Hello - I was Dr. Carlson first surgery. I have CP and she switched my tendons so that I can have mobility. What surgeons fail to realize is the after effects of surgery, my tendons became over active and I ended up having spasticity and dystonia. Due to the spasticity and dystonia after surgery, I developed seizures. She was no where to be found to fix the issue - 30 years later I’m still trying find relief. Thanks Dr. Gerwin! I knew her before she was married.

Do not use her! She said my problem was a simple trigger finger surgery! It failed, then she said, I required a second a surgery. Foolishly, I allowed her to perform the second surgery! After months of a frozen hand, she finally agreed to me having hand therapy! I am in worse condition now than I was before the surgery. She is dismissive and not empathetic at all! When she doesn’t want to deal with you, she has her PA meet with you! Don’t waste your time with her. Anyone would be better!

I went to two orthopedic surgeons in CT that both dismissed my wrist/hand pain and told me rest, PT, and ibuprofen. Dr. Carlson took me seriously, ordered an MRI and even when that was inconclusive was able to work backwards to figure out the source of the pain and help alleviate it. Highly recommend her, excellent diagnostician.

Foolishly, I had her perform a second surgery on my finger. You guessed it…she still couldn’t fix it. After several months, unable to use my right hand, I asked for physical therapy that she said would not help. I am now worse than before the surgery. She is very dismissive & condescending unless you are a premier athlete. She takes weeks to return a phone call. As of this writing she has not returned my calls to review a November 5, MRI that she asked me to take!

She is very dismissive, condescending, and takes weeks to return a phone call. As of this date, she still has not reviewed the MRI that she asked me to take on November 5. Please don’t get involved with her. She’ll ignore you if you’re not a premed athlete!

Dr. Carlson save my left hand. I had a terrible infection that took over a year to heal. She performed numerous surgeries and helped me regain the use of my hand. Amazing doctor

Misdiagnosed my problem, performed surgery (which another specialist later referred to as "extreme" - she told me she needed to shave bone, but apparently she cut off a significant part of bone) and problem was not resolved. Had to see another specialist and have another surgery before actual problem was fixed. Terrible bedside manner (made me feel like she was interrupting her manicure to perform surgery.) Very professional, organized, well staffed, informative, focused, understanding and compassionate. I had a very fast turn around with time in this process! In a matter of six weeks she did everything in order medically to find the issue. All the right steps, I had an xray, cortisone shot, MRI and then surgery! My finger was in terrible and unmanageable shape due to a very bad result from a prior surgery from another doctor 8 months ago. In addition, Dr. Carlson also already has an aftercare plan for me that I am in the process of. I am excited that I am on my way to recovery and my mood has been lifted! There is a light at the end of the tunnel! I am really glad I found this doctor! I highly recommend her! Dr. Carlson is amazing. She is detailed and will tell you like it is and won’t waste your time. She is probably the best in her field. She did an amazing surgery on my finger after I was told I may not be able to save it. I cannot say enough good things about her.

Unless you’re a top notch athlete playing for the nba or nfl, get ready to be treated like second rate garbage. I was notified by letter that after months and months of waiting to have my surgery scheduled that this hack would no longer be treating me as a patient. Her bed side mannerism is lacking, her staff is all over the place and has no clue what they are doing. They mess up scheduling and fees every visit. It’s a mess. I’ve nevwr felt more disrespected. That’s American healthcare for ya.

Her diagnosis was very accurate and her surgery was completely successful without complications. I now have full use of my right hand and am totally pain free unlike before I consulted with her. She does an impressively thorough hand examination and does not just rely on imaging as some clinicians do.
