Dr. Karen C Mccowen

She presented herself as sweet and caring on the first video visit. But after working with her for over a year her careless views on endocrinology and "you don't need labs, just feel out your dosage" approach got me ill on several occasions. I had to be taken to ER a half dozen times as well. As a person she was nice, but as her approach stopped being ...well healthy.. my requests for better quality of care lead to the pursuit of someone else. So far UCSD has been nothing but trouble though. Surgeries, doses, medication types... It doesn't seem that education in the endocrinology department is much more than trial and error, at the patients expense. I left her care for someone else

Dr. McCowen listened to me and was able to help me with my long term problems after radiation therapy.

I just met her she really listens to what you have to say. She hear you out and give you the best answer you need to hear. I hope she would be as funny and cool to go see.

Dr. McCowen is incredibly knowledgeable, funny, kind, and responsive. I have been seeing her for several months and she has responded to messages on weekends and late at night to help me get the care I need. Dr. McCowen is an excellent doctor she cares about her patients and very compassionate. She calls me my friend and she is very knowledgeable and professional, When I leave a message for her she answers it in short time.

Dr. McCowen is an excellent endocrinologist and she told me that I have the Hashimoto's disease and explain every single thing with patience. I'm very happy to be her patient and I definitely recommend her to my family and friends!

AmazIngly responsive -- at all times of the day, seven days a week, and even late into the evening. She is interested in everything I, as a patient, say or do or ask about. She answers questions patiently and thoroughly. I feel that she is my partner in my healthcare.

Dr. McCowen really listens and takes the time to answer questions. I believe she cares about patients by the way she interacts with me.
