About Dr. Mark M Casillas
Reviews for Dr. Mark M Casillas
Dr. Casillas was recommended to me as an excellent ankle specialist. He is an excellent doctor who has relieved my pain and I will continue to use him going forward.
Dr. Mark Casillas is one of the finest orthopedic surgeons I’ve ever known, and I’ve been a patient of many. In addition to his talents as a skilled surgeon, Dr. Casillas is driven to practice medicine by an internal desire to help heal and treat patients by listening to their challenges and concerns, to accurately diagnose health challenges, and further to develop individualized treatment plans to address wellness and a return to active function. I’m blessed to be one of his patients and get to enjoy my own return to function!

Thank you Dr. Casillas, you are a great help. Explained everything throughly to get ready for surgery and still stopped by my room to check if I was ready! 100% Recommended!
Everything about Dr Casillas, his staff and offices were amazing. Everyone was personable and Dr Casillas took his time to explain everything and really showed he cares.
I’ve been going to Dr. Casillas for over a year now in preparation for a Total Joint Ankle Replacement. He and his staff have been very supportive and have made me feel comfortable in choosing him for this surgery. Actually, I would not consider another surgeon knowing that Dr. Casillas is one of the few pioneers of this procedure. This is a procedure that you don’t want to have just any ordinary Orthopedic Surgeon perform. He is a Diplomat and when you’ve had as many surgeries as I have, knowing you’re having the Best of the Best perform this gives me the confidence I need to get thru this life changing experience. Respectfully, Russell J Lawrence R. J . Lawrence Co.
Dr. Casillas was very attentive and listened to my concerns. He seemed to think long and hard about the course of treatment and even brought in his partner to consult with. I am confident that I am in good hands. The only downside is that the soonest he could schedule surgery is 7 weeks out.

Dr Casillas!!! Beyond exceptional Doctor!!
Very good the people from the front office all the way to the people in the back were great.
Great dr and very helpful with helping me daughter heal right from her leg.
I would like to thank Dr. Casillas for the exceptional care and guidance. He has gone above and beyond to make sure I was seen urgently, my injuries were throughly reviewed, and that I fully understood the magnitude of the surgery and recovery expectations. Not only his professionalism and reputation, but also his international experience is impressive.
I found Dr Casillas to be an excellent Dr and surgeon along with all his staff. I’ve had several friends whom he has treated as well and we are all back to playing golf with no pain after hardwear removal, ankle replacement surgery and broken ankles. I imagine the reason it takes so long for an appt is that he is in high demand. I would rather wait for an appointment with the very best Dr than settle for second best because I can be seen immediately. He is definitely worth the wait. Just finished second surgery with him and very pleased.

Dr. Casillas was very thorough and took the time to examine my Achilles tendon as no podiatrist had done. I appreciate his honesty and thoughtfulness during my appointment with him. I will recommend Dr. Casillas to everyone!

I waited three months for an appt. I waited three hours to see this Dr. Casillas. I walked out. My own son is a Harvard physician. It’s completely unprofessional and disrespectful to patients to run a practice like this. I never even met this Dr. Casillas. You could not pay me enough to ever enter that office again. Complete waste of my time. I don’t care if he has HANDS OF GOLD FROM GOD, this is no way to treat patients. Completely unacceptable. I waited three months for an appt. Professional! More importantly Dr. Casillas offered alternative treatment possibilities.
Great MD ... knowledgeable with great bedside care!
Dr Casillas was very knowledgeable, taking his time in reviewing treatment options and reviewing my x-rays with me. I felt very at ease with him, and walked away feeling very good about our treatment plan.
Dr. Casillas is the most amazing surgeon that I’ve ever met. I have worked for my entire 40+ year career in the health care field, but I have never met a physician who is more caring, skilled, or conscientious than Dr. Casillas. I travel across the entire state of Texas just to see him. He has done more to get me walking pain free than any other doctor. I can’t express what a blessing he has been! I waited three months for an appt. I waited three hours to see Dr. Casillas. I gave up. Never saw him. I won’t be back. Disrespectful to patients to make them wait so long. I am still giving this place a 1 Star!! I only saw Dr.Casillas 1 time! And his PA Cleared me to walk prematurely causing me weeks of continued recovery! To go from cast to walking was done Way too Early after Surgery on my Foot!! Do Not Trust this place!! They Do Not Care!!

The BEST ORTHOPEDEIC DOCTOR !!!!! Takes the time to explain in detail what is needed for your care. Highly recommend
Though my last appt was 15 years ago, i have to say Dr Casillas is by far the best foot surgeon around. My foot is great. Unfortunately i moved to Florida. Two surgeries later on the other foot and it is not right. Im ready to move back to Texas.
Front office staff are extremely rude, argumentative, and dismissive. It was like speaking to a rock. They're more concerned about their opinions than the patient's needs. In sum, RUDE. I wonder if the doctor ever reads the feedback about how unprofessional his staff is and how this reflects on him. It might do some good to review and develop his staff to preserve his professional image. They're doing a lot of damage. Front office staff are extremely rude, argumentative, and dismissive. We had a horrible experience at Dr. Casilla's office. My son had a grade 3 sprain which was misdiagnosed by the first doctor, who said it was surgical. The second doctor sent us to physical therapy and asked to see us in two weeks for a follow up. On the follow up visit we waited over 2 hours to see the doctor, who we could hear in the next room talking casually to a friend. I drove from Elgin Texas to San Antonio to see Dr. Mark Casillas because I had heard he was the best and I truly believe he is. The first ankle Dr. I saw told me there was nothing he could do for me my ankle was past the point of repair, so then I went and saw A Doctor who was supposed to be the best in Central Texas and he really didn’t want to work on it because he said it was going be a really difficult surgery, when I went to see Dr. Casillas he had no problem with taking care of my problem and I will say all is well thank you Dr. Casillas. Excellent service! Time is given to you to share your concerns, and procedures/ surgery indicated are fully explained. I did have to wait 3 weeks to get an appointment and now 3 weeks for surgery, but it is not an emergency and we are in the middle of Covid 19. I feel very confident in the care I have and will receive. I had an 8:55 am appointment and was seen within 5 minutes of that time. He is a great surgeon, I’d recommend to anyone.
Yes, I will recommend him. He was excellent and caring.
He seem a caring individual and motivated to educate me in what he though would be my best options for my case, I was expecting a typical surgeon that would not explain things to well and would just want to push for surgery but he just gave me a honest assessment, what my options are, and what he would do. He was very clear that I ask as many question that I have.
Great doctor! I came in for a second opinion and received so much attention the difference between a doctor and a great doctor is the care and attention I received. A very delightful staff that goes above and beyond care for the person as a whole.
He is one of the very few Doctors that I have been going to for years. Very professional gets down to business. Usually on time. Explains everything to me about my problem.
Had an issue with wait time, but Dr. Casillas is worth waiting for. Caring, listens, allows you the time to express your concerns and never rushes you through an appointment. My Primary Care Dr. says she wouldn’t have anyone else touch her feet. I feel the same. He did however refer me to another physician for a specific issue which allowed for a much less invasive procedure. Very grateful for both of their care.
Dr. Casillas Took his time, he was thorough, very caring. I was so impressed by his genuine concern for my injury.
I have been waiting for 2 1/2 hours to be seen. Ridiculous waiting time. And no one tells me why.
Mark might be a good doctor for some but he mistreated me. His support staff members are incompetent. He is callous in his manner does not take time to fully explain options. He walked out of the room after talking to me without giving me an opportunity to ask questions. He was unapologetic when he made me wait nearly two hours in an exam room to see him. I waited three months to get a referral for a CAT scan even though I have more than adequate insurance; all the while my condition was deteriorating. I could go on, but suffice it to say, you better be prepared for an exhausting experience with Mark Casillas. Drs. Mayo Galindo or Randall Marx are better choices. I waited for almost two hours in the waiting room and then another 30minutes in the exam room and no one! Dr. Casillas performed 2 surgeries to repair my badly injured foot. I was very impressed by his skill, and found him to be very kind and concerned about his patients.
The cavalier willingness to trivialize the one hour and 25 minutes I was literally locked up in a small room waiting to be seen by Dr, Casillas, and the megalomaniacal prioritization of earnings over the need to learn critical lessons for the future, are two of the reasons why the office manager, Michelle Fleming, schedules a very brief time between appointments, (she refused to discuss this matter with me) and the entire staff found my complaint for waiting so long past the appointment time of 3 PM, not worthy of an answer. To the above-mentioned add the snarling eagerness to pump out the most sordid of lies and deceptions. Dr. Casillas was visibly annoyed that I “would complaint about waiting past my appointment time for one hour and 25 minutes” and pointed out to me with even greater aggravation “ that I had previously refused to do physical therapy where he had suggested” . My explanation that I preferred another facility other than his “preferred” physical therapy facility named MOMENTUM, but I favored the one I was already using , was met with equal disdain,. He then pointed out in his defense that his “cases are difficult cases”, thereby suggesting that even though at 4:30 PM there were still 2 more patients that needed to be seen ahead of me, I should be happy to be seen by such a superlative doctor, regardless of scheduled appointments. Furthermore he condescended and deigned that “ he did me a favor” to “work me in”, another sordid lie regularly employed by our medical cabal to justify poor service and out of control bills. These facts are all a reminder that we still haven’t found language adequate to capture the deep saturation levels of bad faith that we are seeing in our medical cabal, where physicians earn hundreds of thousands of dollars, hospitals earn billions tax free often reinvested in hidden ventures overseas, and the pharmaceutical and insurance companies place more value on money than people’s lives. Such vulgar abusive tactics continue although, as far back as during the years 2006-2008, well over 1 million patients were the recipients of refunds or adjustments to their bills and/or complaints as part of several class action settlements. During those 2 years Hospitals alone refunded nearly $1 billion to patients who were overcharged or charged for wrong or never performed procedures. Such impertinent tactics grow unabated abusing people’s patience, endurance, and tolerance with vulgar arrogance, vulgar audacity and complete disdain for patients’ time in contrast to the value they place on their time. One of the top Docs in San Antonio. I plan on returning after many years of neglected care.
The MOST amazing care...seriously helped prevent a bk amputation. High recommended for ankle replacement, and is the BEST in the Country!!!
I was a patient about 9 years ago, best staff, best care . From my initial visit, my surgery through all my follow ups. Amazing. Thanks a million.
This office is AMAZING!!! The staff are friendly and make me feel comfortable. They are professional and extremely helpful. Every Dr. I have seen has been great. I had my Achilles repaired in March of 2018 and I am back for a wrist surgery with Dr. Rust and will update as needed.
I drove hours from the Rio Grande Valley for Dr Casillas to fix my very bad ankle, basically a complete reconstruction. Upon my first visit, he told me how he was going to perform the surgery and that’s exactly what he did.. this was 5 years ago and I’m still going strong, walking well! The office personnel were attentive and friendly. I had no problems at all and would definitely recommend him!
Excellent surgeon. Nice disposition. Needs to work on meeting scheduled appointment time. Usual weight time 1 to 1 1/2 hours behind schedule.
First time visiting, it was an all day event. Waited 3 hours with a scheduled appointment. It's been better since then. I trust him.

We waited an hour and a half (2:10-3:40p) after xrays and when we asked how much longer they said he was almost finished with a patient and that there was still one patient in front of us. That seems a bit long to me unless he is a miracle worker. Unfortunately we left and didn't find out. I can't say how the Doctor is though.
Similar to what others have said, the woman answering the phone was very rude. So I decided not to make an appointment.

Love my doctor, Dr. Mark Casillas!
First visit was good. Im reading reviews and some seem to not like to wait lol.
Dislocated my right ankle and broke it in three places, coming in for landing from a skydive. My nephew took me in to Dr. Casillas on a Monday mid afternoon, he looked at it and the xrays, and I was in surgury at 5:00 pm and went back to my nephews house at 9:00 pm with cast and the whole yards that goes with it. I have had many medical conditions and surgeries in my 61 years, including orthopedic. Dr. Casillas, Dr. Rust, and the staff I have met in the course of recent January, 2018 examinations and treatment for two different conditions have all been absolutely exceptional. I am treated with great professionalism, great respect, great communication, and with a genuinely caring demeanor and attitude by all. Their facility is bright, very clean, modern, and comfortable. I have so much pain in my feet that I don't even like people to look at them much less touch and manipulate them. Dr. Casillas is a very gentle and thoughtful orthopedic surgeon, who explored and discussed all options, surgical and non-surgical, with me. My surgery, once I have it, will be complex and difficult, but I appreciated his honesty and caring.

I first saw Dr Casillas as a second opinion after a reconstructive surgery on my foot. He was wonderful! Told me all my options, explained and answered questions and recommended the most conservative option - just what I want in a doctor! He has also performed operations on both feet for plantars fasciitis. One he said was the worst he had ever seen. Beautiful job! After put me into physical therapy and the result is no more pain! Dr. Casillas is terrific and I trust and recommend him highly!
Great Dr. Got me back to walking and running again when I was told I would never do. Might take a while to see him, but very worth it. I highly recommend him and his wonderful staff.

WORST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. 2.5 hour wait and then Mark saw me for less than 5 minutes. He did not take care to understand the causes behind my issue, how the pain has been spreading, asking me questions about what type of shoes I wear/physical activity I do, absolutely nothing.
