I view Dr. Rafla-Demetrius not just as my ophthalmologist but as my Trusted Advisor who is a big picture thinker who connects dots, rather than having a narrow view—exactly the type of individual that David Epstein’s highly-acclaimed book, Range, says that we need in our too-compartmentalized world. On what I labeled my “good eye”, she caught what others had previously missed—2 retina tears that had self-healed and a newer detachment that was nearing the center of vision. She pulled in a topnotch retina surgeon (Dr. Anton Orlin) on the spot and we agreed on that surgery was urgently needed. That’s happened and I credit both of them with saving my eye from possible disaster. I’ve eagerly recommended these MD’s to family & friends and will continue to do so.

Dr Rafla-Demetrious is the best Opthamologist I have seen. I have to see her regularly due to immunological issues affecting my eyes. She is thorough and explains the exact status of my eyes and my conditions as well as pertinent options and medications in detail. She also has an excellent bedside (office) manner and easy to speak to and create a rapport with. Highly recommended.
