Doctor Q wasn't helpful at all. I was panicking and freaking out, and he didn't help at all. He changed my meds, but that didn't really help. I tried to leave against medical advice, because I didn't feel safe, and like I was being treated properly. They just keep throwing drugs at you, and don't really explain. I got some of the worst news of my life while I was under their care, and they gave me a shot to make me sleep, so I would stop panicking. Then the next thing I know I'm being woken up saying if I don't go to the next group my insurance isn't going to pay for anything. Doctor Q wasn't helpful at all. They lied about me threatening to kill my mother. They were ready to move me to a homeless shelter when my mother wanted me to come home. I do not recommend going to this place.

Not only did they misdiagnose my problem which was caused by a medical condition, NOT a mental illness, they kept me locked up for 5 days, which is the minimum that the law allows. Mulberry is more like a jail lockup, than a mental hospital. I came in for help and got treated like dirt. You will lose your civil rights, and if you do not cooperate with the staff, they will keep you locked up forever. If you enter voluntarily, as I did, expect to get a huge bill. Mulberry costs about $1000 per day! If you do not have insurance, you will be in for a nasty surprise after you get out. The staff was very nice and treated me with respect and a lot of them like Susan, my social worker and Dr. Q and rene even went the extra mile for me while I was there. I really enjoyed the activity class where you got to draw. I think rene got me into drawing. a great way to express yourself when talking doesn't really work very well or you don't know what to say exactly.they allow and actually encourage you to express yourself and be creative and give you bendy pens to write with. They feed you good too. However, its very sedentary. We never get to go outside or to get any exercise. Which kind of drives you a bit mad after awhile. They need exercise equipment or something if we can't exercise outside at least. Exercise is also critical to your mental and physical health.they also don't let you have cell phones, mp3 players, iPods or access to the internet which makes it really impossible to self sooth with music and doesn't enable you to look for options out there online when you get discharged. So besides those few little quirks, its really very helpful at least while you're in there until you go back home in my opinion, but those few quirks are also very important and need to be addressed and would make the experience more helpful if we had those things in there.
