I have read great things about this Dr. I wish I could give a personal testimony to his wonderful level of care. I had a severe allergic reaction to something and was referred to Dr Ellis and his partners for testing since the reaction was affecting my quality of life and my primary Dr. was very concerned. Unfortunately, when I went to make an appointment, the person I spoke with was not helpful or compassionate. She was more interested in making sure they would get paid than she was about my need for care. She was great right up until I gave her my insurance carrier’s name. She didn’t recognize the name, and kept telling me she had never heard of it and that I should make sure their practice is in my plan coverage. She explained that the tests I needed were VERY expensive and that she didn’t want to me to come in for them until I knew the test were covered by insurance. In the end, because she didn’t recognize the insurance, she refused to schedule the appointment. She told me to confirm they were in network and get back to her in order to schedule. First of all, whether I had the appropriate insurance coverage or not doesn’t lessen my need for care. Thank you for proving that you care more about money than patient well being. Secondly, don’t assume you know my financial capabilities. Who are you to decide what I can and can’t afford?!?! Thank you for judging me and putting me in a box after 5 minutes of phone conversation. Very professional and compassionate. Finally, just because you haven’t heard of a specific company, does not mean the visit will go unpaid or is not covered. Even if it was out of network, isn’t that my problem? Again, more concerned with getting paid than taking care of someone who needed help. For your information, St Joseph’s and your practice are in my network and I did confirm the tests would be covered. Even if they weren’t, I would still have paid for my care. The cost wasn’t my concern, and I feel it shouldn’t have been her primary concern either. My allergic reaction that prevented me from caring for my children and going to work for a week was my main concern. I hope the reception and office support is not indicative of the care the doctors provide. If it is, patients be aware. As it is, you’d better hope they can confirm they will be paid if you need help. Otherwise, you’re out of luck. The impression this experience left me with is that the doctors are in practice to make money more than to help people. If that is not an accurate assessment, I would advise some training in compassion and priorities for the front end staff. Dr. Ellis is a kind, thoughtful, helpful person that genuinely cares to listen and give possible options afterwards. My daughters have been with him for the past three years and we couldn’t be happier. The last thing a parent wants is to have a problem with their child and run into a grumpy Dr that doesn’t take the time to listen to your concerns. I’m so grateful for Dr Ellis and his team. Dr. Mark Ellis, is one of the best Pediatric Palmonologist/Allergist we have seen for our son. Dr. Ellis is always here for us and our son, Zach. Dr. Mark Ellis has been an amazing Physician and a great listner to our son's needs. Our son has severe allergy to dairy, he is anaphlaxis and Dr. Ellis has educated us in depth. We are grateful to Dr. Ellis and to his professional and caring staff. I don't feel bad if I have to wait a little longer, because they care so much, and they give extra care to everyone. Very smart, great people skills. Has been extremely helpful to our whole family over many years. Gives his patients a lot of time and consideration. Office staff is a mix of longtime dedicated people and a few new ones who are a bit less warm and friendly. Overall experience and care has been excellent.

I had called 10 local allergists regarding rush venom therapy for bee stings. Their office staffs either told me their doctors didn't do it or they didn't know what I was talking about. Finally I got hold of one allergist who told me she didn't do it, but she recommended Dr. Ellis, because he was really great and handled more unusual treatments. I called his office. The staff was knowledgeable and scheduled my appointment. Dr. Ellis evaluated me and will be doing the rush therapy.

My son gets an incessant cough periodically. Dr Ellis said he had asthma and colds, or intense exercise will trigger it. He did a skin test and milk was an allergy. He gave us 4 prescriptions- Qvar, Zyrtec, Flonase & one more inhaler. We did none, just cut out the milk and his major cough went away. My son coughs when he eats carbs also but the Dr doesn't recognize or understand this-just says he has asthma. He needs more education and read the GAPS diet. Skin test good- but drug pusher
