I echo the negative experience of the other reviewer. I found this dr to be overall unpleasant and seemed annoyed from the get go. he shows zero compassion or humanity.

Now that some time has passed since I parted ways with Mr. Hrymoc, I can look back objectively at my several months under his "care". I stumbled upon his "services" after tapering 18 months myself on the Ashton Manual system, down from 15 to 1mg of Valium (taken originally for anxiety caused by extreme Tinnitus), which I absolutely could not get off, under the assumption he could help me. Mr. Hrymoc, in a dispassionate, dismissive manner (i.e. told me at one point to 'Buck up!') seemed oddly annoyed from the start. I'm not exactly sure why. Too inconsequential an amount of Benzo to deal with, even for a 65-year-old, medicine sensitive man? Just flat out incapable of mustering compassion or adhering to the Dr's care oath? Not sure. My wife and I, pretty good at reading people, never could put a finger on him. After all, I dutifully paid his $$$$$ price (no insurance) for brief office visits in his Century City tower office, and the occasional 30 minute phone conversations that somehow always seemed to end at 25. One day, a non-degreed person, listening to my struggle, stated matter-of-factly: "Maybe you can't metabolize Valium very well." METABOLIZE? Hmm...a word Mr H had never used. "Try GENESITE," my common sense genius acquaintance said. "It'll tell you what psychotropic drugs you can handle." So I did, and guess what? Bingo! According to G.Site's results, I was a slow metabolizer of a drug that, in the end, had been ACCUMULATING in my system rather than dissipating via taper. I was suffering the SIDE EFFECTS of the vicious V rather than the taper effects - same difference, though in spades! It was all quickly validated by a new, Dr., a true medical "expert" in Mr. Hryrmoc's same field. He switched me to the Benzo that GENESITE had shown I could normally process and I was good to go. Taper now nearly completed and smooth too, which it never was before, another issue Mr. Hrymoc addressed with Propranolol, WHICH I NEVER EVEN FELT BECAUSE I WAS A TOO FAST METABOLIZER of it. (GENESITE again.) CONCLUSION/ADVICE to future patients: Go to GENESITE, get swabbed, get your print out, arm yourself with it before you enlist the "experts" for the meds you need tapering or not. Avoid Mr. Hrymoc's "services". ADVICE for Mr. Hrymoc - maybe hit the books again, stay current, study, care, learn new (old) critical terms, stuff like M-E-T-A-B-O-L-I-Z-E? How about nuance the patient's treatment, and oh...what would you think about dropping the "JUST BUCK UP!" thing? (Try tapering yourself on the meds you prescribe?) It's really not very becoming, nor appreciated by those of us suffering the spoils of med issues, not to mention paying your rent. Now that some time has passed since I parted ways with Mr. Hrymoc, I can look back objectively at my several months under his "care". I stumbled upon his "services" after tapering 18 months myself on the Ashton Manual system, down from 15 … More

I have been a patient of Dr Hrymoc for over 10 years, and like many others share great enthusiasm for him. He is a caring doctor who applies practical and meaningful solutions to my life problems, instead of just using medications and talk. Dr. Hrymoc will delve into the roots of all problems that affect my personal balance and provide healthy ways to beat them. So far he has helped me overcome a sleeping disorder, tobacco addiction, and personal stress among others!! I will always use Dr Hrymoc and recommend him. I have been a patient of Dr. Hrymoc for almost 10 years and he is exceptional. He is highly respected in the mental health community and I have never had anything other than the most professional and helpful treatment. He is very honest, direct and straightforward which is what I want from my psychiatrist. The reviews that say he is unpleasant and has zero compassion or humanity is flat out not true are not what I have experienced for 10 years. Dr. Hrymoc has always responded to me quickly if I was having a breakdown and needed immediate help. His office is not in a "Century City" tower, but in one of the medical buildings in the Cedar's Sinai Hospital. I pay him directly and I receive a super bill to send to my insurance for reimbursement which is what 90% of psychiatrists and therapists do as well as many other medical doctors. For the people who gave negative reviews I hope you have found help, but my experience and Dr Hrymoc's reputation in Los Angeles has been and is the best. I have worked with quite a few psychiatrists at this point and Dr. Hrymoc is by far my favorite. I have been seeing him for a little more than a year now and I can say that he is polite, honest/straight forward, a good listener and knows what he's talking about. Also, I have had other psychiatrists that take weeks to get in to see them (God forbid you need to re-schedule or something bad is happening with your meds). On the other hand I have been able to see Dr. Hrymoc within 5 days or less of re-scheduling pretty much every time! He is one of the best for sure! :) I have worked with quite a few psychiatrists at this point and Dr. Hrymoc is by far my favorite. I was looking for a doctor for months. So many won't even take your call to see if they can help. And when they do it seems they are full. When I called Dr. Hrymoc he had time, I saw him within a few days and in a matter of a few more days I got significant relief for the conditions I was being treated for. The appts. always run on-time, I never feel rushed and it is a pleasant environment. All that is a bonus to the expert medical supervision of my titration off of long-term use of narcotics for pain.
