Reviews for Mark S Gorovoy
Made appointment with Dr. Gorovoy for corneal transplant for Fuchs Dystrophy. Recommended to me by my local ophthalmologist. Two hour drive. Large waiting rooms filled with clients. As a new client I had a lot of paper work to fill in. After that I was seen by technicians to measure and test my eyes. Very efficient and pleasant staff. Maybe waited 20 minutes and then was seen by Dr. Gorovoy. He was very focused and thorough as he reviewed my issues. He answered my questions without hesitation and explained my treatment options. After scheduling surgery, I felt profoundly relieved to have put the care of my eyes into his hands.
Arrogant best describes this practice which is run not in the best interests of the patients but rather at the convience of the grumpy doctor and her grumpy staff. Money is the prime motivator here, not patient care.
Appt at 1, was not seen till after 4pm. Absolutely absurd!
Everything went fine (except wait) until checkout. I was told I owed $75 to have a prescription written for my eyes. I explained how I told the assistant I didnât want it done because I didnât wanna afford it. She took my insurance cards and came back and said it wouldnât cost anything. The worst thing was the desk actually wanted the prescription back! Couldnât believe it! Canât fix stupid!
I am a patient of Dr. Gorovoy and have always received excellent care and remarkable results from my cataract surgery despite having Fuch's Dystrophy. That said, Dr. Gorovoy recently restored our daughter's eyesight to a level she has not experienced in many years. He is a consummate professional keeping his patient's best interest always in the forefront. Yes, his office is busy, yes, there are long wait times, etc. but that said if you regain your eyesight then.... sit and wait. Dr. Gorovoy is the best of the best. I had trabeculectomy glaucoma surgery first, then cataract surgery. Doctor Gorovoy was nice enough to fit me in for both glaucoma surgeries before I left for up north. They were pretty involved, I’ve had glaucoma for 35 years, with previous laser surgeries. I was on 4 drops a day in each eye. My pressure was rising to high twenties. I had done nerve damage already. After surgery my pressure went down to 10. I was thrilled. I got delayed returning south so that by the time I did, I was legally blind from cataracts. Once again, Doctor Gorovoy fit me in within a month for both surgeries. Now my vision is near perfect, and I am convinced the world never looked this beautiful to me before. I am so grateful, and this was such a gift to me. The condition of my eyes made it such that I searched for a very skilled doctor who had done many complicated surgeries. I did my homework and got lots of references. I don’t think there is a doctor around who could have done a better job. I had trabeculectomy glaucoma surgery first, then cataract surgery. While Dr. Gorovoy is a great surgeon, his office staff sucks. Was referred back by our current family eye doctor to have a lens lasered to remove the buildup (previous cataract surgery that he performed) . His office called to schedule what we thought was the procedure, even asked about if able to drive after the procedure & was told yes. Nothing mentioned needing them to also do an exam, about a million hoops to jump through, or becuase we don't use his practice for regular eye exams that after 3 years they delete you from their system and you're considered a new patient. Not a single word about any of that. Matter of fact, lead us to believe the procedure was scheduled. Had an appointment, the time changed 3 times. Was told to be there early, & sat in the lobby for 90 minutes to walk out and wasted vacation time. Poor communication which proper communication is critical with any health care provider. I'd suggest finding another practice that actually has their act together.
I went in to get a new prescription for my glasses and within 12 hours had an eye infection which left me blind in one eye. The shot I received was for macular degeneration which is almost always performed by a retina specialist but for some reason he felt this urgency to do it himself and within 12 hours I had an infection which took my vision away and cannot ever be repaired. Over the next month I have never heard from him it is cost me a great deal learning to be blind in one eye. The sanitary conditions in that practice leave a lot to be desired as some nurses who give you drops do not wear gloves and Dr Gorovoy seems to wear one pair of gloves going from room to room touching charts equipment and the sanitary conditions don’t seem to follow guidelines whatsoever. I regret seeing him I will never forgive him for not explaining what macular degeneration is and rushing to give me a shot when it wasn’t an emergency and taking my vision away.
Went in to get a new prescription and in 12 hours I became blind in one eye. The office leaves so much to be desired as far as sanitary conditions and practices. Dr Gorovoy walks in wearing a pair of gloves and proceeds to touch your chart machines and then gives you a shot and you get an infection in your eye that leaves you blind he never called to see how I was doing I guess that shows you the type of man he is.

Terrible! Cleks are rude. Specially a white old lady, that shouldn’t be working. They take forever with the excuse of being understaffed. They have a Covid policy that doesn’t make sense. They put stuff in peoples eyes and they have to leave on their own because they won’t allow anyone with them. Go somewhere else!!!!!! They just care about the money. Terrible! Cleks are rude. He covered up for Dr Robin's the anesthesiologist he employed. When he administered an injection in the side of my eye he puctured the macular and when Dr Gorovoy came in to do the surgery I heard him say.... you pushed the whole eveball to the side. Dr Robbins replied alot of eye fluid came out....Dr Gorovoy then replied....I have to do the surgery to repair the eye or he will lose it...However the next day the patch came off and I was Blind from that day on..... in his notes he did not conclude that all the fluid that came out lowered the pressure to a dangerous level zero and then the pressure increased to 39 which caused the retina to detach. Dr Robbins claimed I coughed and the needle puctured the macular He sent me to a retina specialist who also used Dr Gorovoys surgery center and one of the nurses who assisted in the surgery said that it didn't happen that I never coughed...Now I function the best I Can with vision in one eye only... THANKS DR GOROVOY FOR NOT BEING HONEST.
No recommendations from me. After meeting him for the first time last August 2020, and waiting over an hour past my appointment time, upon leaving, his receptionist set up a follow-up appointment for one year. On Friday August 13th 2021, late afternoon, I received my first reminder that I have an appt. that Monday, the 16th of August (Appt. made one year ago) His office was already closed Friday for me to cancel or reschedule. By that Thursday, just 3 days after missing the appointment I received a bill for a "No Show". In today's time of Covid, and with the new variant being spread so easily in our area, one would think a reminder might be sent a week in advance (especially for appointments made a year in advance). I was exposed to Covid on Saturday August 14th, 2020, and took a test, which takes 2-4 days to get results from. I will pay this bill, but will certainly not see DR. GOROVOY AGAIN.

Best Doctor EVER! He and his staff are excellent in caring for all patients. The front desk is very friendly and accommodating. I've never experienced anyone rude or nasty within this office. Dr. Gorovoy is the best in his field. I always feel safe with my eye care needs! I've had 2 Dmek surgeries and experienced the worst viral pink eye ever! He is again excellent in all of my eye care needs. Well worth the almost 4 hour drive to his office. Thank you to you and your office for excellent care! Best Doctor EVER! I had 4 cataract surgeries and 2 laser appointments. My first lens cost $10000. They were multifocal and was not enough explanation or patient interaction in choosing the lens. I could not see to drive for 3 months after those surgeries. The halos and light sensitivity was intense. I was given a $1000 return and had 2 different lens implanted. He said let me choose. Well my script in each eye is different and my close reading script is different with each lens so i can only read for a short time. I also still need glasses for driving and reading. My pressure after each surgery was very elevated and I was in a lot of pain, but still had to wait 3 hours for them to just install drops to reduce the pressure. It is a factory in the waiting room and not pleasant. I believe that if I had gone elsewhere I would be able to see better for what time I have left. And I paid a lot for a mistaken choice.
I have been a patient since 2010 & didnt get services I was rendered & they are charging me & sending my account to collections & wont schedule another appt until that is payed. I went back 5 times for a hard contact lenses that their tech couldnt figure out how to fit me so I told them to forget about it I dont want them anymore & they are still charging me. On top of that their office screwed up 1 of the times & I had to take off work & wasted 4 hours of my day because they ordered the wrong hard contacts & are still charging me for the fitting. What a joke
I would highly recommend Dr Gorovoy for any eye treatment or examination and consulting. I am a snowbird and have been unable to get satisfaction from doctors up north. I needed cataract surgery and was not getting good care in that regard from northern doctors when I met Dr Gorovoy who had the best examination process and equipment and staff that I ever experienced. And he immediately gave me confidence that he could make a substantial difference in my vision. And, he did just that!
I hate to even give him one star because he deserves none. Worst “bedside” manner ever!!! After waiting, every appt, at least 3 hours, you’re lucky to get maybe 5 minutes of his time and then stands up to leave. If you have questions, he stands in doorway to answer because he’s in such a hurry to get out the door. The last straw for me was when I took my Mom for office surgery for a sty that wouldn’t go away. Obviously, she was nervous. As she lay on the table, he walks in, no hello, how are you today, so what are we doing here today, nothing. Just picks up surgical tools and digs right in. My mother was so startled, and he was so rough with her. When finished, got up and walked out. I will never let either of my parents be seen by him again. He is rude and dismissive.

I give it 2 stars because the front desk lady is very rude she has glasses and I’m guessing she’s Hispanic, she’s mean, she needs to take some classes about knowing how to treat patients, she’s on the right side when you get out of the elevator in the front desk. This makes patients not feel good, or comfortable when you go in, she makes the visit feel very uncomfortable. Very nasty lady. Greatest cornea specialist ever. Be ready to wait. Some of his desk personnel could be friendlier.
best doctor and office staff i've ever been to .i had two surgeries with dr. gorovoy . i could not be happier with the results. very professional .
I am new to Florida as of 8/2019... Fortunate to find Dr Mark Gorovoy for a cataract surgery and most importantly a surgery / procedure to correct a problem I have affecting corneal cells ( Fuchs Dystrophy) . Where I had lived previously this was not available as an option .. Since here have found that Dr. Gorovoy is an expert at and pioneered the procedure that involved the corneal issue I have . Am so grateful.. the recovery went well and my vision is great .. Super job !
Excellent service. Had one cataract replaced with multi focal lense and had excellent results, 20/20 vision in that eye now. Am going in for second eye this Thursday. Everyone is extremely friendly in both offices. I believe he is a very fine doctor who is very serious about his work.
even when I had the first appointment of the day I was there for three hours never less . you're seen by several staff members before you get to see the doctor who spends about 5 minutes with you

Dr. Mark Gorovoy repaired my eye after a totally botched operation by a doctor working for Frantz Eye-care, i suggest you stay far away from those people. Instead of losing sight in my left eye, Dr. Mark developed a procedure which returned my vision to normal. The damage to the retina was not repairable, but recovering 90% of my vision was amazing given the overall damage inflicted by a fellow who should be cutting grass for a living. This is just another testament to why Dr. Mark is the GO TO guy when it comes to eye surgery. Thank you!! P.S. Don't know who this fellow Frank Hann is that did the review just prior to mine, sounds more like a plant from a jealous competitor. Totally out of the normal experience for Dr. Gorovoy. Wait was a little long but I have found that with most doctors these days. I went to him for follow up on DMEK surgery and was pleased with the experience. Staff was efficient and so was doctor. Having been seen by many eye specialist over the years with my glaucoma, dry eye, cataracts, etc., I would definitely reccomend him. Would have liked a little more info such as cell count after the test but I forgot to ask.
He may be a very good doctor, but his policy’s are not good. Can’t get an appointment in a timely manner. Did my cataract surgery in 2015 and now having problems (blurred vision) and can’t get an appointment for four month as I have to start over as a new patient. If you go there you better be prepared to spend the whole day as your usually seen two hours later than appointment time.
Unpleasant experience. My appointment was at 3:30. At 4:00 I was excourted to an eye monitor set up in the hallway. After a brief (60 seconds or less) look into this monitor I was escorted to an exam room were a technician spent about 5 minutes examining my eyes. The balance of the 35 minuted with the technician was her talking about how their office spent alot of time correcting issues other eye surgeons had caused to some of their clients. The technician also left me in the examination room no less than 4 times to 'attend to a needy patient'. After that, I was escorted to another waiting area for about 30 minutes. Again, another technician escorted me to a room were several pictures of my eyes were taken and then it was off to finally see Dr. Gorovoy. After a brief visit with him he started what appeared to be an upscale of different lenses available for what I thought was going to be a normal cataract lense replacement. He even made the comment "this is a brain dead decision" referring to an upgraded lense costing an addition $4000.00. normal lense replacement. I felt somewhat intimidated by this statment. During my time with Dr. Gorovoy I was escorted back to the picture taking machine twice because the original pictures were not saved in their system. Each time I was escorted back to see Dr. Gorovoy, the rooms had been powered down for the evening and eventually I shared the only exam room with another patient. I finally left the office at 5:45. When I left the office staff had changed into their street cloths and we're waiting in the hallway for me to leave. I schedule the surgery anyway. During my pre-op appointment an office staffer had me sign numerous release documents and then started offering me additional procedures never mentioned during my initial office appointment. None of which I had any idea of. I thought this rather strange coming from someone who did not even appear to be a technician. This person also made the comment that my cataract surgery might not be successful without these additional test. At that point I canceled the cataract surgery with Dr. Gorovoy and had my cataract surgery preformed by an office that appeared to be more concerned with my eye sight. Dr. Gorovoy might be a decent eye surgeon but I did not get that impression from him or his office staff. Unpleasant experience. My appointment was at 3:30. Love Dr. Gorovoy! He diagnosed my Fuchs Dystrophy and gave me my sight back!????????????
Dr.Gorovoy and his staff is one of the most polite and èfficient office I hAve been to.Thank you Dr Gorovoy for the gift of sight.
He fixed my cataract in the only eye I have vision in and it was successful. Thank you Dr Gorovoy!
Everyone was very professional, knowledgeable and very kind! Met Dr. Gorovoy for the first time and have every confidence in him.
The staff and doctor were very patient and thorough an explaining exam and results. I would highly recommend this office for all eye problems and basic requirements.
I have experienced wonderful care from Dr Gorovoy and his staff. Recently had surgery by Dr Gorovoy and the patience and professionalism by the staff was excellent. The office staff responds to all inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Today's visit was primarily a pre op session where Mr. Jack Stepp seamlessly and with great skill reviewed the surgery and available surgical options available to my particular medical issues. This discussion was thorough allowing, even encouraging, my questions. The tests that followed were identified, completed and again, allowed my participation. Mr. Stepp was always cognizant to ensure I understood relevance of test results. As a first time pre op patient, I left the office completely briefed on every aspect of the upcoming surgeries. Dr Gorovoy, during this appointment also gave me a macular injection. His reputation in this field is acknowledged world wide. Injections can be intimidating but not with this Doctor in charge! There has been a great improvement in reducing wait time in the office. All attendants were friendly. Dr Gorovoy is excellent in evaluating the eye problems I have.
Dr Gorovoy corrected a mishap, to my cornea, from another doctor in the 90's. I have the utmost respect and confidence in him. Recently he took care of my cataract's and replaced the lens in both of my eyes. I'm now enjoying my new vision, thank you Dr Gorovoy!
First time patient and was very impressed with the friendly staff and clean office. I am a contact wearer and Dr. Gorovoy spent a lot of time with me explaining the different options to keep my eyes healthy. Will continue to go back on a yearly basis.
Always enjoy seeing Dr. Gorovoy. He is a brilliant eye Dr. I never have to wait too long and the staff is amazing. This is one Dr visit I don’t mind going to. If your not a patient of his you need to switch doctors..
Very good appointment. Well run operation. Knowledgeable staff. Adminittance a little light. I filled out a lot of paper handed to young lady. 15 min later they could not find my list of meds.
I couldn’t be any more satisfied. I’ve already recommended you to family.

I was impressed with meeting him and he was easy to understand my Cateract situation. I have scheduled My first surgery in several weeks and For sure I will recommend him to My friends. He had removed both Cateracts from my husband two years ago and all went well.
Dr. Gorovoy exudes competence, professionalism, experience, and calmness. The Gorovoy Eye Center is a beautiful, state-of-the art facility that operates like a well-oiled machine. The staff are personable and professional as well. I was so impressed, having driven from across the state based on Dr. Gorovoy’s reputation, that when I am ready for surgery, I will return to Dr. Gorovoy’s care.
Very thorough. Answered my questions. Very professional.
my appt. was scdeduled @10:30am. - I finally left 2 hrs. later! Jen was the doctor's assistant who prepared me for Dr. Gorovoy; I want to request her when I return. very professional and personal at same time. Dr. Mark Gorovoy was friendly and positive attitude with my corneal transplants..cell count done showed a magnitude of cells,...yea! Happy Holidays...see you next year!
Dr Gorovoy did work on both of my eyes. I now see very well. I just completed my semi annual check up and everything looks great. I was very impressed that the wait time to complete the check up was half the wait as previous office visit. Good Job!
I’m so happy I choose Dr Gorovoy for my surgery. This was a tough decision to go forward with this eye surgery because you anticipate the worst. But I’m so happy and satisfied with the whole experience. The staff is very good too. I’m very fortunate to have found them. It was well worth the trip.

This doctor supposedly is an excellent eye surgeon. Since my surgery I cannot see out of either eye. His office is a factory. Too many patients. He has no bed side manner and can't wait to get out the door. His female assistant is abrasive and argumentative. A few caring people, like "Mark" but basically not a comforting place. I am now seeing another doctor to fix my eyes. That's my story. Iconcerns I had after my unsuccessful surgery. His right hand female assistant is very ab

Answered all my questions. Thorough in reviewing tests. Results of surgery exceeded my expectations. Best treatment possible for Fuchs Dystrophy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I am very excited to have the other eye done.
Across the board poor experience: First and foremost, I felt the indifference of Dr. Gorovoy was a major turnoff. He spent five minutes with me (I looked at my watch), said I needed cataract surgery and when I asked a simple question he suggested I read the brochures his office offered. Zero bedside manner, not a bit of a reassuring smile or a snippet of conversation, and then he and his assistant were out the door. The bill was a huge surprise and the insurance person was adamant and rude.

Totally unhappy with my experience with Dr. Gorovoy. No one I have talked to has had the bad experience that I had. Eye sight worse. My fault, the dr. and nurse say, cause I chose the wrong package!!! The office needs to take time with patients to discuss all the possibilities for cataract surgery. I was sent brochures! Dr. never took time to discuss my needs for lenses. Techs and nurses do everything. I didn't even seen the Dr. the day of surgery! Charges extra money for tests! not hapy
