Dr. Matthew R Craig

Dr. Craig shared my xrays with me and explained what was happening with my leg. He gave easy-to-follow directions for exercizes for me to do at home. I appreciated his caring manner.

He answered my questions fully and directly with explanations as to what I should expect and what I needed to do within the next month before my next appointment

Dr. Craig is a true professional. He explains your options in a logical way and performs his work as well or even better than expected. I would not hesitate in recommending him to anyone in need of his services and follow up care.

After breaking the tibia and fibula at my knee, Dr. Matthew Craig made me feel confident in the incredible work he could perform as an orthopedic surgeon! He truly uses the gift he has and because of that my knee feels completely healed. He also taught me along the way how to heal by doing specific exercises correctly. Thank you Dr. Craig!

Dr. Craig was the most insensitive medical professional I have ever encountered. I came to him with a fracture, and he called me stupid, and other things that would make a 19-year-old cry, when they are already in pain. He spoke in a condescending tone throughout pre-op appointments and all of my follow-up appointments. From a patient perspective, I would dread going to see him, knowing that I would leave the office feeling humiliated and insulted. Technically, the surgery was successful with no complications. But bedside manner and general politeness have much to be desired.

Dr. Craig is very kind. He takes all the time you might need. He’s kind & compassionate. I met him through Abington ICU Trauma after falling 15 feet off a ladder. He did a great job on my wrist!! I highly recommend him.

Always on point and too the point.

Dr craig fixed my broken right ankle in February using rods and screws. I like his personality and would recommend as a good surgeon

Dr. Craig is the best! If it was not for his skill as a surgeon, I would not be able to do the things I can do today. Office follow ups were great. His staff is conscientious and Dr. Craig is cheerful, kind and he readily gives you a listening ear.

Since having several surgeries performed by doctor Craig he's a very personable doctor who actually called me to check on me after my surgery. I've put my trust in rothman since Dr rothman performed my first surgery. Don't trust too many unfortunately but the rothman staff Yesss

Dr. Craig is a skilled surgeon, but his comments to me, and the care he gave me after my surgery were not great. At my first appointment after seriously injuring my knee, I asked him how bad my fracture was. He said "What do you care?" And that set the tone for our interactions. I would ask a few normal questions, and he'd give me head-scratching, unhelpful answers. But the worst was yet to come. Three months out from surgery, Dr. Craig said the reason my knee hadn't gained much flexibility was that I wasn't working hard enough at my PT. But I had been working hard; he didn't listen. I found another knee doctor who said scar tissue, that formed when my knee was immobilized, was keeping my knee from bending. No amount of PT could change it. The new doctor operated on my knee and removed a substantial amount of scar tissue. The second surgery allowed my knee to benefit from all the PT I was doing. I can now walk fairly normally. If I had taken Craig's advice, I'd be disabled.

Terrific surgeon. Terribly long wait at the office every single time. Last visit we waited more than 2 hours for a 5 minute visit with the surgeon. No apologies, no explanations.

Doctor Craig is a wonderful surgeon and I must say he don't push you he let you push yourself and that's what I like about him I understand him I wish all the doctors could be just like him. He put a plate in 2 screws in my leg and my leg feel wonderful it hurts time to time but it's not like a pain that I can't handle. I broke my right heel and left tibia on July 7th 2021 Immediately after the diagnosis was that surgery had to happen Dr. Craig stepped in and did some amazing work just about three months later I’m fully walking and able to go back to work!!!!! As a former United States Marine I am thoroughly impressed with what Dr. Craig and the good folks at Rothman we able to do for me!!!! I am a 74 yr old woman who fell down a flight of basement steps. Dr Craig is a skilled surgeon and an wonderful human being. Without his skill and care, I would have lost my left leg. I am eternally grateful to him.

Dr Craig is very efficient at what he does, not only with the surgery but with his kindness and compassion. I really like him as my doctor and as a person.

Dr. Craig is the best! He knows what he's doing and can answer all questions. I broke my tibia bone towards the knee. I am feeling good as new and my scar is barely noticeable. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to perform my surgery!

Dr. Craig took care of me for a trimalleolar fracture. He is very direct and has a great sense of humor. On the way to surgery he told me he would have me running in 4 months. ( I did not tell him I don't run.) I am back to walking my dogs. Very happy!

My experience of having my humerus, which was terribly fractured in many places, repaired by Dr. Matthew Craig at Rothman Orthopedic has been a very positive one. I am very grateful for how well he was able to mend the bone back to its original shape and I greatly appreciate his optimistic outlook toward my recovery. The later has been a great encouragement to me in my recovery. I also greatly appreciate the physical and occupational therapists at Rothman PT that I have had the opportunity to be treated by. Dr. Cragg did a great job on my femur surgery. I found him to be friendly and easy to communicate with.

Although I’m sure Dr Craig is a qualified surgeon, I found him to be condescending, inconsiderate and overall rude. His lack of compassion and his demeanor was quite frankly, unprofessional. His staff, on the other hand were helpful, patient and informative. Wish I had read the other reviews before my appt but I was in need of an orthopedic surgeon ASAP.

I was glad to go to my appointment with Dr. Craig. I was so fortunate to have him as my surgeon. He did a superior job on both of my ankles. I believe he truly cares about giving all his patients, the best possible outcome. Top Notch!

I was in a MVA and was treated in Abington Emergency room with a left hip dislocation I followed up with Dr. Craig in his willow grove office as a new patient doctor was great he reviewed and discussed my injury very pleased and the staff was great, Haley was so helpful with the questions I had after i saw Dr. Craig........great first time experience keep up the good work Rothman Orthopedics:)

I was a trauma patient after a nasty accident, had 5 breaks between both legs and DR. Craig took the best care of me almost completely no pain through the entire process and after only three months I'm back on my own two feet!

I fell from a ladder 15 ft to a concrete floor. Two broken legs a broken wrist and a compression fracture in my back. Dr. Craig was the original orthopedic surgeon treating my traumatic leg injury. He has continued to treat me on an ongoing outpatient basis. I find his treatment methodology to be honest and straight forward. I respect both his candor in discussing my injuries and their subsequent treatment and remediation. excellent surgeon

Dr Craig performed open reduction and internal fixation surgery after I broke my tibia and fibula. From the initial meeting with him I felt I was in safe hands. He did an excellent job on my surgery and the after care has been perfect. He is professional and caring and always willing to answer any of my questions. He is thorough with his information and I he never rushes through appointments. I expect excellent care from a physician and I have received it from Dr Craig. His staff are caring and friendly.

Excellent experience with Dr. Craig. When I was in E.R. after falling and breaking my arm I asked orthopedic resident who he recommended to do the surgery because the bone was displaced. He said Dr. Craig, he can fix anything!

doctor Craig is a top trauma Surgeon and came very highly recommended to me. He was very accommodation, presented all the information about injury and my options very clearly and what the risks were. My surgery and subsequent recovery is going extremely well!!!

I'm thankful that I was recommended to Dr. Craig. From the 1st appointment to surgery, it was 1st class. Dr. Craig explained everything clearly and in terms me and my wife understood. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Words can't express how grateful I am to Dr. Craig for repairing my son's femur that he broke in a car accident in April of this year. Dr. Craig's bedside manner, and his knowledge and experience is exceptional! I don't know where my son would be today if it wasn't for him. Dr. Craig got the phone call about my son's accident as the ambulance was transporting him to the ER, Dr. Craig was on his way home, and turned around to get back to the hospital to take care of my 16 yr old. He had a plan and went into surgery to repair his Femur, and pelvis. A rod and 9 screws later, my son is back on the ice (ice hockey) All because Dr. Craig was there, and took the time and his expertise to work hard on getting him back to where he is today. THANK YOU SO MUCH.. I will be forever grateful to you and your staff.

Dr. Craig, operated on my left arm which was shattered. No one else wanted to touch it. I am very grateful to Dr Craig for for completely repairing my arm. He is excellent.

He was really nice and very knowledgeable. Didn’t try to sugarcoat the severity of my problem and gave me all the options . Told me i’d be an hour and a half and was right to the minute. Handled my case well and I appreciate it .

I suffered a shattered leg from a M/C accident having extensive bone, knee, nerve and tissue damage. I was recommended by another orthopedic doctor to seek the help of Dr.Craig. The on- call ER ortho was not comfortable with operating on me as my trauma was beyond severe. This was the best advice I have ever received in my life. Dr.Craig confident and willing did operate and treat my injury resulting in life continuing for me. Brian

My wife had Tibular surgery in 2011 and 5 pins were inserted to hold the bones together. The surgery was excellent, the young surgeon was great. Post-op, the doctor was not experienced in the patient counseling area as to the best methods of recovery. Just so happened, a neighbor who had knee replacement surgery a few years prior to 2011, recommended the knee bending machine to my wife. Thank God for angels, the doctor most definitely left her out to dry. So, when all is said and done; please question you doctor on pre & post surgery counseling for the best method of recovery. At this very moment of writing this review, my wife has consulted with the Dr above 02/2017 to remove the pins, just for her own comfort due to cold weather seasons. The Dr is now seasoned, so counseling pre & post appears to have be improved. Great personality, good bed side manners, lots of confidence, open minded, honest. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Craig to family and friends! His surgery skills are exceptional. He takes the time to answer all questions and to explain his procedures in a manner that both professional and lay people alike can understand. I was very confident in his care.

I had the worst experience with Dr. Craig. I wouldn't recommend him at all. When he repaired the fracture in my hip, the screw was put in to far and went through the femoral head and ended up killing the bone. All my follow up appts. with Dr. Craig, I kept trying to tell him that something was wrong, I wasn't getting better, couldn't walk and he refused to listen or offer further testing. After 5 months I saw a new ortho, who found the problem and I had a full hip replacement I'm cured 6 weeks.

Dr Craig took care of my 91 year old Mom when she fell and broke her hip. He met me before they took her into the O.R .and explained the procedure and then saw me right after surgery was completed!! Saw him 6 weeks later and he was fabulous and then saw him again 6 months later because Mom was doing so well. I can give him 110% PLUS!!! Dr Craig has wonderful patient family Dr relationships. Thank you Dr Craig!!
