Just had my gamma knife surgery today with Dr. Sisti and Dr. Wang for my acoustic neuroma. The whole process went incredibly smooth and actually enjoyable! The staff were all kind and absolutely fantastic. Time will tell for the tumor, but I am very confident that everything will be OK from here on out being under Dr. Sisti’s care. Not only is he a kind, compassionate, and fun doctor… But he is a specialist on these tumors, and I trust him implicitly. Go see him!! That’s me on gamma machine!).

Just had my gamma knife surgery today with Dr. Sisti and Dr. Wang for my acoustic neuroma. The whole process went incredibly smooth and actually enjoyable! Six years ago, I was in your shoes: wanting to know if Dr. Sisti was as good as everyone said he is. I’m living proof that he is. I saw Dr. Sisti after being diagnosed with a 3” brain tumor. For some reference, your whole brain is about 6”, so to say this was a large (albeit benign) brain tumor would be an understatement. Without intervention, I was told that I only had “a couple” months left. Instead, I walked down the aisle at my best friend’s wedding seven weeks after surgery. Six months after surgery, I was accepted to and attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, one of the best writing programs in the country. A year after surgery, I accepted a job at Penguin Random House, one of the best publishing houses in the world. Two years after surgery, I ran the New York City Marathon—all 26.2 miles of it. Three years later, I got into the University of Chicago. Four years later, I graduated with a 4.0. Five years later, I worked as a social worker at UChicago Medicine, and six years later (today), I’m a psychotherapist working with medical professionals, brain tumor survivors, and current patients as they traverse the in-between and get to the other side. I owe my life—and my purpose—to Dr. Michael B. Sisti. My neurologist’s recommendation back in 2017 was the greatest blessing of my life. I was diagnosed with a benign meningioma a number of years ago. I went to Dr. Sisti for treatment and it was the best decision I ever made.Dr. Sisti discussed 2 options for treating the meningioma.. surgical removal or gamma knife. He went over both options in detail and was very patient with me and my husband answering any and all of questions.I met with his team to go over the gamma knife procedure itself and felt like I was in the best hands possible.The procedure went well and today was my second follow-up with the great news that the meningioma had indeed shrunk and no brain swelling..Dr. Sisti presented the news in such a way as to make you feel just as excited as he was with the outcome!It is rare that you find a doctor with the knowledge, compassion and obvious love for his profession as Dr. Sisti!I would without hesitation recommend Dr. Sisti! I first met Dr. Sisti after reading an article he prepared prior to COVID 19. Upon finishing the article I knew Dr. Sisti was the doctor for me. I had a meningioma that was probably growing for the past 10 years. He explained exactly what he would do. I felt less stressed and less fearful after meeting with Dr. Sisti. His team is also very friendly and helpful. Dr. Sisti has a wonderful sense of humor. I had the procedure done with 2 nights in the hospital. Discharged on day 3. Would highly recommend Dr. Sisti.

He referred me to one of his colleagues who advised me to have a craniotomy. I did some research and interviewed another neurosurgeon in Manhattan for a second opinion who also suggested a craniotomy. Honestly, at 68 years old, the thought of having that procedure as well as the complications that could arise was very frightening. I continued my research for the top neurosurgeons in NYC and found that Dr. Sisti was rated the best. I watched his YouTube videos, read his reviews, and was immediately impressed with him. As this was during the Covid period, I forwarded my test results and scheduled an online consultation. I had a list of questions prepared related to the craniotomy procedure and when the initial online consultation began, I never got the chance to ask those questions. After reviewing my records, Dr. Sisti’s comments was “I’m not going to perform surgery on you”. I will never forget his words to this day. Dr. Sisti is an amazing, knowledgeable surgeon. He removed my 3.5 cm acoustic neuroma in 2014. I was very scared but he put my mind at ease by explaining exactly what was going to happen and reassured me that everything will be ok. He was also able to save my hearing which another surgeon was sure that I would lose my hearing after the surgery. I just had a follow-up appointment this past week and Dr Sisti gave me some great advice on strategies to help with my balance. I highly recommend him!

Back in 2009,I went to my ENT and was not feeling right,he sent me for MRI ,and I found out I had a Meningioma,and I started researching Dr's,and I found Dr. Sisti, I got an appointment with him. From the moment I walked into his office,I knew I was in good hands. My tumor was benign,and he advised to check it once a year. In 2016,I had my yearly MRI, then one had grown on the Optic Nerve ,and was not operable He advised he was going to try Gmanife,and the process started. I went to see Dr Tony Wang,first,and then I was scheduled for the surgery. It was a little scary,but I knew I was in good hands. Dr Sisti made me feel so safe,and I knew I was going to be ok. The procedure went well. I was back to work in a few days. I have yearly MRI's,and last year,after the 5 year mark,I am cured. Because of him,I am cured. I give him 100 stars. If you need a Dr,in his expertise,he is the one. The Best Ever! The hospital is aces as well. I was treated with such grace and respect.

My wife required frontal lobe tumor removal. Duke Medical trained doctors in Jacksonville, FL advised there was nothing they could do except refer her out for "clinical trials". Thank goodness we found Dr. Sisti. After reviewing all her scans, he scheduled surgery for my wife immediately and his confidence was infectious. His medical assistant, Connie is compassionate and always available. A very difficult surgery was very successful and the expertise and care received at Columbia Presbyterian Neurosurgical was top notch. I cannot recommend Dr. Sisti and his staff highly enough! Dr. Michael B Sisti is simply AMAZING. He recently performed a suboccipital craniectomy on my father to remove a very large and rare cystic acoustic neuroma. From the moment we met Dr. Sisti, he was incredibly knowledgeable, confident, down to earth, comforting and extremely personable. Days prior to the procedure he sat with us and explained in laymen's terms exactly what was wrong and what he would be doing during the procedure. He discussed how he and his team would be using state of the art technology to determine which parts of the tumor were to be removed to provide the most optimal quality of life, without damage. Dr. Michael B. Sisti is a trustworthy, caring and amazing professional neurosurgeon. He cured me of a benign brain tumor that would have blinded me if I didn't have it removed. It was the size of a walnut! After interviewing 8 neurosurgeons in NYC and researching through the medical community, I struck GOLD by meeting Dr. Sisti and having him remove the meningioma that was producing mild and worrisome symptoms and aggressive growth. Dr. Sisti is the most remarkably amazing Dr. I've ever met! Although I'd rather not go through a brain tumor again…;) Dr. Sisti was the best part of it!! From the start, Dr. Sisti was there for me and my family and gave us a pleasant experience. Unlike other Drs., which sometimes I feel like I'm burdening them by asking questions - from the beginning, I felt comfortable in his presence and in asking him questions or explanations. Dr. Sisti is a brilliant surgeon and one of the kindest human beings you'll ever meet. He performed a brain surgery on my frontal lobe and extracted almost all of my tumor (99% of it :)) . From the 1st day at Columbia Hospital Him and his entire team made myself and all my family members feel super comfortable. His bedside manner is like no other. He takes the time to get to know you, listen to you and answer any questions that you may have. He is confident and experienced, which put me, a nervous wreck, at ease. Now, exactly 3 months after the surgery I can report that I'm physically almost back to myself. I was recently diagnosed with a meningioma and was told that surgery to remove it would be the appropriate next step. A Cat Scan of my head in an ER after a car accident found this tumor as an incidental finding that I had no idea I had. I scheduled Zoom visits with prominent Neurosurgeons and had 1 in-office visit. Of all the Neurosurgeons I spoke with Dr. Sisti made me feel the most comfortable, most calming, and the most knowledgeable regarding this scary diagnosis. Dr. Sisti is an absolute pleasure to have as a surgeon. First of all, he is incredibly nice, which as patient is very reassuring. Second, he is a consummate professional. I do not generally use hyperbole or give undue praise. Simply put, however, Dr. Sisti is an extraordinary doctor. He is the epitome of everything one would expect in an exemplary medical professional-- remarkably brilliant, experienced, confident, and personable. In April, I was diagnosed with a 4 cm acoustic neuroma. From my initial consultation, I immediately knew that Dr. Sisti would be my choice, even after having already met with a number of other highly qualified neurosurgeons. Dr. Sisti analyzed my MRI images with incredible expertise and offered insight far beyond that which I had previously received. In June, I successfully underwent surgery to remove the tumor. In short, Dr. Sisti and his team did a remarkable job and were able to save my facial nerve and even preserve hearing in my affected ear! Like all the reviews here, I agree that Dr. Sisti is a top notch professional in his field and incredibly personable when seeing his patients. Unlike most of the comments though, I say that because he has not performed surgery on me. Dr. Sisti also happens to be good at letting you know when you don't require an operation but rather periodic observation, in my case for a meningioma. If that should ever change I will feel relief knowing I have Dr. Sisti on my side.

Dr. Sisti saved my mother's life by transferring her to Columbia after an emergency seizure situation. He removed a meningioma from her right frontal lobe. That all changed when I met Dr. Sisti. He quickly and accurately diagnosed my tumor as a vagal schwannoma and explained the risks associated with removing it as well as leaving it. Dr. Sisti successfully removed my brain tumor in January 2011 with no complications, completely preserving all functionality controlled by the underlying nerve, and ultimately saving my life. I always enjoy my visits with Dr. Sisti for follow up MRIs. He is warm, comforting, and has a great sense of humor. In 2019 Dr. Sisti assisted with Gamma Knife to treat new tumor growth. This radiosurgery was anticipated as a potential follow up to my initial treatment and the results were fantastic! I highly recommend Dr. Sisti.
