Dr. Mary Otterson

Dr. Otterson performed colorectal surgery on me in June of 2021. She is probably the best doctor I have ever seen. She figured out my issue which was a very obscure fistula that did not clearly show up on 2 MRIs or a fluoroscopy. Dr. Newcomer was the other surgeon; she is a top notch female urogynecologist. Dr. Otterson's NP, Sarah Lundeen, is amazing. She is very knowledgeable, caring, and answers "My Chart" questions on the same day, often within the hour. The office is a happy place to visit. I truly felt like they were family who would take excellent care of me, so I didn't have to worry. I would give Dr. Otterson 10 stars if I could! Dr. Otterson and her assistant Sarah were top notch in every aspect of my surgery (resection of the small intestine for Crohn's). They made sure I understood the needs of the surgery, they understood my concerns, and overall ended up getting my surgery done in less time than they thought it would take. In regards to follow up, I saw Dr. Otterson everyday in the hospital (I was there for 7 days, until my intestines woke up), sometimes alongside Sarah. I also saw a surgery team every morning to adjust my care daily according to how I felt. I did have some issues with a fast heartbeat and where I had trouble breathing... and Dr. Otterson ran all the way from the top floor of the hospital to where I was to get proper care ordered for me (she thought I may have had a blood clot). She stayed with me for at least an hour until I had my proper tests ordered. I rate her A+, her assistant A+, and all the staff at Froedtert were wonderful as well. I would definitely recommend her for any intestinal surgery, and if I have to have it again... hope she is still here to do my surgery in the future!

Dr. Otterson is the best surgeon that I have ever had. I have Crohn's Disease. She is an artistic at intestinal surgery. She has been my surgeon for several bowel resections and repairs. I am grateful to be her patient; I am grateful for her professional gifts and talents; I am blessed to know that she is the best! Thank you!

GI resection patient. The surgery was successful in all important ways. Everything works the way it used to, even after some pretty radical re-routing. I was more than pleased. After the surgery, I saw Dr. Otterson one time, for about two minutes. All other followup was handled through intermediaries.
