Katherine Lau

This was the worst therapy experience I have ever had. She did not listen to me at all, asked really weird questions and felt so impersonal and judgmental. I ignored the reviews because I wanted to give her a chance. I shouldn’t have. Please - I am begging you - do not ignore the reviews and do not see Katherine Lau.

There's a sense of coldness that made me feel horrible through our interactions. I didn't feel like she cared for me and her actions hurt more than healed.

I've had 4 therapists in my lifetime, and this was the worst experience. Sometimes she would say something short of 5 sentences in a whole session. I felt like she was very disapproving toward my same sex partner choice and finally left in the end because she started charging me more on my insurance without telling me in advance.

I have a transgendered son who has been seeing Katherine for his depression Andy anxiety. I find her very genuine and patience with my son’s developmental issues as well as social anxiety. She’s has a very busy schedule and is willing to accommodate my son’s as well as my work schedules.

She was the worst therapist I've ever had. She is extremely judgmental and makes you feel like you're under a microscope being prodded and observed constantly. She hasn't provided me with any good coping mechanisms for the 2 months that I've been with her. We've never had an actual conversation, she just prods me with questions and 3 word observations. She also refuses if you try to make adjustments on your schedule to try to see her less. I should've stopped going to her after the first session

I found that she was attuned to my needs as a clinician and a psychoanalyst. People who found her helpful because she's patient with individuals with difficulty in regulating their emotions.

I would not recommend this therapist to anyone. She proclaims she gives you a safe space to talk about your problems but she is actually very judgmental, ask unrelated questions, offers no positive feedback or empathy, and pushes boundaries. She is out of touch with the humanistic aspect of what it is to be a therapist to a vulnerable person. Avoid this therapist at all costs.

My friend went to see this therapist recently and let me tell you, she is a horrific therapist. She is judgmental and extremely degrading. She does not care to establish any kind of report with her client. She asks questions to fulfill her own curiosity rather than thought provoking questions. She definitely oversteps her boundaries and has made my friend feel extremely uncomfortable. She ended up leaving the session feeling much worse about herself. I definitely do not recommend her!
