Dr. Petri seems to be authoritative in what she does in rheumatology. She treated me well the first time I went to see her with her assistant calling me multiple times to collect meticulously many medical history data before the visit. However, for a second visit more than 1 yr later, there was no such preparation and I thought it was supposed to be. When seeing me, she blamed me coldly for the lack of the recent data and only spent a few mins seeing me (I spent over ten hours coming to Baltimore). Her after visit communications tend to be like talking down to you. I couldn't get some definite answers for certain questions even after repeated trying. This year makes 20 years that I’ve been under Dr.Petri’s care. I thank God for her. I was diagnosed with Lupus @ 18 years old and she is the only rheumatologist that I’ve ever known! I’ve met plenty people with SLE and Discoid and they all speak of looking for a new Dr. I’d highly recommend her to anybody in need of a rheumatologist.

God placed her in my life.

I went here in June 2021 and was diagnosed with lupus. I was started on a medication and after weeks of taking the medication in 2 different dosages the doctor took me off of it because of all the horrible side effects I was having and still having even after a decrease in the dosage amount. Well because I couldn’t tolerate the medication the doctor basically is telling me that I’ll just have to do without any medication for my disease and that I’ll just have to deal with it, even though there are several other medications they can try to help control the disease so it doesn’t get worse! I swear most of these doctors don’t care about their patients and only care about the money! Why should I have to suffer because I have bad side effects to the anti malarial medication that is first given for lupus disease! Just because you can’t take something doesn’t mean the doctors are supposed to throw in the towel and give up on you! I’m a person too not just money for them to make! As good as she is as a Dr. is as bad as she is as a person. Over the years I have held my tongue out of respect for my wife, but enough is enough. She is rude, classless, and a despicable human being. Having the ability to save lives does not give her the right to treat people as if they are non-existent. Johns Hopkins may be the class when it comes to medicine, but they are piss poor when it comes to valuing those who they service. As good as she is as a Dr. is as bad as she is as a person. I have been treated for Lupus by several rheumatologist in 20 years. Though good doctors, Dr Petri is the one I trust. Though not in Maryland now, if I ever get extremely sick, I pray Dr Petri will be available to help me. Dr Petri was always straight forward and allowed time for all my concerns. She was a no frills or giggles doctor and she could come across more as scientist verses bedside. But all patients needing her at their hospital bedside saw a different tone. She was always very caring , both fir you and the family. Dr Petri always provided exceptional care and all forms, notes all in order for whatever needed. I was so depressed when first diagnosed but Dr Petri helped me believe my life would go on and gave me the confidence I needed to move forward. I was blessed and know many share my experience.

Dr. Petri is an amazing doctor. One of the smartest women I know. She has been my doctor for 26 years. I trust her with my life! I recently saw Dr. Petri for a second opinion, which actually led to a diagnosis change to lupus. She spent a long time with me, explained everything extremely thoroughly, and was very kind. I appreciate how her direct way of speaking left little room for confusion. I'm so grateful that someone like her continues to practice clinically while conduction research that leads to improvements for patients all over the world.

Dr. Petri gave me my life back as well. I have been seeing her for 17 years. She has helped me to have two children and to continue to work full time. She always answers any questions that i have immediately. Her dedication to working towards helping people live full lives with lupus is remarkable.

Dr Petri gave me a life. I have 3 beautiful children and have been a nurse for almost twenty years. Without her I wouldn't have either of those things. She safely brought me through my pregnancies and has been with me for twenty years. Some people find her gruff, but she will fight like hell to get her patients what they need. She has given so much to lupus and lupus research. It's a debt that can never be repaid.

Dr. Petri is very knowledgeable about rheumatologic diseases, and can calmly put a patient at ease as it concerns his/her health status and how to manage the condition(s). Overall, I can definitely tell she's been in this field for an extremely long time and she is extremely efficient at ensuring that you are seen as soon as your vital signs are checked! However, I did not give the full 5 stars because she can tend to produce a vibe that is not necessarily rude but can come across as stern.

I like her take charge of your health Attitude. I always look forward to visits with her because she listens and she is genuinely interested in your well being. It would be nice for better office hours but I have no complaints. Her responses to emails still amazes me. Always available.
