Dr. Martin Hertl

Dr. Hertl was the primary transplant surgeon for my sister and I wish he would have been the only surgeon on my sister's case. I accompanied my sister on all her clinic visits and Dr. Hertl was very communicative, compassionate and followed up on any questions given to him in a timely manner. It became evident that Martin has a very good sense of humor as he would laugh at my sister's lamest attempts at jokes. There was no doubt that he cared about my sister's health and spent valuable time sitting with her and listening to what she had to say. When the surgery from the other surgeon went poorly, Dr. Hertl would stop by her room to comfort me, explain the situation in terms I could understand, arranged for me to be there with her after visiting hours the night she passed and called me immediately after my sister passed away to offer condolences. You are in excellent care with Dr. Hertl and I owe him a lot of gratitude.

I'm recovering well and with a minimum of discomfort. Thanks for providing your expert service. It would have been comforting to have had more than a few seconds of face time with you just before the surgery.

I had a liver resection in 2006 performed by Dr. Hertl. Due to another health condition things might not have turned out so well if I had not been under Dr. Hertl's care. A great doctor with a great personality = a rare find.

I was the donor for my father's liver transplant in 2006. I figured that going into one of the biggest and bet hospitals in the world would mean great treatment but less than perfect 'attention' as the staff and doctors were very busy. I was completely wrong. My entire process, leading up to surgery, 6 days in the hospital, and follow-up...I was treated like I was their only patient. Dr. Hertl was the best! He took as much time as needed in explaining options and the procedure and the follow-up was incredible. My only complaint was he was too funny! Normally I would love it but with my stomach cut open and healing, it hurt to laugh! He is the best! My father is doing great 3 years later!

he is the best surgeon ihav eever had to deal with with excellent beside maner he is highly skilled and my personel physcian is impressed by his excellent work on my medicial problems over the yrs
