Dr. Khalid Mahmood

I like Dr. Mamhood very much. He calms my nerves about the illness or type of cancer he is treating me for. I wish we could get my numbers down lower but once I speak with Dr. Mamhood I am a lot calmer and he is a great oncologist.

If you are looking for a Physician that is caring, attentive, responsive, understanding, competent, compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely comfortable to talk with you have find him. Dr. Mahmood took extreme care of my elderly mother. He was on point in every facet of her care. Not once did we ever feel rushed at appointments rather he took whatever time was needed for any questions, concerns or clarifications we needed. At her first chemotherapy treatment he came back to check on her. That he remembered when that was spoke volumes of his professional ethics, and care for his patients! As a former patient at M D, my mother received personal care more so than I did at M D Anderson. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Mahmood but we are forever grateful for him!!!

Dr Mahmood explains the medical problems that I have in terms I can understand.

I have known Dr Mamood for over 20 years. He is one the most knowledgeable Drs in his field and is caring and compassionate and makes me feel like I am being sincerely cared for by his treatment. I sincerely like being one of his patients because I feel like I am being cared for by a genuine Dr of extreme integrity.

Dr. Mahmood is very through, and explained the reasons for the testing he ordered. He also fully explained all of the test results. He is very kind man.

When my husband got the news of being hit with cancer, we were crush did not know what to do or where to go. Dr Mahmood along with his Care team was truly a GOD sent.

Very impressed with how well he listens and answers questions. Provides clear understanding of his thought process and recommended path forward. Takes the time to explain all concepts. Not rushed. He is very compassionate and I fully trust him. Entire office is extremely helpful and friendly. Scheduling is very flexible and wait times reasonable.

Dr. Mahmood has been my oncologist for over 9 years, and throughout this time his treatment and recommendations have been spot on target. Yes, I would recommend him to my family and friends.

On time and well taken care of.

Dr. Mahmood has been treating me for Lymphoma for the past five years. I feel very confident in his ability as an Oncologist. He monitors my condition closely making necessary adjustments in the treatment protocol to help ensure my cancer is controlled. Also, Dr. Mahmood is personable and understanding, which is most helpful since my Lymphoma condition fluctuates making me not the most cooperative patient at times.

Dr. Mahmood treated me when I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Dr Mahmood is such a caring and compassionate physician he is awesome in my eyes.

In my opinion Dr. Mahnood is horrible. My mother was in the ER for a sore arm and after X-rays was told to admit herself immediately because the X-rays showed cancer in her lungs and multiple areas of her bones. Dr. Mahmood without knowing what type or stage cancer it was... told my mother she would be able to leave the hospital the next day. The next day would come and he would tell al of us.. "she should be able to leave in a few days". Everyday she was getting worse and he still kept telling her that she would be able to go home. Dr. Mahmood also told my mother that the cancer is treatable without knowing what it is or the stage it was. According to the ER doctor is was "quite massive" in her lungs and bones. I know all cancer can be treated but when you say this to a non medical person.... they believe treatable is curable. IT WAS NOT CURABLE. Dr. Mahmood also never told her directly that it was stage 4 and terminal,,, he told me. I can only guess that since he never returned to tell her he was leaving his job for me to do. I text all the doctors and demanded Dr. Mahmood to tell her the real situation (with me and all the doctors in the room) since she was under the impression it was "treatable" and curable. He did so but seemed very irritated to have to do so. Dr Mahmood told me with radiation that my mother would be able to do the normal activities (even though he gave her 6mo to 1 year to live) like going to the grocery store... walking etc. I asked the other doctors and told them what Mahmood had said and BOTH doctors looked at each other and then told me that was not possible. A few days later my mother was paralyzed in both legs from the bone cancer and died 2 weeks later never leaving the hospital. A short time later his office staff was calling asking why my mother has not done a follow up visit. He should take the time to update his patient information so not to upset the family with calls like this. Very unprofessional. Dr. Mahmood should be ashamed of himself. Trustworthy

My husband had an aggressive form of bile duct/liver cancer. By time the cancer was diagnosed, it had basically took over his liver. Dr. Mahmood was personable, and met with both of us, while Rick was hospitalized., daily. I personally wished that Dr.Mahmood would have been more forthright with me about the severity of the Cancer. This was my first time of being exposed to cancer this personally. There were a lot of things I did not understand. Often I was too frightened to ask, because what I had figured out, was a really bleak reality. But I am strong enough and prefer to be told with empathetic tact the truth.
