I’ve been a patient of Dr. Stiles for about 10 years. He’s really a wonderful, very knowledgeable, caring, doctor who has helped me so much in times of need & pain. He’s an expert in his field and knows his stuff! Great bedside manner always. I can’t recommend him enough.

Dr Stiles is incredible! I saw him 14 years ago for several TMJ. I had surgery and I haven’t had a problem until last month. I got an appointment very quickly. As always Dr Stiles took his time and explained everything I needed to know. GREAT DOCTOR!!!

I have burning mouth syndrome & it is very painful. It took me years to find Dr. Stiles who has helped me greatly. However in the past year I have had phone visits scheduled to check in with him. Today was one of my phone appointment days and just as most appointment days he NEVER CALLED ME. I talk to his Bryn Mawr staff each time he stands me up which is EVERY TIME WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. He does prescribe medication that is very helpful to me. It took me so long to find him that my inclination to drop him keeps me staying with him. I don’t know what his problem is & it’s taken me many missed appointment to go to healthgrades. He is totally unreliable to me.

Dr. Stiles is an expert in his field and there aren't a lot of doctors who treat the very specific illnesses he's treating (like trigeminal neuralgia). The people complaining about not being able to see or speak with him need to realize that he's in extremely high demand and his schedule has no breathing room. He's not like your Primary Care Physician and probably can't return all calls. Getting an appointment with him is very difficult because he's well worth it and he knows what he's doing. He literally saved my life back in 2015 from the extreme agony that came with my Trigeminal Neuralgia pain. I owe him my life. It's making me sad that people are giving him low ratings because they think the world revolves around them. It doesn't. He's an ultra specialist and patients need to understand that his time is limited. If you want someone who will return your calls on demand, go to a regular oral surgeon, not Dr. Stiles, a doctor who is literally sought after on the East Coast for his expertise in the matter. Worst doctor ever. Was under his care. Had extreme pain for 4 days messages and called his office 8 times. Never heard back. Had to go to ERand was admitted. Ever doctor said they never heard of something so absurd. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to him.

He missed my second appointment which was telehealth. I called the office and they sent him 3 messages throughout the day. No response the day of the visit or the next day. Very disappointing and scary since he deals with pain medication and people who are looking for help and relief.

The dr wasn’t in the office when I showed up for my appointment. The office converted my appointment into a tele health visit without notifying me of the change I drove an hour for the office appointment only to drive back home without being seen. No prior communication of any kind. Very disappointed.

He's very personable and took over my botox shots for migraines from neurology because her knows more about doing them for TMJD than the neurology dept does. He's also taken over my migraine meds and now also my TMJD meds from my jaw surgeon, who is pretty useless. He really cares about me and my conditions and gives me the time i need to feel he's addressed my concerns and answered my highly researched questions. Went to see Dr. for a problem I am having with jaw. Dr. stated does not know what the problem is. Ordered a cat scan and was supposed to call me with approval. Called his office several times and I have yet to receive a call back.

Great doctor when seen in person; however, he does not return phone calls. His lack of response to a multitude of messages has left my mother in debilitating pain.

i've had the same experience as Karrie below. I've been trying to get in touch with Dr Stiles since early February regarding major pain I'm having in my jaw and concerns about the mouth guard he made for me. I've sent multiple messages to him and Jefferson customer service to no response and I can't get through to the office. Every time I call I'm on hold for 20+ minutes before I hang up. Due to surgical accident , a cut that destroyed the mental nerve and admitted to by the surgeon (malpractice) in 2004. I have three types of chronic facial pain. I am also a patient at the headache clinic which is excellent. Alan Stiles, DMD was referred to me by PENN oral maxillofacial surgery. My case is complicated even penn pain misdiagnosed me. Dr. Stiles is revered by many neurologists in Philadelphia for groundbreaking work with botox treatments for migraines. Personality for days and empathy for those of us who need the very best medical care. My only complaint is that Jefferson oral needs to clone him. I really struggle to reach him in an emergency. Dr. Stiles is an attentive listener and adviser. I felt totally comfortable in his presence and I appreciate the information he gave me.

Dr Stiles is a very caring, warm and friendly doctor and he came to me highly recommended by a doctor from another hospital who had been treating my medical condition, and allowing Dr Stiles to become my doctor was one of the greatest decisions I could have ever made. Dr Stiles is a very smart and informative doctor when it comes to my medical condition and I like the way he involves me and respect what I say about my medication dosages to better pain relieving solutions. Dr Marlin Stiles just keeps impressing me because I just found out he also is involved with the Sleep Apnea Department, Studies and C-Pap Mask designs and that made me very happy to know because he is some one I know and trust with my health and well being. I feel that doctor Marlin Stiles is a phenomenal doctor and great as a person and I want to thank him for being another one of the great doctors on my team of doctors at Jefferson Hospital.

Dr. Stiles is fabulous. He is so attentive and an expert in his field. His bedside manner is professional but warm and honest. You will feel so comfortable as both a patient and person in his care. I feel so blessed that I found him.

Phenomenal! After being told I had to have a major jaw joint replaced by a top Philadelphia hospital, I went to Dr.Stiles for a second opinion. Not only have I been able to avoid surgery of any kind, I am also pain free and resuming a normal life.

Dr. Stiles is personable, knowledgeable and spends enough time with his patients. He however lacks compassion for his patients pain. He does try lots of different pharmacologs to find something that works. But beyond writing prescriptions he doesn’t search for other solutions. He says there are no soutions, it’s medication management. In four years he never examined me or ran diagnostics to confirm a diagnosis. He is not accessible unless you have an appointment.

My husband saw Dr. Stiles today for the first time, and we could not have been more impressed! He was EXTREMELY helpful, spent a great deal of time with us, almost as if we were the only patient he was seeing that day. He was knowledgeable, eager to help, and really listened to what we had to say. I have to say, this is the first time in a very long time that a doctor made us feel like patients and not just a number. I would recommend anyone with any type of migraine, sinus issue, TMJ, eye pain, ear pain, etc. to see Dr. Stiles. Completely and utterly thrilled to have had this opportunity. Dr. Stiles' diagnosis saved me from insanity. I had been struggling with severe pain after several failed tooth procedures, and was likely suffering from Trigeminal Neuropathic Pain (as opposed to full-fledged Trigeminal Neuralgia). He diagnosed me with Aypical Facial Pain and prescribed me Nortriptyline, which along with the Tegretol that my neurologist prescription, has effectively cured me. My pain is all but gone, and my prognosis looks good. He is very kind, knowledgeable, and patient.
