Surprised this Dr. is still practicing. That being said, if a dr. is not helping a patient, refer to another practice don't throw away a patient. Wait isn't there a clause stating do no harm. This Dr. said I had no business there, said there was nothing wrong with me. I would imagine that some cases can be difficult to determine, but to not even try. I was not there to waste anybodies time or money , much less my own. Honestly some of the replies from the practice are nothing but empty. Dr Depalma didn’t remember me - very curt- staff extremely rude- would not recommend

Staff warm and welcoming. Clinical staff the same and very alert to your needs. Drs are communicative and clear. If your are shopping for narcotics, this is not your place

Staff and physicians efficient and friendly

I was hopeful when I started at the his office. After 3 months of nothing but injections and then the proposal of having wires run up my spinal cord from the L5/S1 junction to the mid thorax and a subcutaneous battery pack installed in my tail, I said that is it! Not even PT was offered. Just more injections at $280 a whack. He is a 1 trick pony. Injections injections injections.

I highly recommend Dr DePalma to anyone that is suffering from pain in their back and hip. The staff gave me appointments quickly for diagnosis and treatments even at my age of 95. I received follow up appointments to monitor my progress. I could not be more pleased with the care I received...it far exceeded my expectations for someone my age. Thank you!

I was told don't waste your money going anywhere else, or any alternative methods. We order MRI's but we don't use them, and when we do we can't understand them. We have no clue what is wrong but since the first treatment worked we ran with it. I actually like DePalma it is his fellows that need work.

I just had my second set of shots today. While I am not sure if these shots are going to solve my back problems, I feel confident in the staff there, especially Dr. DePalmer. He is very determined to get the shot in the right place, mixes his medicine according to my specific needs, and is very attentive to my experiencing discomfort during the procedure. He asks me if I am feeling pain every few minutes! I asked him several questions today, and he took a lot of time answering and explaining. I am pleased with the I- Spine Clinic. I know they are trying to help me. They are professionals. I just had my second set of shots today. Dr DePalma is focused on me when I’m there. He totally communicates what he is doing, what’s coming next and he is always asking how I’m doing, etc. I am totally comfortable with his approach to my care.

Absolutely amazing that I dealt with chronic and excruciating pain for 9 long months before finding Dr. DePalma. After one treatment, I was pain-free. It is a miracle and I am very grateful. Wonderful, caring and competent office staff to boot. Only wish I had come sooner!!

I am in shock. I am a self pay, no insurance. Ok so I pay up front 550.00. No problem. A month later I get a bill for another285.00. What the heck! He did nothing but talk to me for 10 min. And NO ONE EVER SAID A WORD ABOUT MORE MONEY! I can't abide a liar! I am disgusted and would never go back!

I have been in pain for 4 months. My first visit I was seen for a very short exam. I was taking physical therapy so they told me to come back in 3 weeks. At that time I saw another doctor and was told about the process for shots. I had an appointment set up for three weeks later. All this time I am in severe pain. They do not do pain meds and an office staff person told me if I wanted pain meds to get another doctor. Thank heavens Dr. Placides office helped out there. Three weeks later, first shot no change. Next scheduled time 3 weeks later to "try again". I managed to get my appointment a week earlier by calling my insurance to expedite my claim. It was in the afternoon and I had to bring my 8 year old great nephew and they refused to see me. They don't care about me or my constant pain. They would not let me take him to his aunt's and come back because my appointment was in "8 minutes". When I complained about their unwillingness to help me, they asked me to leave. I did not feel that the staff was helpful or supportive. Making appointments was always at least a week away. When you are in pain and no relief is offered, a week feels like a lifetime. He provides no prescription pain medication and if the process does not locate the site of the cause of pain, you may have to wait two weeks for another attempt. They tried to blame the wait on my insurance but even when I checked with the insurance and all was settled, there was a two week wait.

My first shot given to me was at the surgery center and it was not even a steroid shot. It was a shot of lidocaine that was explained afterwards as an exploratory shot to ensure the area was correct. $820 later, I was told that it was the patient's responsibility to know their insurance and how much it will cost. Money hungry shot doctor. If the shots work, great, but if not, you will be asked to continue to have up to 4 shots with followup visits in between with the fellow.

I would without a doubt , recommend Dr. DePalma to anyone that needed back or spine pain. I have been going to this doctor for years. He has greatly helped me. I also took my mom to him and he did a great job on her. I dont take my mom to just any doctor. He is a very special doctor.

If his only problem was he has no personality I would give him 5 stars. I was a number to Dr. DePalma and only a number.. When you are in severe pain you need someone who is there for you. This doctor is NOT. He gives you shots etc but if they don't work that's it for you. I saw him once I his office and then at the hospital. When I called in extreme pain his fellow took over. The fellow was leaving and he was interested in leaving.. I think DePalma is into research and that's about it.

I came to Dr. DePalma having to use a cane to walk due to my lower back and severe leg pain. He correctly diagnosed what the problem was and recommended what had to be done. I am now about 90% recovered, not needing a cane to walk and I look forward to getting to the remaining 10%. Dr. DePalma and his supporting fellows are excellent physicians. Doctor DePalma is very direct and tells it like it is. His staff is excellent, very professional and caring. I definitely recommend I-Spine!

Epidural injections from Dr. DePalma render me virtually pain-free for three months at a time. During that time I can perform normally and hold down a part-time job at 75 years old. Many thanks Doctor, I couldn't do it without you.

I was very pleased with the attitude of the staff and greatly appreciated their willingness to accommodate my specific needs. My first two visits found me unable to sit or stand and they took steps necessary for me to lie down until the doctor could see me. I felt rushed when speaking with both Dr. DePalma and Dr. Essaff. I know they are busy, but wish they had taken time to answer my specific questions in more detail. However, treatment was excellent and the results are very promising

My mother-in-law saw Dr. DePalma for back pain and actually only saw him once as he hands off his patients to his DO., Dr. Esseff in this case.after your first appointment. It is like a bait and switch as you see him the first time and then never hear from him again. He doesn't even have an x-ray machine in his office. Dr. Esseff when told her they don't manage pain when a sign behind him on the wall said they help with pain. They finally referred her to a surgeon and said they couldn't help.

I have been seeing Dr DePalma for about 6 months now for back and hip injections. He has helped me considerably with the pain I had and is very thorough in order to find the exact place to make these injections that will help you the best with your pain. It definitely reassure you. Dr DePalma and Dr Essar have for sure helped me a great deal so far !

I would recommend Dr. DePalma to family and friends because he is an outstanding Physician, very smart, very caring and compassionate to his patients. On top of that, his work ethics, work structure, work processes and outcomes are outstanding in the Richmond Virginia area and possibly nationwide. His assistants, nurses and other co-workers in his office are very courteous and efficient workers.

Epidural injections worked but there was a long, convoluted process/protocol required to get to that point.

After 13 years of 24 hour back/hip pain diagnosed and treated always as SI joint problems, Dr. DePalma felt strongly it was disc related. I was unsure of his diagnosis and treatment plan. He was totally right!After shots located in 3 different areas of my spine I am 95% pain free. For the first time in 13 years on vacation I could walk on a beach and join in pool games. I clean houses for a living so I am hoping this lasts as prior to treatment I was sure I would have to give up work.

Felt that he was competent and capable of treating my condition. So far all treatments have diminished my level of pain.

I have already recommended him to several friends.After the completion of his treatment plan,which included 2 epidurals and Pt,the pain I had been having went away!He was always on time for my appointments,very efficient.

Dr. DePalma, other doctors, and office staff are knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful in every way. I am very pleased and satisfied that my back problems were handled with the highest degree of medical proficiency and with a caring attitude. I am especially pleased with Dr. Essaff and his knowledge of the problems I was having with my back. I was referred to Dr DePalma by my family physician after having the usual Prednisone and physical therapy for lower back pain. Dr DePalma diagnosed the problem as severe spinal stenosis and deteriorated disks. He offered spinal nerve block injection as a possibly alternative to surgery. I got wonderful temporary relief but now am scheduled to have back surgery. I highly recommend seeing Dr DePalma to see what non-invasive treatments he can do that may postpone the need for major surgery.

He was very thoughtful and listened to my "complaints". He had prepared for my visit by reviewing my previous records. He worked with me to put together a plan for my lower back and knee issues. He did not rush me and gave me a thorough exam.

Was told to undress in the waiting room, Dr. DePalma's associate came in after many minutes to ask me questions and look look me over. He left the room, I waited about 20 minutes I wasnt sure what I should do, all I know I was in a lot of pain, I put my clothes on slowly, Dr Depalma comes in and very nastily says, "did I tell you to put your clothes on"? He left, I took them off, my back was in so much pain. He comes in asking me the same questions as his associate. Found him to be rude.

Spent over two months time dealing with Dr. DePalma, in that time 3 test were performed at their convenience. During that time his associate, not him saw me at my appointments. I felt as if I were just a test dummy for training purposes and Dr. DePalma or his associate good give a care about my condition. After two and half months I still have yet to receive treatment from a very serious condition. I am going back to my orthopedic physician for an opinion. Very cold and uncaring physician.

My primary care physician recommended Dr. DePalma to me after having had severe back pain for about 9 months. I had had a MRI and a x-ray prior to making my appointment. I also tried chiropractic care, physical therapy, medication, and exercises prior to seeing Dr. DePalma. I found him and his staff to be caring individuals that wanted to see me improve. It took four injections, but the results have been amazing. I can now function as I did a year ago. I feel like I have my life back!

My experience with Dr. DePalma has been life changing. For five years I dealt with lower back pain due to an accident. I saw over five doctors for my pain. I was sent finally to MCV VCU Sports Medicine and then to Stony Point where I met Dr. DePalma. Since then, I have not seen any other doctors. Dr. DePalma is the best spine surgeon out here. I have recommended him to family and friends, any their response was just like mine. Dr. DePalma is a GOD SEND.

It has been a good experience. My pain has went from intolerable the first 6-mos to manageable as long as I do not irritate the area.

I would highly recommend NOT using Dr. DePalma for any care. Had horrible experiences with scheduling appointments, having to wait over an hour for the doctor to see me in a very uncomfortable treatment room, had to abort a spinal injection because they hit an artery. Do not go to this practice,.......
