Dr. Kristi D Silver

I've received care from Dr. Silver for treatment of PCOS for 2 years. I will echo what other reviewers have already stated. Dr. Silver does not seem to believe me about my eating. She also doubles down on discussions of diet and food. I’d already told her I was anti diet culture and looking to work within a health at every size model. However, EVERY appointment includes in depth conversations about the meals I’ve had in the previous days and focuses heavily on dieting and weight loss. She even pulls up a website that lists the number of calories in every food item and will recommend weight loss diets and routines. This despite my telling her that I do not count calories and have been moving towards an intuitive eating/gentle nutrition process, and despite the fact that I usually have decent labs. It is extremely triggering to have appointments with her and I’m now looking for a new endocrinologist. I interpret her approach as very fatphobic and would not recommend her.

She isn't very communicative between visits. I had a heck of a time trying to get her to send a prescription to my pump company-a week and a half and still no updates-she never faxed it and isn't talking to me. She also brought up my weight gain at my appointment when it states in my medical record that I am recovering from anorexia nervosa. Looking for a new Endo.

Dr Silver is very good at assessing what changes I need to make to my insulin pump. As a result I have excellent control of my diabetes with an A1c of 6.1. I also have a complicated medical history that she stays on top of. I highly recommend her.

My only problem with this Doctor is that she didn't believe me when I tried to explain why my blood sugar was high (the lab tech didn't let me wash my hands. Then when I was retested and got a better result, she asked if I had taken insulin in the 10 minutes between tests. I feel she didn't trust my word and that is making me tnink about changing doctors. Aren't we both adults? If you don't trust me to tell the truth, what are we doing together.
