I don’t think there is enough space provided for my husband & I, to leave a review on just how much we truly adore Dr Mitchell Price, Pediatric Surgeon on Staten Island. Let me start by saying, As a first time mom in the midst of a world-wide pandemic, Its safe to say, that we have a huge responsibility to keep our little one feeling safe, fed & Covid free. Then somewhere in between diaper changes & bottle feeds, my husband finds a inguinal hernia on our newborn preemie son. To say that I was feeling like the worlds best mom would be a lie. In fact, I felt the polar opposite. Until we arrived at our pediatricians office that same morning. Our amazing pediatrician had referred us to Dr Price located in Staten Island. After hearing the remarkable reviews from our entire pediatricians office staff, I was on the phone making a consult appointment while on the way home. Not only was the staff member who took my call so pleasant and friendly, she was a breath of fresh air after feeling guilty that i could of prevented this growing hernia on my baby boy. To most people reading this who have had experiences with their babies having a hernia so young, they could say that this is a lengthy text for such a small procedure & that this may be a lot of worrying for such a small hernia procedure. But to me, I was nervous about the surgery because my son was born at 33 weeks with his lungs not fully developed. Although his lungs are healthy & i laugh because he cries louder then anything, the thought of anesthesia and his delicate lungs scare me. Within a couple of days, we were at our consult appt with Dr Price. From the moment that door opened & Dr Price put his hand out to my husband and I & started off with the words “he will be okay, your baby boy will be okay”, Anyone walking by could see the room start to get heavy, from all the weight, anxiety and guilt lifted off my husband and my shoulders. After a very warm welcoming and non rushed consultation, Dr Price finished examining our son and then changed his diaper after a room full of laughs because my son wet his diaper. The morning of the surgery, I had cried on and off all week, and the tears wouldn’t stop that day. Knowing that my son was having surgery at 3 months old, and having flashbacks of us visiting him in the NICU for 2 weeks after he was born, I didn’t want to hand him over for the procedure. Dr Price and his amazing Anestesia Doctor came into the pre surgery room. They took an abundance of time to comfort me & reassure me again that “he will be okay”. And he was! The surgery was a success and I can happily say, that my son is back to his adorable jolly self. Dr Price was the light and joy that my family and I needed. For the moment that my son was in the care of Dr Price, there was no world wide pandemic for this mom and dad. There was hope. Thank you Dr Mitchell Price for being our families strength! From one family to the social media world, we would highly recommend Dr Price! Sincere, caring, knowledgeable, patience and a genuine love for the kids and the profession he chose. My daughter was born with extra digits on each of her fingers, he explained our options in great detail. Three weeks later we had walked in because I had some concerns and was seen by the staff and himself(mind you I did not have appointment). Thank goodness we did get to see him because my daughter needed care and he attended to her on the spot. I am grateful and would highly recommend this doctor to anyone. His standards should be taught to other doctors to have the same type of manner when it comes to dealing with patients. A stellar gentleman and Doctor all around. When my younger son was 3 months old, he needed an inguinal hernia repair. I was shocked and upset at the prospect of my little baby having surgery. Dr. Price was amazing. He was caring, gentle, informative. He changed my son's diaper for me during the presurgical evaluation. I started crying when he said my son would need surgery, and he stopped what he was doing to talk to me until I felt better. The surgery went very well. He is arrogant, lied to us about the other Doctors that would be present in the operating room, Rude and damaged my child's nerve permanently.. worst doctor we ever ever had the displeasure of using!
