After reading the reviews I felt I needed to leave my own. A lot of the complaints were regarding ow long it took to get an appointment. In the Austin area, there are THREE geneticists. THREE. It would be wonderful if they were able to see every patient within a month or two but there is literally no way that’s possible with such limited resources. Also, most of the patients being seen here potentially have life threatening disorders so just moving an appointment to fit in another child isn’t really a viable option either. Dr. Immken cares greatly for her patients. You can see that in how thorough and methodical she is; in her attention to detail. I could see how she cares when I saw her response to me and my family as she gave us the results from our tests. Yes, the wait for the appointment is absolutely maddening when all you want are answers, but that’s not the doctor’s fault. Most unprofessional practitioner i’ve ever dealt with ! My wife and I waited 7 months for an appointment with Dr. Immken and didn’t even get a reminder text/call until the day of the appointment and to make matters worst we were never given the the address to her office. Not when we made appointment nor when we got our reminder text! So we googled the address and when we showed up we were told that we were at the wrong location and that Dr.Immken no longer worked at that location. The lady at the front desk was nice enough to call Dr.Immken’s office and try to reschedule for a later time that day but Dr.Immken was not willing to make an exception even though it was her administration fault that we were late/at the wrong location ! ???????????????????????? Dr Immken is wonderful and caring and thorough. She completely examined my daughters and doesn’t leave any questions out when going over their history. The other reviews here that are negative are not actually for the dr herself but the office staff which has improved lately. You won’t find a more dedicated and knowledgeable geneticist than Dr Immken. People need to leave reviews if they have an actual opinion of her work and not the staff hired to answer phones or make appointments. Dr Immken is wonderful and caring and thorough. I’ve read the reviews and I will tell you that Dr Immken is awesome. Yes, you will wait for forever to get an appointment and that’s because she is incredibly thorough. She has a very scientific mind. Which is exactly what you want trying to decifer dna issues. The she was thoughtful on follow ups and even ordered particular labs that identified a rare issues with our son. With that she gave us a packet of research and information to follow up with. I booked an appointment for my daughter who is in dire need of help. The "Dr." couldn't find a way to fit her in for six months. SIX MONTHS?!? I thought this to be absurd, but I booked the appointment anyway. Five months later, I get a call from a heartless admin saying they need to reschedule. FOR THREE MONTHS LATER!!! Absolutely unacceptable! For many, this is a life/death situation and this Dr. doesn't seem to care one bit about the welfare of her patients, or apparently, anybody. My daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder after testing was done by her neurologist. It was suggested we schedule an appointment with a geneticist. I called in March and took the first available appointment which was for the week after Christmas, 9 months later. I took it. After a very long wait our appointment was finally drawing near. On Sunday we received an automated call informing us we'd need to reschedule. I called first thing Monday morning to find out what was going on. They told us the doctor had decided to close the office the week following Christmas and were rescheduling all patients. They said I'd have to wait until June. 6 more months of waiting! I did not cancel this appointment THEY did! Now they want me to wait a total of 15 months?!?! Absolutely ridiculous. She makes you feel like everything is your fault (the parent) and just very rude and unfriendly. She is not a people person and really didn't help out with our situation. I have to make another appointment because she didn't do what she was supposed to do in the first place (per my pediatrician) I an researching another specialist in the area because I really do not want to take my child back to her ever again. 0 stars.

Unbelievably long wait times (6months+) for appointments. Office does not return calls, even to our physicians. "Counseling" was just re-reading us the printed report. It might seriously be faster to go to med school and get your own degree in genetics than to work with this office.

Dr. Immken was very thorough and patiently described everything to us both in terms of the options and tests as well as the results once we received them.

We met with a genetic counselor in Dr Immken's office in Sept 2016, after waiting 3 months for an appt. The visit was a useless review of the genetic report we already read. She promised to ask the lab to authorize further testing. FIVE MONTHS LATER, the office has never contacted us, despite repeated attempts from us and our neurologist. This week they finally reached out and offered us their first appt... six more months from now. That appt is another consult, not needed testing. The. Worst.

Dr Immken herself was fine. but it seems to be a poorly run office. My son was born with a suspected genetic issue. We went to get testing done on him. We submitted a blood sample. Two weeks later we got a call that we needed to submit a blood sample. We explained we already had. They call us back say everything is fine that the lab has it, it was a mistake on their part for ever calling. Then about 4 weeks in we called to check on results. They said they had nothing but would call and check on the lab. Nothing. Another week goes by we call again and are told the same thing. Then another week goes by and someone finally figures out the lab does not have it. I genuinely believe no one ever called, and we were lied to by her office staff. They just assumed it was taking long. Now assuming my son does have what is suspected hes going to be about 2 months behind on treatment. For us dealing with our sons diagnosis's it feels like trying to hold up the weight of the world. The office clearly does not appreciate the importance of their job and i could not recommend anyone go there because of it. Dr Immken herself was fine. but it seems to be a poorly run office. Will order all appropriate testing, drawback is these can take a lot more time than expected.
