Dr. Michael Edward Markowski

Seemed like a decent physician, but was very dissuading about the possibilities re: treatment for SMA3, adding that it was not available to adult patients. It turned out that he was incorrect about this. As I left, he said that he would closely follow the reports about treatment and access and would be in contact with me. This was more than 3 years ago. Despite the first treatment having been available then, and several other new ones having been reported on extensively, I have not heard from him at all during these 3+ years.

My elderly father has been seeing him for his neuropathy...no benefits to any treatment (or lack of treatment). Now he is having "seizures" that Dr. Markowski can't seem to figure out (a medical anomaly?) Lists them as "anxiety tremors" yet provides no treatment. Won't return calls and after having 14 "seizures" in less than a month, refuses to see him as he "already saw him this month" and they are only taking "priority cases".

D. Markowski came recommended for not only his specialty but for his demeanor. Although I found his knowledge adequate or above, his demeanor leaved something to be desired. I felt his quick diagnosis was not initially based on complete information and was a bit premature, maybe over confidence? Fortunately he seems to be making up for it in his recommendations for testing and follow-up. I reserve judgement until that time.
