My visit with Dr. Vecchione was a tele consult at the emergency room. Please pray he won't be your neurologist! His knowledge of neurology has a lot to be desired. I went to the ER with symptoms of dizziness (spinning), right sided tingling/electrical currents running through, and squeezing on my right calf. I had a similar episode happen three months ago and was in a different ER. I was diagnosed with a TIA. Later, a Mayo doctor seemed to think it was a Hemiplegic Migraine (HM) instead. According to Dr. Vecchione, it was unlikely that it was HM since it starts as a child (wrong, it can start as an adult as well) and I would need to have another family member to have HM as well (wrong - there are two types of HM, one w/o family). Then he went to suggest that this might be an inner ear problem - really, with one sided paresthesias? The attending physician at the hospital floor dismissed that one as well. What is the purpose of video consult when the doc doesn't know his stuff?
