Very professional and highly knowledgeable in the field of endocrinology. A compassionate physician and human being.

He is such a wonderful doctor. You'll not meet another who is a thorough as he is. I've never experienced a wait time longer than 15 minutes. He is very nice, and presents information and results using visual guides and reports. Nice staff and office.. and you can get any labs you may need in the same building!

Dr. Sainz de la Peña is perhaps the best endocrinologist in Tampa Bay. He is extremely knowledgeable and detail-oriented, and he took the time to explain the problem I am facing and the plan to remedy it. I’ve been seeing him for the past 2 years and my results have proven that his diagnoses and treatment plan was correct — which I feel is significant because another doctor disagreed with his diagnosis. I have extreme confidence in Dr. Sainz de la Peña and would recommend would recommend him without reservation.

While my initial visit with Dr. Sainz de la Pena was good, and he was engaging and articulate- the follow-up from the office has been next to non-existent. He ordered tests and a referral to another specialist- which would then precipitate a possible change in treatment. After those tests and visits to the other specialist, no follow-up from this office. None- until I prompted. Appointments to see the doctor are required months in advance and follow-up visits with the nurse practitioner are several weeks out, even for a telemedicine visit. When decisions are to be made regarding a change in medication or treatment (which was discussed)- the patient shouldn't be required to follow-up, or wait 6 months for a decision. I have no doubt that he is a fine physician, but it is disappointing that the follow-through is sorely lacking.

Excellent doctor, caring, takes the time to listen customizes the care to the patients needs.

Do not waste your time, co-pay money nor the insurance money! Very bad doctor. This doctor did not even address the medical condition I went in for. He blame any and all of my ails on sleep apnea without any type of testing! Then this doctor tried to sell me 3rd party products right from his office. This visit only lasted about 10 minutes! I left in tears and had to go see another real doctor to treat the one condition I was working with. My rating should be a -5 stars!

My third endocrinologist in three years and I hit the jackpot. Dr. Pena is knowledgeable, competent, and caring. He reviewed my med history, spent almost 60 minutes sharing valuable information, and came up with a plan of action I was totally comfortable with. Wish all doctors were like Dr.Pena!

Excellent endocrinologist with far reaching knowledge of other medical disciplines and issues. A truly doctor's doctor. Very incisive, detailed in his diagnosis of your medical issues at hand. Patient comes away with a feeling of being in the hands of an extremely competent doctor. His immediate staff are very proficient, helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this practice to any patient who is seeking a top notch doctor in this field.

He is worth the wait as these days you can't find a doctor who genuinely cares like he does about the health and well-being of his patients. He has turned my life around concerning my health. This is an excellent doctor. I saw him today. He is well prepared, and extremely intelligent. He does not talk down to you. Beside explaining everything, he also printed out the notes of everything that was said. If someone is slow to understand, he might be too complicated for such a person. Then just do what he says to do. You should much rather prefer to have a very smart doctor who doesn't talk down to you than a mediocre one.

I have been a patient of Dr. Sainz de la Pena for several years. I appreciate his thorough review of my health including detailed explanations of labs and tests. As another reviewer said, he keeps up with all the latest developments and is open to alternative treatments. The new large screen he uses to show my history to compare and explain labs I really appreciate. When I ask questions, he often pulls up reports on the screen and explains the research to me. He is patient with my many questions. I can’t recommend him enough. He is the best endocrinologist I have seen. He’s brilliant, thorough, kind and caring. When I leave his office I have a report in a letter to my primary doctor with a copy of my test results. He takes his time with me and each patient which makes him run late sometimes. I like that in my doctor. He is worth the wait.

I have been seeing Dr. Sains De La Pena since I was in my 30’s (now I am in my 50’s). He is an intellectual doctor that keeps up on his medicine and the latest studies. He is ahead on treatment options and truly cares about his patients. Dr. Sains is detail oriented and will go through your medical records to get the big picture of your health. In addition to his specialty he does what a primary doctor would ideally do for you. My father was a doctor who unfortunately passed away so I am grateful to have Dr. Sains. I give him a 5 star the only reason I could possibly see getting a lower rating from others is because he is by nature an academic and not as much into the small talk.

Not the doctor for me. Spends more time dictating into his computer rather than face to face conversation with his attention. Recommends treatment that has nothing to do with the problem. Never really addressed my issue. In addition, although we had an appointment, we had a three hour wait. Won’t be returning to him.

I'm a longtime patient of Dr. Sainz De La Pena. I've found him to be extremely diligent diagnosing and treating. While other physicians run patients through like cattle, Dr. Sainz spends time both asking questions and listening to concerns.

Constantly runs 1.5-2hours behind schedule and does not seem to care about any inconvenience he might cause you. Don't bother planning any other appointments if you have one with him the same day.

In honor of my Mom who was sorely misdiagnosed by this doctor, which primarily contributed to her death in 2009 from cancer, I feel the obligation to protect others from a similar fate. We learned from wiser doctors at St. Joseph's ER that the symptoms she experienced a few years earlier when she saw Dr. Sainz de la Pena were the result of Stage IV cancer, though his "diagnosis" when she visited him was that she was "short, fat, and pushing menopause". Protect yourself and your loved ones.

Dr. Saint is an expert in his field. He has excellent bedside manners. One of a kind!

Have been his patient for 24 years and absolutely trust him with all my problems. He takes the time needed with each visit and thinks outside the box. Have had very complicated issues and he stays on top of them.. I recommend him to friends and coworkers all the time.. His nurse practitioner is also proficient in this field.

Worse doctor ever! Went for possible Cushing's Disease (rare and deadly metabolic? disease). At first visit, he reviewed my CT's and MRI's and insisted I didn't have Cushing's even without ordering any labs. After seeing him 8-9 mo's and getting sicker, I asked if there was any medication to ease the discomfort. He handed me a card to see a Psychiatrist. Instead, I called NIH in Maryland?, they reviewed my CT's, MRI'S & records, told me to fly up asap and determined I had full blown Cushing's.

I have been a patient of Dr. Sainz for over 15 years. He has ALWAYS listened to me and taken extra time with me when I needed it. He thinks outside of the box.. and provides information on new healing modalities and techniques. He's very thoughtful and understanding. I hold him in high regard!

Dr. Sainz de la Pena has been my treating endocrinologist for 26 years. He has been extremely proactive in my care and has literally saved my life. He has been way ahead of the curve in terms of medical research and current standard(s)of care. He is very strict and tough in terms of patient responsibility. Sometimes this is not very pleasant but certainly necessary in long term health results. I have a huge respect for Dr. Sainz de la Pena and could not imagine going to another endo.

Could not be happier with doctor knowledge the staff needs help but as long as the doctor goes no one better
