Dr. M is great, but I always have to wait an hour in the office before I get called back for an examination, which takes about 20 min. Then I get to see the Doc. So - be prepared for 1.5+ hrs for a visit.

The Dr is good, but be prepared to wait….and wait, and wait. There is only this Dr and no other Dr assisting him. The approximate wait time is 2 hours. Yours could be longer. My mom had cataract surgery with him, after that we have had I believe 3 or 4 follow up appts. They supposedly give priority to the cataract surgery patients in the early morning right when they open, but last time we went the appt was at 8:30 and the entire room was full of patients already. From start to finish it took us 2 hours. Your appointment time does really mean anything, except the Dr will see you that day. You go and sign in, there is a whole room of people waiting ahead of you, first all of those patients go. Then it’s your turn (of the FIRST round of waiting). Then, you see the nurse who does the eye pressure and some letter-reading, dilation if necessary, etc. then you go to another waiting room where you AGAIN have to wait for the entire room of people to go and THEN it’s your turn. This is when the Dr sees you. This part is relatively short. You have to block out an entire 1/2 of the day to see the Dr. This is what I cannot stand about the office. I know it’s not their fault, but I am just stating the facts. As far as the cataract surgery, that part went well. My Mom says she cannot tell that much difference, so we’ll see. The Dr said he had to tweak some things, but that the surgery went well and she is healing well. We were recommended to Dr. McMenemy by my mom’s original optometrist that she saw a few years ago, & she recommended him to check something in her eye. I don’t know if he is the only eye specialist in Sugar Land? It seems that way by the # of patients he has daily waiting in his office. If there was someone else with a shorter wait time, I am sorry but I would go to that Dr. I just don’t know who that is. Once or twice a year is fine, but right now we have had multiple appointments in the past couple of months, and it’s just too much waiting and like I said entire half of the day get spent just waiting. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in the waiting room. It was standing room only in there on my recent appointment day and I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. At 9am there were upwards of 20 patients in there. The doctor should consider bringing on a partner or limiting appointments. One doctor should not have 20 patients in his clinic at the same time. It’s disrespectful of his patients time to make them wait so long. He seems like a good doctor but the practice is poorly managed. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in the waiting room. Dr. McMenemy did my mother in law and my 89 year old father, and was excellent. I had no problem with the people at the front desk, and if scheduling is an issue it is because he is one of the best in the area, and therefore stays busy. That is what I looked for when I did my research to find the best in the area. They were very kind to my father and allowed me to go back with him until he went in for a surgery, even when they were taking every precaution for Covid. My father is very hard of hearing and they allowed him to keep his hearing aid in on one side. The results with both family members were excellent, and both said they would have had cataract surgery sooner if they knew it was going to be so easy. I plan to go to him myself in the near future.

Extremely difficult to get an appointment. Doctor is booked 6 months in advance. Been a long time patient (over 15 years). Will make appointment with other doctor that can see me within a month. Otherwise great doctor.

I have used Dr. McMenemy for many years and would never consider using anyone else. My experience with him and his staff has alway been great. There were a few times I had to wait but I consider that a small price to pay to be in such competent hands.

I don’t believe the poor reviews are because of this doctor practice itself. But because of his front desk staff by poor customer service. I attempted to be seen for the first time by this doctor and what I received from the front desk was impoliteness ! On top of that they did not have the courtesy to call me and advise me ahead of time that I have to come with $200+ out of pocket to pay for my first visit. I am not coming back and chances are I will not bring my Mother there anymore since she is an established patient!

My review is thumbs down. My husband has been a patient of Dr. McMenemy for several years now and was always happy with his services. The front desk staff on the other hand have not been friendly or attentive, and last Thursday, May 3rd, 2021, were not helpful at all. My husband called to make an appointment because he has new concerns about his eyesight, and not even trying to work with him to schedule an appointment, told him that the Dr. can't see him till November! Being an established patient for 5 years, we are not happy with no help at all from the front desk to schedule an appointment much sooner than November. Another thing, today, May 7th, 2021, I have tried 2 times now to talk with the Office Manager, leaving a voicemail for her to call me back and though I was told that she's in the office, she has not returned my call. My cataract surgery on both eyes was a pleasant and successful experience.

I was most impressed with Dr McMenemy and his staff. I had cataract surgery on both eyes. The wait was a little long at times, yet the care made up for wait.

My go to eye doctor. Always has such a good attitude and willing to help. My dad goes here, my sister, my future kids will go here. Definately a doctor to keep in the family. Staff is always so attentive and friendly.

Dr McMenemy and his staff are the best. He did surgery and removed a cataract and everything went great. The staff at Sugar Land Surgical could not have been any nicer. They were absolutely wonderful!!

Performed a Cornea scrape on February 9th, said I should be seeing clearly on about 1 week. Here it is May 13th and still CAN NOT SEE! Can’t even read the Big letter E on the eye chart! Absolutely unbelievable! He was supposed to make sure I could see clearly, but now he said my 3 months are up and he is going to start charging me an office visit copay! There should not be a deadline on his word! Especially when I still can’t see clearly! That is NOT ACCEPTABLE! I put 10 drops every day for the last 3 months, with no change! The surgery was $700, the only reason I had it done, was because he stated it would be the quickest way to see clearly again in the shortest amount of time! DO NOT GO TO LONE STAR EYE! There are too many eye doctors, to have to go through this much pain and trouble! One time I had an 8 an appointment and there were 4 other people with the same appointment time! The only Doctor in the office, his staff makes excuses, that they are short staffed! 0 Star Rating

New patient waiting for hours. Have not seen the doc yet.

Few hours before my appointment, one of the receptionist called me for a Covid-19 screening questions. She was adamant that I wear a mask when I get there. Good, that made me feel safe. None of the staff at the reception was wearing a mask but there is a protective barrier so I guess, it is okay. The technician who called me in was not wearing a mask, so I asked why she is not wearing one. She explained that she cannot breathe and patients could not understand her instructions. I told her that I am uncomfortable with her without a mask on. She gasped saying "Oh, Gosh!" with an attitude. She then put on her mask and continued with the testing. I do not understand why at the height of the pandemic that a tech is allowed not to wear a mask when working with most patients whose age are at high risk. I do not feel safe coming to this clinic. Doc is okay but should spend more time explaining my condition BTW there was no problem understanding the tech's instructions with mask on

I highly recommend Dr. Matthew McMenemy. He's been my opthomologist for several years. Today, I developed a problem with my eye and was pleasantly surprised I was able to reach him after hours on a Sunday. As usual, his care was exceptional. The manor in which he takes care of his patients Is by far among the best in his field. Thank you so much.

The doctor himself is very good, but has to many unprofessional girls working for him. He is very overbooked! The girls are rude and short! I waited until 6:00pm because he was so overbooked and I live out of town. I have macular degeneration and he didn’t want to do anything for me that day because he was running behind. I am giving him one more appointment and if he doesn’t take his time with me I won’t be going back to see him.

IMHO it takes along time to see him and he spends as little time as possible with his patiences. Also he incorrectly diagnosed my eye glasses. Cannot see well with his prescription Another waste of time and money going back... you should stop and reconsider before seeing this guy...you have been warned

I went in with blurry vision while 32 weeks pregnant. He told me the blurry vision could be signs of MS, blindness, or just pregnancy. He then took my blood pressure and it was 224/145 which is emergency room/stroke level high. He didn’t mention anything to me and sent me on my way. Luckily I had a regular OB appointment and she saw my numbers and sent me right to the hospital. I ended up having an emergency c-section because they were worried I would have a stroke. I will NEVER go back to him.

Oh my he have a lot of patients. Staff is friendly Monica will answer your questions. You come in and going out.

The Dr and staff are very professional. l went there with my wife for the first time and both of us had a positive impression. He is now our new doctor.

While the wait time can be long at his office, Dr. Matthew McMenemy has over 35 years of experience and is a great physician who cares about the well-being of his patients. He listens to your concerns and is very thorough, and he's one of the few doctors I know who answers phone calls from patients on the weekends. I'd much rather wait a little longer to see Dr. McMenemy than go elsewhere. I highly recommend him.

Dr. McMenemy is extremely good at removing cataracts. He also is a super listener and interested in your concerns. I'd recommend him highly. Two of my best friends also think he's great at what he does.

Customer Service is not in the vocabulary of this doctor and his staff. I have been a patient for years, and I have finally had it and will begin looking for a new doctor. He and his staff have no idea about time management and they think that an eye appointment should be at least 2 hours long even if you are just going in for a follow up. Their accounting department is not much better as they take your money but don't tell you that you have a credit until you push the issue.

Great experience! I had an urgent issue with my eye and my Cardiologist referred me to Dr. McMenemy at Lone Star Eye. I did not have an appointment, but the staff seemlessly worked me right into the schedule. They have a well defined process that keeps patients moving through the exam process. Dr. McMenemy himself is highly skilled, thorough and very personable. While I was anxious about my eye, I was comforted by the diagnosis and treatment plan. Great experience! Great experience! While clearly a nice person by personality, I would not recommend him to others as a physician. Dr.McMenemy appears to overbook himself with at least 10-20 patients per hour and trusts his very capable technicians. I spent 5 minutes with him, with no ability to ask follow-up questions as he ran to the next appointment.
