About Mr. Michael M Amiri
Reviews for Mr. Michael M Amiri
He was texting on his phone sporadically during our visit. Did not seem to be paying much attention to his us. Ultimately sent my husband for extensive blood work but 10 days have passed and we haven't received a thing. I initially called and asked them to send results to our surgeon and primary. They assured me they would but they didn't. I called today and they are "checking" to see what happened. Still waiting for the promised call back. Horrid office and doctor. Will be switching asap
Horrible visit. Dr. Amiri must have failed his Medical School class in compassion and manners. He was rude, cut me off when I answered his questions, ordered tests without explaining why. I am 73 yo and have worked at Temple Orthopedics in Philadelphia for an Orthopedic Surgeon, spent three years in the admissions office of Drexel Medical School then worked at the Neurology Department as an Administrative Assistant. Dr. Amiri's office is horrible: rude front desk staff, long waits for an when you arrive at your appointment and no nurse call backs when you have medicine issues! He would be great at a career with his computer and no patient contact as his patient care is horrible. Go to Southern Pines or anywhere else before wasting your money or time.
I typically don't leave negative reviews however feel it important this time. I felt very uncomfortable with this dr. He came across as pompous and would give me no time to express what I was dealing with. When I did finally get to speak as to what I was dealing with, he would quickly cut me off and I felt he was not listening at all. His bedside manner was horrible. I felt he could have cared less about my situation wanting to change my medication and told me it was stress related and that I needed to find a new job. As though that would be easy at 61. Never have I ever felt this uncomfortable with such an INCOMPASSIONATE individual. I'm cancelling follow ups and his recommendation of a sleep study and spinal tap.
Dr Amir's Staff, are, not the Freindliest in, The Laurinburg Office. The Skinny Caucasian Nurse. At Mecklenburg Numerology, Laurinburg, NC. Seemed, Jealous, of, me. Dr. Amir, is, very, Temprimental. Amiri, ordered, numerous Urinalysis. Medication, wasn't, filled. Until lab Corp results were,*Processed. I moved, for, a-couple months. I did, go, to, urgent care For a Refill. Amir, refused, refill my needed-Medication. Scheduling, with, Mecklenburg Nuerology, Laurinburg, NC. Was Horrific! Horrifiying Experiences, at, Mecklenburg Numerology. Laurinburg, NC. Once You figure, out, what, lies beneath the Surface.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Amiri‘s for @9months. When he came in, I didn’t necessarily mind him putting his phone on his computer, as I see others note, because I know sometimes doctors have emergencies, but I told him my 30 yr history of chronic migraines and all the docs and meds I’ve tried. I really hoped that he was listening, but I feel like he’s out to lunch! Asks you the same thing multiple times. I felt rushed to relay everything I needed to. I told him I CANNOT take one particular class of popular migraine meds, evidently he didn’t hear any of that. Very quickly I was out of the exam room and he was calling in the meds I CANT tolerate! Most inept, irresponsible person with a medical license I’ve ever known of! SERIOUSLY CONFUSED most the time, and his nurse is the only one who knows what’s needed! UNbelievably unprofessional! Needs to have his license revoked! Calls in meds that don’t come in the dosage he says.. just BAD NEWS!
Iâve been a patient of Dr. Amiriâs for about 10 months. I didnât experience anything negative with the front desk or nurses checking me in. The 1 star is only for the nursing staff that I have had communication with. She deserve a lot more!! When the Dr Amiri came in, I didnât necessarily mind him putting his phone on his computer, as I see others have mentioned, because I know sometimes doctors have emergencies, but I told him my 30 yr history of chronic migraines and all the many docs and meds Iâve tried. I really hoped that he was listening, but I feel like heâs out to lunch!!! I felt rushed to relay everything I needed to. I had told him I CANNOT take one particular class of popular migraine meds, and evidently he didnât hear any of that. Very quickly I was out of the exam room, going to the pharmacy to pick up 2 well-advertised, brand-name migraine meds~ in the very class of medication I told him I physically couldnât tolerate!!! Not only did insurance NOT cover this, but the pharmacy doesnât even keep it in stock because it is rarely ever prescribed! This is a national chain, if they donât have any patients using it then there is a reason! Got prior authorization completed to cover the cost of those two meds, but the correct dosage and count wasnât even written correctly! I paid $190 for two medications I cant use. (They only come in a box of 10 and his prescription was written for 9! WHO does This!? Have I just been spoiled after dealing with effective doctors all these years?) When those didnât work I went through another 4-6 weeks of constant messages and TOTAL DISASTER at every turn, because what Dr. Amiri would call in was not even a dosage that is made for the medication he was prescribing. His nurse knew that certain dosages were no longer used by pharmacies, and Iâm sure she reminded him. I cannot trust him to call in the simplest of scripts~~ even my pharmacy has had it with his nonsensical âprescribing.â Itâs pathetic that a patient knows what the correct dosage of meds is and HE doesnât, even after 20 years. This isnât just a one time thing that he got mixed up, this has happened every single time Iâve had an interaction with him. This is deeply concerning and it makes me so angry. Itâs also frightening to think he has patients in the hospital that he is overseeing and writing prescriptions for. At my very first initial visit he told me he wanted an MRI and a CT of my brain. Three months later~~ do you actually think heâs ever ordered them!?? I donât know whatâs going on with this man but heâs a loser as far as helping patients. If youâre in chronic pain, expect to wait days or weeks until he can get it together and write a prescription, and at that point you MUST immediately call pharmacist and ask if it was written correctly. Seriously considering contacting the medical board. His nurse must be made of GOLD, because she knows exactly what needs to be written, and she cannot get him to reply to her either. Michelle is so kind and overly patient. She deserves not only his salary, but 25 STARS for what she has to put up with! Sheâs 10 times more effective than he ever dared to be. I thought long and hard about writing this review and at this point I am over the mental anguish required to be his patient. What do I have to LOSE!?There s very little doctoring going on here. Gheesshhh...The most unprofessional person thatâs ever held a medical license.
Had the wrong patient chart up. Left room to take a phone call and was gone over 30 mins. Did not listen to my concerns at all. Very unkept presentation. Did not show any empathy or concerns. Dismissed my current diagnoses saying there was "no proof" when he had my medical records in front of him (well, scattered on the floor next to him). The office is also unkept and disorganized. Not happy with this visit as I have no answers to any of my concerns. Patient portal has the wrong information in it as well.
This office is terrible. The doctor does not listen to your concerns-ie being claustrophobic and sent for an MRI. I ended up having to be ordered a sedated MRI. Then I get to the hospital for the procedure and the order does not include sedation... I had to repeat my COVID test because they failed to send the orders to the facility. Iâm sitting here at the hospital for an appointment that has been scheduled for more than a month without the proper orders. All I get from the person that answers the phone is, âyou will have to reschedule because everyone is working remotely!â Thatâs some BS. I canât have someone repeatedly getting off work to take me to these appointments because of this officeâs carelessness!
I’m leaving another review as it appears mine has somehow disappeared Dr. Amiri is condescending, demeaning and judgmental. Did not even make eye contact when meeting me. He was insulting and cruel. He is a narcissist. He never took all my problems into consideration because he would not listen to me. His office staff was unprofessional and insulting as well. I am a 2x cancer survivor and I have NEVER had such a horrible experience with the entire practice. No compassion, no empathy and obviously no genuine care for others. I would lose my job if I treated people the way I have been treated. I cried in Dr. Amiri’s office during our appointment because I was trying so hard to hold back my anger and frustration. He blamed all of my neuro and cognitive issues on anxiety, at least the ones I had a chance to tell him about. He met me, reviewed my file, listened to a fraction of my concerns and offered to write me out of work because of anxiety! If he was with Novant or Atrium
Dr. Amiri just looked at me & said, "I think it's stress." I said, OK, could you run some tests to find out why I'm falling a lot & my leg is numb? These symptoms came on quickly like a stroke. He mentioned Lyme disease, vitamin deficiency & a few other things. I asked, "So what tests will you do?" He said he'd just do some blood work and he was sure it was nothing serious. I went & had the blood work done & everything was normal. I begged him to scan my spine. He refused. I went back to my PCP & he ran an MRI and discovered a lesion on my spinal cord that had demyelinated a section of the outer covering. PCP sent me to a different neurologist & was diagnosed almost immediately with Transverse Myelitis. Because Amiri refused to do an MRI, I wasn't treated quickly enough, I now have permanent spinal cord damage. I stopped in his office some time later & told him what I had & that it was permanent damage. He acted like he couldn't care less. This man does not need to be a neurologist!
I am so grateful for the thoroughness Dr. Amiri and his PA-C, Kelly Xiong. I am assuming that most people that have given him bad reviews don't realize that his customs might be different than what we would expect from a "true Southern Gentleman-like" doctor. He tells it like it is--no sugar-coating to it. He dotted every I and crossed every T to make sure that I was properly diagnosed with RRMS. I had been misdiagnosed TWICE as having carpal tunnel syndrome, and with me being a musician, I thought that my musical career had ended. He did want several tests done, but he did that because he wanted to rule out other MS-mimicking diseases. And sure enough, he diagnosed me correctly. I am not doped up on medicines. I take Tecfidera to reduce relapses by almost 50% and slows the progression of the disease. I have terrible MS fatigue, and that was adressed, as well. Words cannot express how happy I am that I went with my gut instinct and chose him as my MS specialist. Thank you, Dr. Amiri.
Excellent doctor. Caring, compassionate, and deserving of a 5 star rating. I
Caring and compassionate provider. Goes the extra mile for his patients.
It was such a terrible experience! We waited for more than an hour to see the Dr. after having an appointment. Dr. Amiri kept on going in and out of the office during our time with him. Very unprofessional, and he suggested some procedure that’s not necessary. The worst part is the office NEVER filed a claim through our insurance so we ended up having to pay for it!!!

What a weird experience. I have never felt like running from a doctors office until yesterday. The office was filthy. I am not sure anyone cleans. The staff was not very friendly. Then I met Dr. Amari. His examination room was also filthy, he had a desk stacked with papers with coffee stains, old coffee cups, extra pairs of shoes and trash can overflowing with trash. He has ZERO bedside manor and basically gave me meds without really even knowing what was going on. He told me to take 3 different meds for migraines. When I questioned how we would know which of the meds was helping he just said “oh we’ll know”. What? It seems like he is over medicating which makes me wonder What kind of kick backs he is getting from pharmaceutical companies. I will not be not be going back. I should have known when I got in so quickly that it wasn’t going to be good.
Said that he was 99% sure that I did not have a tumor. Well the 1% outweighed the 99, there was a tumor. Dr. Amiri did order the MRI which revealed the tumor. This alone was the one positive thing that he did. MW-Charlotte, NC
Horrible bedside manner, horrible overall person. Rude pompous jerk. My 11 yo son was upset with this doctor by the time we left. This guy drilled my son, twisted his words, and asked questions he didn't understand but would get mad if we helped answer or corrected what the doctor was reading into these answers. He would not listen and said he does not care what anyone else says he will decide what's wrong. He tried to say it was psychological. We will NEVER go to him again. Avoid this guy. Staff were nice but not worth dealing with him.

Most terrible weird doctor I have ever met. Stopped seeing him after three visits. Did not care about me at all. You are all right, spread the word his bed side manor was the worst. Not to mention he is very weird. Made me really uncomfortable. The office is unclean, did not even attempt to change the bedding from former person laying on it!!!! GROSS.
Hands down the worst doctor Ive ever bee to (and I have been to a lot). Poor diagnostic ability- only knows what he knows. Absolutely atrocious bedside manor

Dr. Amiri was one of the most horrific providers in this area. I waited a very long time to see him after being seen multiple times at Urgent Care for my migraines & tension headaches which have been debilitating. Dr. Amiri has an unprofessional bedside manner. I was advised by one of the scheduling reps that he was one of the best at this practice, and that couldn't be further from the truth. What kind of doctor needs to dictate his note on a cell phone during patient time?

Dr. Amiri was very rude and condescending. Not only did we wait an hour and a half but when we got in there to see him he said both CT-A of brain and neck were negative. I had to step in and show him the radiology report for my CT-A of the neck where I have 65-70% stenosis of the internal carotid artery. He then said that that percentage of stenosis is not a big deal. Told me to come back in a year to re-check. Called my GP and explained, he said he wanted me in his office within 2 days.
Horrible bedside attitude; He'd rather hear himself talk than actually listen to your complaints. During follow ups, he had my history wrong and was demeaning. He said my family Dr was wrong, I was wrong and that the pain was psychological - despite the MRI he had in front of him. 3 months later, I'm about to undergo surgery for things he said didn't exist. Worst Dr experience of my life!

This is Mom's 3rd visit for restless leg syndrome. She had suffered for years & was ready to give up & die. Dr Amiri asked thoughtful questions & changed her meds. Her symptoms have completely gone away. This Is a miracle. Very knowledgeable. This visit she was having leg cramps and he prescribed a med for that. Bad reviews are likely from patients that do not want to take time to communicate. He has a soft voice. Can request that he not use recorder but does not bother Mom. Great doctor!!!!
Can't diagnose me I had 3 seizures almost 5 years ago and haven't had another since. He wants me on meds which I haven't been on in about 5 years. He is money hungry
Took my mother in law to see Dr Amiri. Her primary care physician wanted her to see a neurologist because of headaches she had been having. Since it would be 4 months before she could get an appointment with the neurologist she had seen 10 years ago she was sent to Dr Amiri, now I know why she got an appt so quickly! He was rude, condescending, no bed side manners whatsoever and what I can only describe as a bully!!

Boy am I glad that I waited to reserve judgment about Dr. Amiri until after we saw him. Dr. Amiri couldn't have been more opposite of the negative reviews. He spent a great deal of time with us and never made us feel rushed. He wanted to make sure he understood all symptoms and explained the condition in a very clear way. He did schedule appropriate tests so that we would have all the data necessary to make an informed decision and create a treatment plan.

My wife has many symptoms and doctors have been looking into her having MS. She went to see Dr. Amiri because we recently moved to NC and she needs new doctors. Out of all the many doctors she's had in the past I have never heard or seen a doctor treating her as bad as Amiri. He didn't want to listen to her, basically treated her like a dope addict that was fabricating her illness. She cried in his office because of how he was treating her and he could have cared less. Horrible doctor!

He is by far the most cold and uncomfortable Doctor I have ever visited. He prescribed me a bunch of medications I do not need. I only take one for my epilepsy, and he prescribed my two more with no questions asked. I keep him as my neurologist because his nurse practitioner, Betty, is amazing. I told the front staff that he makes me uncomfortable, and they allow me to see her only. I told them that I could not I would leave their facility. He is as bad as the ratings suggest. Do not see him
