Dr. Sarantopoulos was thorough and quite helpful. The office staff are unhelpful and do not return calls. I had a billing issue that I was unable to resolve over an eight-month period, due to an inability to get anyone on the phone with authority to review my situation. Several months ago, I was informed by Laura, an office manager, that a charge was incorrectly billed. She then quit returning my calls and never assisted me with getting the reimbursement. Laura and other office staff stated they would call me back with updates, but they never did. When speaking with Michelle regarding the next steps, she was particularly rude. Michelle stated she is “not the person for me to vent to.” I was not venting—I was attempting to resolve an issue created by their office. Completely unprofessional. Furthermore, when I would call their office, I was often placed on hold for 20-40 minutes, & Michelle refused to provide an email address to simplify this process. Michelle attributed the refusal to provide an email address to HIPPA guidelines—which is a lie. I am a busy law student and I spent 60+ hours over an eight-month period on phone calls attempting to resolve this matter. My boyfriend had a screening with one of his doctors, that then later set up an appointment with doctor Sarantopoulos. He said my boyfriend’s case was too complicated and he needed to meet with Dr. Sarantopoulos (the head off the pain management team at UM). We had to wait one month for the appointment due to the current Covid situation. When the day finally came, they wouldn’t let me upstairs with my boyfriend even though it was evident that he needed someone to go along with him. They said they would call me during the consult, but I never received a call. The next thing that happens is my boyfriend came back with a bunch of referrals. Apparently he is not able to prescribe narcotics, which my boyfriend obviously needs. I wish they would have told us this during the screening, rather than waste our time. We are basically were we started. They have an online description on the UM website about this doctor and his consult, nothing that we experience honors what it says in that.

Thoughtful, solutions oriented, and nice to talk to as well. Very compassionate and willing to help with some serious medical problems.

Wonderful physician and the first to truly explain what is going on with me in terms of my chronic post-traumatic headaches/neuropathy/light sensitivity. Very holistic-minded and gave me a variety of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical approaches to consider, offered supplement and diet considerations, etc. Has been more than accommodating with getting me in for procedures and even offered cell phone number to easily stay in touch. We had a 10:30 appointment to see Dr Saratopoulos. The intake nurse asked my wife for her current pain level, 1-10. My wife answered 12. We were put in a room. My wife’s hip pain is such that sitting makes it worse. So she stood. In pain. After half an hour, one of Dr Sarantopoulos’ flunkies came in to review the history for the fifth time at this facility. They have all the information electronically. He then left. Half and hour passed. Still no Dr Sarantopoulos. We decided to seek pain management from people who actually care elsewhere. We never got to see Dr Sarantopoulos but after keeping his patient waiting in 12/10 pain, standing, for over an hour, I can only presume he doesn’t view his patient’s pain as urgent or a priority. My wife’s hip pain is such that sitting makes it worse. After half an hour, one of Dr Sarantopoulos’ flunkies came in to review the history. He then left. Half and hour passed. there had a referral from her PCP for continued pain management. The pain management did include a narcotic protocol. She went to a new patient appointment with this position and was told that this practice does not prescribe narcotics to anyone. Even there we saw she needed them and offered to refer her to her practice in town that does prescribe narcotics. If you were in need of narcotic pain management this is not the clinic for you. Don't waste your time and money.
