Waited a while to see her and had worst service was very disappointed with her staff and Dr Machado. Won’t ever return to this office was a complete waste of my time.

This place is terrible I called for some questions and answers And this one lady told me she has no time for me and hung up on my face several times terrible terrible service

Sales pitch is great. Going in - you think its going to be fabulous. However- you soon learn that the billing from this office is archaic. Sure Dr. M is a great surgeon, yes the programs she offers will help you become healthier. Just don't cross Julie B in the office. Or God Forbid complain about your service/billing-Then all of a sudden your billing will be incorrect- and you wont get a statement - and a bill will pop up 3-4 months post surgery - that they will blame the insurance companies for. Make sure to read the yellow paper explaining the extra $4995 that you have to pay Dr. M to join her "membership" (save that paper too, you will need to explain to your insurance why that was charged, and they wont cover it at all) - mark on your calendar so you can try to get all your "free" perks- like the cool sculpting, etc.... this is quickly disregarded by the office once your surgery is over. If money is NO object to you- just hand over a blank check and you will be happy with this office. I have gained all weight back plus about 20 lbs because I have not had a bariatric doctor since 2017. Dr Machado has been amazing. I got lapband surgery back in 2009 my Another doctor and had a lot of success. However after 10 years I got lazy about monitoring my eating habits and ended up with some complications related to my esophagus which required my lapband be temporarily deflated. By this time my original doctor had retired and I desperately needed a new doctor to take me on. In addition I had gain a lot of the weight that I originally lost. I called Dr Machado’s office and the staff was very nice. They did their best to get me seen in a timely manner which was difficult with COVID-19. Since then I have been very happy with the treatment I’ve received. Dr Machado took the time to carefully go over my history, and began working with me to re-adjust my band and get me back on track. Her fee’s have been reasonable and her attitude towards helping me has been helpful, educational and inspiring. Dr Machado has been amazing. I have one mega regret. Not doing this with Dr. Machado sooner! Listen, there are many bariatric surgeons out there, but you will never find one with this level of care...before, during, and after your surgery. And I'm not just talking about a few months after...life long support! I belong to multiple online bariatic surgery groups. I am consistently shocked at the sub par level of care other doctors in this field provide...Lack of support with the lifestyle that must follow surgery, lack of recommendation of THE best products for your aftercare, and lack of true care, slow progression, and understanding that makes this journey a long-term success. Dr. M truly wants the best for her patients and puts others in her field to shame. How many doctors do you know that actively participate in an online group with her patients? That host Zoom calls once a month for check-in and support? She is direct and will not mince words. And that is exactly what is needed through this process! I know I will succeed...because she and her dietician, Lori, are behind me 100%. P.S....the staff who care for her patients at Mercy San Juan are absolutely stellar as well! I have one mega regret. Hands down the best bariatric surgeon in Northern California! I met with multiple surgeons before going to Dr. Machado’s seminar. It was more informational than any other doctor’s office had provided and I knew as soon as the meeting was over that she was the surgeon for me. She’s extremely honest and real, which is exactly what bariatric patients need. Her after care program is excellent and helps to keep you on track long term. I’m 2.5 years post op, healthier than I have ever been, and living my best life thanks to Dr. M. Her staff and nutritionist are also extremely professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. I had bypass surgery last year and Dr. Machado is incredible at what she does. I felt safe and truly cared for. Her follow up care has been excellent even in the year of 2020. She truly cares for her patients and wants them to succeed. I’m so glad I chose her to help me get my health back.

I had Gastric Bypass surgery in August 2019, it was the best decision I ever made. Dr. Machado, who I call Dr. Miracle is the best surgeon and follow up care Dr. in the area. I had no pain, no issues what so ever after surgery. I had a large room with excellent care from all the staff involved. She truly cares about her patients. Dr. Miracle knows of the problems that can arise, and makes sure you are very comfortable with your stay, and follow up care. She even has online classes and meetings, so no matter where you live, you can get the care you need, even if its just a pep talk! Love Dr. Miracle! Oh, and she also carries all the protein powders, vitamins and supplements you will ever need for success, right there in the office! I am so thankful that I went with Dr. Machado as my surgeon. She has been there for me the entire journey I have taken. Three years after my surgery and she is still there for me as she is all of her patients. The aftercare she gives with her program is a lifelong program not just a few months after. She is as invested in your success as you will be. I see others have said she is rude but that is a personal opinion on their part. She wont sugar coat things and watch you fail, she is going to be honest with you and tell you how it is and stand there supporting you in your success. I will take her and her style over other surgeons who don't give the level of care or have the interest in the quality of the product we use. She gave me a chance at a life I have counted out and my primary physician told me I wouldn't have.

Receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional and would not let me make an appointment. With this kind of bad attitude makes one wonder about the doctor.

Receptionist are very rude and unprofessional. I called last week and was told that someone would need to call me back. Never received a call. When I cal today I get transferred to two different people who seem as if they don’t know why they would be answering the phone.

Best and most caring doctor I have ever had.

Dr Machado is the absolute best in her field! After a prior surgeon left me suffering with a stomach stricture for almost 3 years after a gastric sleeve surgery, Dr Machado treated me with care, concern, dignity and respect! She listened to my cry over the stricture preventing me from eating and caused so much weight loss I was half the person I was before surgery. She promised to help me and she revised me to a gastric bypass and removed the stomach stricture! Today is the best I have ever felt! Dr Machado has the best bed side manner of any surgeon I have ever gone to. She is strict but only IF you do not do as you are supposed to so you can remain active and healthy!

Dr Machado and all of her associates were wonderful.

Dr. Machado saved my life on Nov. 7, 2007. My body was operating out of control. I weighed 344 pounds, had extremely high blood pressure, uncontrollable diabetes, asthma problems and a compromised immune system. I developed Sleep Apnea and congestive heart failure. I was 52 years old. I tried and tried to lose weight to no avail. My medical doctor basically said to have a gastric bypass or don’t expect to live long. When I met Dr. Machado I was filled with hope. Not only did she and her staff have wonderful bedside manners, she really cared about each and everyone of us. She gave all of us a second chance at life and a happier life carrying a much lighter load. Initially, it was a difficult way of life. I lost 145 lbs. quickly. But I made a few mistakes along the way. One was to think I could still drink wine the way I used to. This became a big problem as I could no longer metabolize it. I had to quit. Another problem occurred when I didn’t stick closely to the diet and gained back 80 pounds.. I got back on the diet and lost 100 pounds and my weight ihas been stabile for two years. Lastly, I quit taking bariatric vitamins and I reached a point of extreme fatigue and low blood counts. With the life change that Dr. Machado initiated, I now am raising three grandchildren and enjoying retirement with my family and friends.Thank you Dr. Machado for the gift of life. She is nicest and most charming doctor you will find. She always takes her time with and you never feel like she is trying to rush you out. After my wife’s surgery everyone that we bumped into at the hospital could not say enough things about her and either can we.

Charges an additional $3,200 “program fee” for a sleeve and $4,200 for a bi-pass that is not covered by any insurance. Staff is extremely rude and difficult and no matter what’s going on you will never get a call back from the doctor. They seemed so nice at the seminar and initial visit but I have seen them be nasty to so many patients while waiting in the waiting room. Find another doctor!

Dr. Machado and her team are the best of the best! San Juan Mercy Hospital and their entire team did an amazing job and took such good care of me. After my surgery I had a private room and was able to get some much needed rest. They made sure I was comfortable. Dr. Machado entire process leading up to the surgery is so thorough. I knew exactly what to expect and what to do when I arrived home. This was a very important decision for me, and I truly feel Dr. Machado and her team has given me back my life. Dr Machado is the best. I had my surgery 8 years ago and she did a perfect job. I can't say enough good about her and her center.

Awsome doctor! The best! I had been preauthorized with 3 other providers and kept cancelling because I was not confident in the providers or their staff. Dr. Machado was thorough and did a complete exam on me. Her follow through and bedside manner are great. Her staff is awesome too! I would recommend her in a heart beat!

My husband received a lap band with Dr. Machado and had lost over 50 lbs so far. She is so down to earth and made us feel comfortable right away. She and her team are fabulous, we are very lucky to have found her! She is easy to get ahold of, and the wait times at the office are minimal. I would highly recommend her to anyone!
