Dr. Shakir came out at 8 PM to let me know that all is well. He patiently answered every one of my questions. He is reassuring, caring, kind and simply amazing. He visited my father every single day for the next week to check on his healing progress. One of the nights a nurse had to call Dr. Shakir at 4 AM to get an approval for a medication, and he actually answered the phone at 4 AM! Dr. Shakir saved the life of my wife. She suffered a ruptured colon late on a Saturday night during the peak of the COVID-19. He operated on her late that same night. As I was not allowed into the hospital, I only received phone calls before and after the operation. He talked to me the next day and made it very clear to me that her recovery would be a day at a time concern and that she was very sick. I very much felt that she was in very capable and professional care. A few months later he was able to perform a reversal operation to make her whole again. Dr. Shakir was referred to me by my GP re possible need for hernia repair surgery. On my first visit I was impressed with his plain speaking, calm demeanor. He quickly confirmed that hernia surgery was something I should consider. He laid out options for/against surgery. Again he did this dispassionately, with no push for surgery. I was impressed and a bit surprised by that. I left his office thinking I would put off surgery, but after two weeks I elected to have the surgery. I expected to have to go back in and discuss the matter again, but I was wrong. When I called his office they said they would get back to me with a surgery date. They did, and scheduled me for surgery two weeks out. No fuss. The day of the surgery all went as well as expected. Went in at 6AM and home by noon. I felt really good considering. I had filled a prescription for pain meds, but ended up taking only 3 pills total, one a nite for the first three night. not because I was in pain, I wasn't, but I thought I'd be able to sleep better. Four days out from surgery I felt great. I saw Dr. Shakir one more time after the surgery. A ten minute visit where he confirmed that all looked well, and that I could get back to swimming the next day, some 11 days after surgery. Not bad. He performed a colectomy with minimal invasion and the stitches were neat, precise and efficient. Dr. Shakir was so compassionate. I was in a lot of pain with my gallbladder. He made a huge effort to get me scheduled for surgery asap. His staff was very easy to work with. They allowed me to text questions and responded very fast to all of my inquiries. My surgery was great and I am pain free!

Dr. Shakir preformed a surgery on my lower left hernia in March of 2021 using a robotic method and everything went well. I had my hernia for over a year and was scared to have surgery on it because back in August of 2011, I had a lower left hernia surgery in a different state with a different doctor that didn't go well. I had multiple complications that lasted for a while. Dr. Shakir recommended the robotic method and assured me that he would take great care of me. After thinking about it , I decided to have the surgery. The confidence that Dr. Shakir displays is amazing and he cares to make sure the job is done right. No burning when I go to the restroom and just had my 2 week follow up after surgery, very minor soreness (healing/cuts) and he cleared me to start slowly working out and running. I was not able to lift weights for almost 2 years after my first hernia surgery. I am extremely grateful that Dr. Shakir took his time and I can tell he really cared to get the job done right. Dr. Shakir took great care of me with no notice due to an unforeseen emergency. I felt fortunate under the circumstances he was available to help me out and I would absolutely go back to him should I need a surgeon in the future

Finally someone who listens. I was very scared about having surgery for my hernia but Dr. Shakir talked me through the whole procedure and helped me calm my anxiety. Definitely recommend him to others.

What a great surgeon. He did surgery on my mom. It was a difficult surgery. She had scar tissue twisting off her intestines. She had had previous surgery to fix the problem. So that only made more scar tissue after 10 years. He handled the situation very professionally. And her age and health history were addressed. She did have complications but they were taken care of as they came. We knew her recovery would be harder this time. Now she is finishing her recovery at home.
