Beware! If you live out of town, beware. The receptionist changed my husband's appointment time without confirming he could make it and we have a four hour drive. He had to reschedule for later in the day instead of being able to keep his original appointment time. Now he will be getting home late and getting very little sleep before going to work tomorrow. Very unprofessional! Edit: After leaving a review someone reached out and made things right. Thank you!

My appointment was cancelled. We talked on the phone later. Many of my appointments and surgery dates have been moved in the past. I joke with my family that I expect to have my appointments changed.

Very welcoming and attentive. Gave us all the time we needed to understand our options for treatment. Answered all our questions. Left, feeling we would be well taken care of dealing with our issue.

I was sent to Dr. Song with a nerve that was pinched by my disc at the L4-L5 level. I was in the worst pain of my life. Dr. Song and his team took the appropriate steps leading up to the decision to finally have surgery, as the injections were not helping my pain. Dr. Song and his team provided the best care I have ever received medically. Everyone is so friendly and genuinely cared about getting me pain free. I have already recommended him to several of my friends and family. I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone. Thank you Dr. Song for getting me back to being pain free and living my life happily. World class care, 5 stars is not enough.

Horrible front office. Dr Song did surgery on my back in July, after I had been seeing him since the previous November. Surgery did not help and the pain was even worse than before surgery. Dr Song promised that he would help me and did NOT. After thousands of dollars for surgery, the last resort was to implant a stimulator. This was supposed to happen prior to Dec, but when calling to find out why the office wouldn't schedule, I was told that I had surgery and wasting the doctors time. Not the first time the office told me that. Seems all is good if it's an easy fix, but they don't follow through if it's complicated. Even heard the front office girl talking to a patient on how COVID was not real and masks are a waste of time...Really?!?! An office that doesn't believe in science. Epic failure and have to find another doctor, since my severe back pain is a "waste of the doctors time". I reported this to my insurance

That Dr Song is a pretty good doctor. A real straight shooter.

My back pain so severe I could not stand up straight and had difficulty walking. I was eating pain pills like candy. After sugery in November 2019 pain was completely gone. After this latest storm I shoveled over 5 tons of snow from our long driveway. I am 76 and feel like 40. If not for Dr song I would be bound to a wheelchair. Thank you Dr Song.

I had surgery on my C4,C5 from a doctor in may of 2020 the surgery was not a good one I had pain for several months after the surgery and it never infused, plus this doctor who did the surgery did not complete the surgery I still had pain from my nick to my fingers on my left side. shortly after that I meet Michael H Song,MD, I was scared to have another surgery but Dr. Song made me feel comfortable to do the surgery again, he had to go back in and fix what the previous doctor did plus complete the surgery from my C4 to my T1 all infused, 5hrs after I had surgery I was walking around the hospital floor talking to the staff, 7hrs after surgery the hospital nurse asked me if I wanted to be released because I was walking around like I never had surgery done to my neck, 26 hours after my surgery I was released from the hospital feeling good, 5 days after my surgery I was done with the pain pills and my neck just kept getting better, a little over a month went back to see Dr.Song for my check up and the xray showed that my neck was infusing, and today I feel great thank you Dr. Song for the great job you did on my infusing, PS and his staff made me feel like I was part of there family THANK YOU ALL I had surgery on my C4,C5 from a doctor in may of 2020 the surgery was not a good one I had pain for several months after the surgery and it never infused, plus this doctor who did the surgery did not complete the surgery I still had pain … More

My surgery was feb 2021. I think dr song did a most excellent job with my back. His staff is great. I was comfortable with all of them. My back is much better now.

I have been a patient of Dr. Songs for 15 years and truly appreciate his knowledge, professionalism and they way he treats you like a human, not just another patient. He listens to you and your pain issues. You are in very good hands with Dr. Song and his very capable staff. I have recommended him to many friends.

Dr. Song did a great job. Have no pain and didn't need pain killers or muscle relaxers. I'm able to walk and catch a frisbee smoothly again and sit comfortably as well. It's still early in the recovery process. I'll keep it updated.

Doctor Song gave me my life back. I had been suffering from sciatica for several years and nothing the chiropractor or pain management doctors did helped much. I was unable to stand in lines for more than a few minutes without excruciating pain I went to see Doctor Song to discuss having the microscopic surgery and he said based on the multiple issues involved I should have the more advanced that included brackets and a synthetic disk. It has been over 6 years now and I enjoy life pain free and can walk and do just about everything I want without pain. I highly recommend Doctor Song and his staff and would certainly go to them again if I ever needed treatment again. Doctor Song gave me my life back. I can’t say enough about Dr. Song and his team at Advanced Neurosurgery. I have suffered from a degenerative lower back for years and have had two prior lumbar surgeries. Dr. Song quickly and accurately diagnosed my MRI and recommended a level 3 fusion procedure. I agreed to a lengthy and complex surgery. During all of this time the staff at Advanced Neurosurgery was outstanding. They made the whole experience comfortable and always displayed confidence in their work. The surgery was very successful and I’m back to leading a normal life. Dr. Song comes highly recommended from other friends of ours who have had spinal surgeries. The staff was very good and informative. Dr Song and his associates *and* selected referrals were also top notch. Very caring, attentative to my symptoms, and definitely NOT the assembly line ignorance. The info these guys provided and confirmed was extremely useful towards understanding my health situation too. Dr Song is a gift from God. It was my decision to have cervical and lower lumbar surgeries. Dr Song came highly recommended and he his so knowledgeable and caring. It was during the COVID pandemic and I felt completely safe. I had so much confidence in Dr. Song and his team that I was very calm having my surgeries (this was my first major surgery too but I just knew all was going to go well and I would be better than ever). I love Dr. Song again he is truly a gift from God ??????

Dr. Song is the most competent neurosurgeon in the State of Nevada. He took over a failed cervical surgery and made me whole again. I hope he never retires in my life time. My trust level with others is minimal.

I was in extreme pain. My primary doctor sent me to Dr. Song. Dr. Song got me into surgery right away. He saved me from a lot of pain. The pain before the surgery was unbearable. My recovery is going better than I hoped for, due to Dr. Song and his staff. I highly recommend him.

I had back surgery by Doctor Song and I feel great now!!!! All my pain is gone he fused L4 and L5 in 1 and a half hours! Which was great for me as I only have one kidney and my primary care doctor was very concerned about me having surgery no damage to my kidney and I feel wonderful!!! Dr. Song performed a multi-level discectomy with fusion on my neck. Prior to the surgery, I tried physical therapy, epidural shots, and courses of steroids. Nothing helped. Now, 8-weeks post surgery, I am feeling so much better. Physical therapy starts next week and I anticipate seeing improvements over the next several months as I continue to heal. I cannot express my appreciation for the staff at Advanced Neurosurgery. Everyone has been professional and helpful. They answered questions professionally and promptly. What an outstanding team! I went to see Dr. Song with a debilitating herniated L4/5 disc. My pain was a constant 8-10. I was treated so kindly by his staff and Dr. Song - what a lovely, smart and compassionate man. He listened to my concerns & told me surgery was probably needed. Due to circumstances in my personal life I couldn't consider having immediate surgery. Rather than judge me, he was very open to trying a non-surgical approach first, suggesting spinal decompression. He took out his phone, called Dr. Hansen of Pro Spinal, asked him to get me right in and take very good care of me. I was so happy to have a neurosurgeon who was conservative and open to trying an alternative therapy and avoiding surgery if we could. I was assigned Dr. Song after being admitted for an injury resulting in complete immobility of my left arm. Turns out 2 cervical disks were pressing on my spine just enough to cause the immobility, and he and his team completely replaced them. Within a few days of the surgery I regained full mobility, and within a couple months, full strength. The most important take away from my experience in the hospital was that Dr. Song listened to me when I spoke about my concerns, and he took the time to check on me after long days of surgery. The follow up care is incredible; the team at Advanced Neurosurgery is genuine, attentive, considerate, and accommodating.There are truly no words that can express the amount of gratitude I have for Dr. Song and his wonderful team. Before surgery I was in considerable pain, lower back, both legs, and numbness in both feet. Post no pain with exception of very small bit of numbness a top of right foot. Results are great, I feel very satisfied.

Dr Song was great. I was in the hospital for 2 days and he was very helpful in the first day. The second day he was unavailable and his PA was unable to answer many of my questions. When I went for my 2 week followup an x-ray was taken, and I say his PA, who again (and partially because we had an x-ray not a ct) was unable to answer many of my questions. She agreed that we needed a credit ASAP, which only took 2 weeks. Yesterday, at the 2 week mark, the ct was cancelled by the imaging center, and Dr Sobgs team has been unable to get me to another imaging center I have a burst fractured spine and have opted to try a non-surgical fix. Dr songs team has been unable to monitor me or tell me anything useful or valid for the first month of my recovery, so I’m transferring to a more helpful provider. I have no doubt that Dr Song is very capable, and his team is very nice, they just haven’t been able to provide any care for me since I met Dr Song in the ICU.

Dr Song seems very nice and confident. I saw him briefly twice and he did an ACDF three weeks ago. My complaint is with access to him and the PAs and with poor post op preparation and education. I need to be able to understand how I should move/restrict movement and for how long post op in the brace. Right after surgery a hospital affiliated occupational therapist ran in, told me I can't drive for several months and zipped my neck brace on & off. I had to beg her to come back when my husband would be there. That was 100% of Dr Song's post op education. Then there is the problem with the angry, controlling girls at the desk in the doctor's office. #1 they are not always competent-- my first app was in Carson City and I had been told Reno. And they create a weird wall where you can't talk to the medical staff, the receptionist gives answers to questions only medical staff should answer. They would not give me a follow up appt with the PA who assisted in surgery. Not a good fit.

Dr song is an outstanding surgeon! I will be forever grateful for my improved mobility and function of my lower extremities. I came into his office in a wheel chair and after just 6 weeks I was able to leave on my own 2 feet!

Dr. Song got rid of mine and my husband's back pain. He and his staff are the best. Do not suffer, call Dr. Song, he will take very good care of you!!! We both are very happy with him.

Dr. Song and his entire staff are absolutely fantastic! I had disc replacement and fusion almost a year ago. From my first visit, through surgery and recovery, and follow ups- Dr. Song and his associates have always taken the level of care above and beyond! The scheduling is easy and everyone is so friendly and truly care about me and my well being!

I had 2 surgeries back to back- first was a spinal fusion at C4-C6. While my initial visit was for back pain, Dr. Song's PA noticed there could be a problem with my neck. After an MRI, it was determined my cervical spine was severely compressed! The next surgery was at L-3, and I am already feeling so much better! Thank you Dr. Song and staff!

I am truly blessed today, no more migraines. I can now feel my hands and neck, and my pain is gone. I am just sore from surgery. Dr. Song, you are just amazing as well as a Mike, your PA. Thank you for getting me back together. I cannot wait to pick up my sewing and crafts or to play with my grandchildren. I am feeling better each day and I am 6 weeks out of surgery. I am so grateful. After 5 months since my surgery, I feel like a new person. I never thought this could be possible. Dr. Song and his staff have been wonderful. Life is great!!!

I had horrible low back pain and si joint pain. When he came into the room after looking at my MRI, he said I had way too many problems, and we could be there all day. He turned around and said I needed to go see a psychologist. I ended up going to UC health in Denver Colorado to a orthopedic surgeon there. Turns out my lower lumbar fusion was loose and unstable and I had a screw sticking into one of the nerves. Had surgery from this doctor and now the pain is gone! He did not even bother to really look at my images and see my problems. He just relied on the radiologist report, which said nothing about my true condition I had horrible low back pain and si joint pain. I've been suffering from nerve pain after May 1st neck surgery fusion in 2012 for eight years. After my February of 2020 fussion and removal of the hardware from the 2012 surgery the nerve pain I've been suffering from is pretty much all gone. Thank you Doctor Song and staff

Dr. Song and Dr. Rajamand did a fantastic job! Everyone at Advanced Neurosurgery has been amazing. I feel great after my procedure and I’m very happy to still be around. It was terrifying at first, as I’m sure most surgeries like that usually are, but after waking up I was very pleased. St. Mary’s took great care of me while I was in the ICU, and all of the nurses made me feel very loved and comfortable during my stay. The day after my first surgery I felt amazing, and for the first time in 8 months I had movement in my left hand. I can touch my finger to my thumb.

Amazing! I am a nurse, and I changed neurosurgeons because of the doctors, the staff, and trust I felt. Dr. Song was a second opinion to a neck injury, I ended up having him do the surgery. I will never go back to my prior neurosurgeon. Dr. Song is honest, caring, up front, and knows his stuff. His staff is so kind, friendly, and makes you feel like family. They know me as I walk into the office, 'Hi Kelly, we got you checked in.' So comfortable to know people remember you.

Before my surgery the pain in my neck was so bad. I had really bad headaches that would not go away. Since my surgery the headaches are so much better, only 1 or 2 a week now. I was having them everyday from the time I would wake up until I went to bed. The pain is pretty well gone, still a little sore on the left side, but getting better.

Actually, I am rating Dr. Songs office staff as I was never able to see Dr.Song! After being referred to a neuro surgeon, Dr.Song, himself, came with high recommendations. However, getting an appointment was the worst experience ever. No call backs. No accountability. Everything that was done had to be initiated by me and explaining what the referral said etc. Then, not only did the referral say Dr Song specifically, I requested him specifically on 2 occasions and I was scheduled with another Dr. So,not only was that a several month ordeal, the follow up was just as bad. After several weeks, I called and found out that the direction of the doctor that I did see was never done by the referral desk. It is with a heavy heart that I write this because I usually only do kudos in writing as they are few and far between. My experience with this facility has been one negative experience after another!

Dr. Michael Song may be technically qualified, but his arrogance and indifference to his patients is totally inexcusable! His staff is equally indifferent, since their actions clearly reflect his own. I saw him for the first time on Feb 4th; he said I needed surgery immediately. But the scheduler didn't schedule my surgery until the following July! When I asked why, she told me that with Dr. Song, it was "first come, first served." When I told her he said I needed immediate surgery, she just repeated the same comment. EVERY doctor saves time for urgent care patients, so I knew she was lying. Also, I was supposed to have pre-op testing done at Renown 2 weeks prior to my surgery, but they didn't have me on their schedule. When I called Song's office about it, they said I wasn't on Renown's schedule, because Song's office had CANCELED the surgery that I had waited 5 months to get! Though rescheduled, after the surgery Song's attitude was argumentative and snarky! Never again!!!
