I've been going to Dr Joseph Allen now for over 10 years and and can say each experience has been excellent, professional and helpful which includes his staff from nurses and receptionists???? Thank you Dr Joseph Allen and your amazing staff for what you do ????

Very minimal hours of operation and the after hours call center receptionist was very rude.

This office has been my primary care for many years. They genuinely care about their patients’ health. The office staff has always been kind and accommodating, as much as possible. The nurses are also great. They are organized and knowledgeable.

Dr Allen is very nice and a good doctor. Getting ahold of his office for prescription renewals and to talk to a person rather than leaving a message with an answering service can be difficult if you have a busy schedule good luck getting anyone, office only open 08:30am-11:30am and 1:30pm-2:00pm very frustrating.

Dr. Allen is kind and helpful. He has great bedside manner, listens to concerns, and is knowledgeable. I really like him as a doctor. The staff I met in office were nice. The referral office is terrible and doesn't send referrals. They don't send in requests for blood work and they don't return phone calls within the 48 hours that is promised on the voice mail recording (week day, no holidays this week.) I was told to wait 48 hours to go have blood drawn. I waited the appropriate time, fasted, went to the facility and the order had never been sent. The staff was rude when I called to request it. I had to call multiple times to get it sent and waited half an hour for something that was supposed to be quick and convenient. My appointment was 7/7, after waiting two weeks to be seen. I was supposed to have multiple referrals sent and was told it could take 7 to 10 days. I have called twice now, asking about the referrals. According to my insurance company, they were not received until 7/23. Sixteen days. Absolutely appalling and unacceptable. I am very disappointed in the delay in patient care I am now dealing with due to a lack of dilligence from some staff. When I spoke to the referral coordinator, she said they were waiting on insurance approval, which was a half truth. I was informed today the referrals had not been sent until two days ago. My insurance was prompt, the referrals department was not and gave me misleading information. I would not recommend this office to anyone who is in need of medical care that is at all timely. Dr. Allen and his staff are truly incredible. One of the most dedicated medical teams in Southern California. They are always kind, helpful, and pay very close attention to the details of their patients. With Dr. Allen, you are not a number, you are not "another file," you are treated like a family member. Dr. Allen has been my and my family's PCP for 15+ years, and the care in unrivaled. They are committed to personal attention and what health care is truly meant to be. The environment and especially the staff make everything so smooth and comfortable. Even in stressful (stress not their fault) phone calls to the office, the staff there made it such a breeze. (I mostly remember Eric - so relaxed and consistently super informative/helpful!) The waiting room is also adorned with the beautiful personal artwork of Dr. Allen, which is a super unique and appreciated touch. I'm looking forward to being back in their network. :)

Answering service is rude. The people who answer phones and take appointments are as friendly as a cactus. Don’t have anything urgent, because you won’t be seen. Choose another doctor’s office.

Dr Allen is a really nice and professional doctor who genuinely cares about his patients, but his office is very difficult to get a hold of. I gave such a low rating solely based on the "answering service" and their lack of interest, rudeness, and inability to provide any benefit to me at all besides telling me to call back later. Dr. Allen is our family physician / PCP and our family has been visiting his office for over 10 years. Dr. Allen is a very talented physician and has access to the full spectrum of specialists in Southern California. The office and staff are very accommodating and friendly. Appointment availability is awesome, same day / week appointments are often available. If you live in the OB / Point Loma area this should be your Doctor ???????? Answering service they use is extremely rude. The lady on the phone cut me off in the middle of my sentance - I hadn't even explained what was wrong yet, saying that my Dr isn't available and hung up on me when I told her how rude she was being.

Called multiple times on multiple occasions to try to get an appointment with my primary care doctor. The lady kept me on hold until it was after business hours, then told me she could no longer assist me. I’ve been hung up on multiple times, and told blatantly they were too busy. Find somebody who actually cares! I know I am.

I've been seeing Dr. Allen for many years. I've also seen Dr. Fasset when needed. I find both to be caring, compassionate and thorough. I've continued to come here even without insurance. I have been very disappointed with the front office changes though. The two gentlemen in the front office are quite cold and difficult to deal with. The first thing out of their mouth is not "Hello" but "your Co-pay is" or where is your updated insurance card. I miss Jennifer at the front desk. I have been going to this office to see Dr. Allen and Dr. Fassett for about 6 years now and have been time and time again impressed with their service, compassion, and follow up. Both doctors and the staff at the front are always very friendly and helpful. I am especially grateful for being fit into their busy schedule without an appointment when I recently had a medical condition that needed immediate attention. Thank you for everything you do! Tried to get an appointment with Dr. Allen, due to ringing in the ears. Was informed that their first appointment was three weeks out. A week later my ear started to really hurt so I called to see I could be seen earlier. They said that the could not fit me under any circumstance and could not provide me with a referral to a specialist. Then my insurance company called Dr. Allen and he was able to fit me in four days later, and that I would need to call right away to secure the appointment. However, when I called the office to confirm the appointment they were out to lunch from 11:30-1:30, a two hour lunch, no wonder they could not fit me in earlier. Any way good news is I found another primary care physician that does seem to care about his patients and was able to fit me in right away. Dr. Allen and his office staff are amazing. They really went above and beyond in helping me. He is very mild mannered. He appears to be quite experienced with a wealth of knowledge. I appreciated him taking his time to make sure he understood what I was attempting to communicate. The lady at the front desk is definitely top notch. She is "on top of things" always it seems. Thank you for being so efficient.

Dr. Allen was professional, quick, efficient and overall excellent on my recent visit. He completed my flight physical and was very helpful with other questions I had. I will be going back to him.
