Doctor is horrible.don’t go there

Dr. Balaescu is very nice and has a very kind demeanor. However, her office staff is insufferable. They are impolite, are not thorough with their duties to the point where I've had to call the insurance company and confirm eligibility to certain facilities, which is really what the staff should do beforehand. Everywhere else I've been to is on top of referrals, just not this place.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Not a safe space for queer or neuro divergent people. She literally laughed at me when I mentioned symptoms of my ADHD. She also kept touching me and sitting incredibly close to me even after asking her multiple times to stop. No one asked me for my pronouns. I even asked if they wanted them and they said no. Seriously stay away. Only positive is they didn’t have me wait a very long time however I suspect that’s not normally the case because the first thing she said to me was some unsolicited sob story about how busy she is all the time. She also compromised all of her patients information by telling me how many digits her EPIC password is and what the password is in reference to. If I could give 0 stars I would. Dr. Balaescu was my doctor for many years till I moved out of town. She is very nice and I recomend her.

Been going to Balescu as my PCP for 6 years. Compassionate and knowledgeable about women’s health, takes her time with patients, good bedside manner. Wait time is an issue at times but she is an excellent doctor.

Tried to become new patient. Front Desk was nasty. 3 week wait for appt. When I suggested they speak to the doctor re scheduling to avoid losing a new patient, Front Desk became belligerent.

Very caring and nice , happy to have her as my doctor

Very warm and caring group of professionals. First time going there. Dr. Michaela was so sweet and you can tell she cares about her patients.

First visit for my mother and Dr. Balaescu is such a lovely, kind & considerate person! Her staffs are also amazing! Front desk Monica is so sweet and helpful!

Dr. Balaescu is Kind, knowledgeable and will listen to your concerns. HOWEVER the front desk girls/women have absolutely no interest in assisting you. They answer the phones attitudes and are quick to rush you off. I love Dr. Balaescu and Monica but they really need to hire some new admins for their practice.

It's a bit chaotic in the office and always full, but the doctor is caring and explains everything to you. I went back because she was genuine and honest however, the organization and professionalism of the office can be improved.

She was also good in explaining my medical issues that I had not experienced with other MDs. When dealing with the stress of health issues it’s vital to have a medical practitioner who will treat your condition, and at the same time ease your concerns. Dr. Balaescu is just such a doctor. After locating her on my insurance companies’ website I was able to make an appointment quite easily, and was sitting in her office little more than a week later. The office is easy to find, and there is metered parking available, as well as a subway literally across the street, so it couldn’t be more convenient. The office itself is modern, though busy and somewhat cramped. That said I wasn’t in it for long as the staff got me quickly signed in, and started on the obligatory pile of paperwork. I had just enough time to complete it before I was called in to see a nurse. The nurse who did the pre-screening was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable, and in very short order I was ready for the doctor. Dr. Balaescu was warm, professional, and very thorough. I had several things I wanted to talk about, and she took the time to go over each of them with me, patiently answering all my questions. Although the office was busy, and her manner was brisk, at no time did I feel rushed, or that I lacked her total attention. I discovered that she’s been living and working in the area for many many years, and I can easily see why. She cares about Sunnyside, and the people who live there, and having thrived there for so long, it’s clear Sunnyside cares for her. I can’t speak to other people who had trouble making appointments, or had other issues with the staff, or Dr. Balaescu. All I can say is that I dealt with at least 4 people at the office and each was, without exception, friendly, and professional, and helped me get the treatments, referrals, and medications I needed, quickly, without stress, and with a minimum of fuss. Dr. Balaescu is the best primary care physician I have seen in many years. She is thorough, caring and moves to provide results by getting the right referrals and communicating with other doctors. Great at following up and covering all the bases.

Doctor Michaela charged us for something that was never done. When we called insurance and hospital to ask what was charged they told us and we couldn’t believe. Total scam, be aware and ready.

Dr. Balaescu is one of the best providers in New York. She deserves a major reward for all her good deeds. She goes above and beyond the call of duty, especially when you need a sick visit. Inspite of the hectic schedule, she finds time to give you the care and attention you need,. She gives an honest conversation and pays really close attention to your health. She reviews my medical history well before he appointment, and during a sick visit, she tries to make time even if it is outside office hours already. The people behind the desk who answer the phones are dismissive and rude. You can tell they hate their job and couldn't care less about the patients. Dr. Balaescu is a sweet lady however the way I was treated most recently was unacceptable.Very briefly, I needed a refill for meds (that they've been refilling up until last month) before traveling however after 4 days of following up with them they decided I needed to come in to get the refill. She is the most caring doctor ever. She listens to all your concerns and addresses them with such professionalism. The office staff especially Monica is so patient and always answers any questions you have regarding insurance and any other issues related to each patient.
