Marlo Oyster Van Steyn

Dr Van Styne did a great job. She and her staff were very helpful and kind. My whole experience was excellent.

When I was having trouble moving my fingers and numbness in my arm she was able to order the appropriate test to diagnose my condition of carpel tunnel, trigger finger, and cubital tunnel. After surgery it eliminated my numbness in my arm and a cortisone shot helped my trigger finger. Most recently I had difficulty opening other fingers. I was diagnosed with additional fingers having trigger finger and two additional cortisone shots were administered. Dr. Van Steyn has been knowledgeable, answers my questions, and companionate with me.

Dr. Van Steyn is not only an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable surgeon, but she has an innate ability to connect with patients. Her bedside manner a second to none!

She was very through, gave me time to ask questions, explained everything in detail in a way I could understand. She was respectful of my horrible insurance and gave me advice and alternatives on how to care for myself to avoid coming back in. I appreciated that. Not everyone has the luxury of medical care and not all medical professionals respect that.

Very skilled surgeon, successfully treated my hand/fingers contracture. Took the time to explain the procedure, excellent follow up visit. Just a delightful doc who obviously cares much for her patients. Very grateful for her treatment and “ bedside manner”. I’m in OT now; she’s given me a chance to have my hobby, woodworking, back.

She brings orthopedic skills and expertise as well as attending to your needs from the perspective of wellness. She and her team executed on their promises. Refreshing in this day and age.

Dr.Marlo Van Steyn is intelligent, caring and the best kind of surgeon, kind and knowledgeable. I had to have surgery on my left hand 5 years ago and she did an amazing job. Now my right hand needs help. I went to see her on May 13th and she is helping me deal with my problem. What I like about her is that she doesn't rush to surgery unless it is necessary. I would highly recommend her. Orthopedic One is extremely like to have her working for them.

Dr. Van Steyn is an outstanding physician who is technically top notch, caring and attentive to patient needs and desires.

I am really disappointed in Dr. Van Steyn. She performed surgery on my left thumb to correct another surgeon's surgery. In addition, she was to remove 3 small foreign bodies from my index finger on the same hand. I received a nerve block and watched Dr. Van Steyn remove the foreign bodies before the anesthesia took hold. The surgery has gone very poorly, much more pain than previously. In addition, Orthopedic One billed my insurance company over $4000 for a "surgical assistant" for the foreign body removal.

This is the second time I've come to Dr. Van Steyn for hand issues. She's very personable and knowledgeable and I trust her opinions. I figure I have 8 more fingers that could need assistance and she'll be my go-to person each time.

Dr Van Steyn is the most caring, compassionate doctor that takes time to get to know her patience. She explains all options available to you to make the best decision. Truly a one of kind doctor that I highly recommend above all others. The best hands down!!!!!

Dr. Van Steyn is the BEST. She's professional, smart, gentle and compassionate. The perfect combination! She listens to all your concerns and questions and gladly answers them all without rushing you. She's also a great surgeon. When my husband was in the hospital for emergency surgery, all the staff told us how lucky we were to have her on call, as they thought she was the best also. We were and are blessed to have her as our Orho. hand/arm surgeon & doctor.

Dr Van Steyn is the best hand doctor in my opinion. She worked on my left hand in 2014 and did an incredible job.

Dr. Van Steyn is extremely knowledgeable and was able to diagnose and treat my hand condition in just a few minutes. Excellent communication and I was even able to get in and out within 30 minutes.

Dr. Van Steyn is one of the most caring and compassionate doctors I have ever met. She is very knowledgeable and explains things clearly with a wonderful bedside manner. She gave me all the options for my broken wrist and helped me make the best decision for me. I will not consider any other doctor if I ever need hand / wrist surgery again! (hopefully not :)

Dr. Van Steyn is compassionate and thorough. I have had surgery by her before that turned out excellent and didn’t consider going anywhere else for evaluation and surgery again on a different part of my hand.

Dr. Van Steyn is a wonderful doctor. I had to go to her for severe arthritis pain in my thumb. She took time to discuss my options & talked me through the steroid Injection. She helped me focus on something other than the needle. I’ve heard these shots are so painful & I was terrified. I have to say i barely felt anything. I’m so thankful my doctor referred me to her. She truly loves her job & cares about her patients.

Dr. Van Steyn is brilliant and compassionate. I am so thankful I went to her for a second and final opinion for both of my hand surgeries.

My 9-year-old daughter broke her wrist while playing soccer in late April. Dr. Marlo Van Stein squeezed us in and our care has been outstanding from her and her entire team. The whole office has been flexible with scheduling, willing to work with us to find the most cost effective way to treat our daughter, friendly and willing to make numerous calls to try to figure out what our insurance would cover. The support staff (Andrea, Steve and Jack) was amazing and extremely supportive! :)

I cannot say enough about Dr. Van Steyn’s professionalism, skill, compassion and caring as a surgeon. Her recommendation (and surgery) to reattach the radius bone to my wrist with a plate/screws was the best decision and experience ever for me (I did get a second opinion – which she fully supported). One month post surgery, I was brace free with nearly 100% full mobility and function back (I’m 60, BTW). I'm so grateful I found Dr. Van Steyn – just a wonderful person, too – 5 stars all around!

I have seen Dr. Van Steyn twice over the last few years for injuries. She has been an excellent provider. I feel like she actually cares about me as a patient, and not just a number, which isn't always the case for doctors. She even took the time to follow up with me after my more serious procedure and took questions after both procedures. I don't recommend doctors usually, nor go online but I am so impressed that after this procedure I just have to recommend Dr. Van Steyn to all my friends.

I came across Dr. Van Steyn looking for a surgeon to fuse my wrist. Cannot say enough good things about her! Professional, thorough and amazing at what she does. She also has to have one of the best bedside manners of any Dr. I have dealt with in my 30+ years living with RA. Surgery was a breeze and recovery was not as bad as I expected. Worth the 1.5 hr drive! So excited to start living a pain free life! Also have to give props to her amazing office staff too. Great group of people. Thanks!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Van Steyn. Excellent doctor, excellent listener, excellent surgeon. She gave me options to deal with my carpal tunnel syndrome. I opted for surgery. She literally changed my life! I no longer experience the tingling and numbness that kept me from doing everyday projects and that kept me up at night. Few years back met with her regarding swollen distorted finger. Her comment” probably arthritis, age”. No x-ray. No interest. Saw Dr at Ortho One and s very different experience, very professional.

Not knowledgeable regarding arthritis in hand and fingers. She said I probably had a stubbed or hit my finger and it would get better 3-6 months with PT or bending and straightening my finger. After 18 months I went to another Hand Ortho specialist and he took 1 look at xray and diagnosed with severe osteo arthritis in that finger. I now have an appt with Rheumatologist for further diagnosis continuing care. On scale of 1-10 with 10 being best I would rate Dr. Van Steyn 1 or 2

Dr. Van Steyn is a fabulous doctor! She listened to all my concerns and had thoughtful responses. She has performed two hand surgeries for me and I couldn't be happier.

She has a great bedside manner. She treated my son's spiral ring finger fracture and the results are incredible. She was never in a rush and always gave us her undivided attention. Thank you Dr. Van Steyn! We appreciate what you did for Connor!
